  2. My thoughts:

If an AT has an 'elemental' power set, then they should get a corresponding APP. Thus:

    Electric Mastery for Scrappers
Dark and Electric Mastery for Tanks
Electric Mastery for Dominators (Elec/Elec and no Charged Armour? Heresy!)

    And so on.

Power customization is also a big thing in this regard, to make them better fit with customized primaries/secondaries.

Now that Villains have APP access and Heroes PPP (if they go Rogue), there's no reason why more APP's shouldn't grace our characters.
  3. I'll point out that Hero Stance 2 looks much better when flying than standing:

  4. Activates too slow, easily interrupted, recharge is too long for what it does, accidental keypress will break it.

    Doesn't look that good either.

    Not a fan.

    So Praetorians!

Zahir Rolando is a scientist working for the PPD, helping with technology to combat the Resistance. He lost his legs in a terrorist bombing, and is quite the moral and upstanding citizen, willing to risk his neck in his own time to test his robotic helpers in battle and help to keep the streets clean.

Officer Maxi Pound is a mutant in the Powers division, and despite her small size, being just under four foot tall, is well suited to fighting on the front line due to her immense strength and toughness. She wishes to rise in prominence so that people won't keep literally overlooking her due to her size.

Jonathan Wong is a Powers Division martial artist, utilizing ki to bolster his might. He's also a Resistance mole, there not only to help relieve the oppression of the Praetorian Police Department and aid others, but also to try and track down his sister.

Geltblitz is quite the cruel man, using his powers to devastate and destroy the Resistance, who he sees as a threat to his comfortable lifestyle. Power hungry and a little greedy. Fame has it's lure for him.

Mindserf was rescued on the QT by Jonathan Wong from a laboratory, a hidden project to bolster the mental gifts of a psychic. Very quiet, he stays hidden away in Jonathan's apartment, yet somehow is able to sneak out and in when there's someone in need.
  6. Web store, the web store page is very un-ordered though, The Complete Collection pack should be at the top of the screen, not the CoH Architect Edition. That's just stupid.

Also, Shadowy Presence, if it's interruptable, is pointless. 10 minute recharge, acts like old Shadowmeld from Night Elves on WoW (Stand still, don't attack, get to be invisible). Takes ages to activate, making it kind of useless as a get out of combat emergency action.

Villain stances are the best out of the ones added. Especially Villain Stance 2.

  7. Thank you for this release, and for all the work that's gone into it. Mid's is a great boon to the community, and I always enjoy updating to tinker with more powers and ideas.

All looks good so far, though I have noticed that Power Siphon from KM for Scrappers isn't displaying the boosted damage numbers (but it is for To Hit)

That's a bit like saying they should only have one type of sitting emote. Why would my hero cackle like crazy when he changes costume? Why would my hacker type electric blaster summon a giant bolt of lightning to transform?
  9. ccIce - Uses the Frozen Armour animation to freeze up the body, and then fade away to reveal the costume change.

ccElectricity - Strikes the pose from Self Destruct, lightning surging up the arms and legs, resulting in the costume change.

ccFire - Strikes a pose, engulfing in flame that fades to reveal the new costume.

ccStone - Earth Cages emote, forming a chunk of stone around the hero, that breaks apart to reveal the costume

ccRadiation - Irradiate Emote, finishing in the fallout cloud from Fallout/EMP Blast/Atomic Blast, revealing the costume.

ccTornado - Like Ninja Leap change, Tornado propels the hero into the air, landing again in the new costume.

I'd love Auto Turret for my upcoming Bots/Traps MM. 6 Bots, 4 Seeker Drones, 1 Force Field Generator, 1 Acid Mortar and an Auto-Turret.

If the Acid Mortar had tiny legs to scurry along with, along with a floating Triage Beacon?

    I'd be in love.
  11. I recently won £70 on the lottery, and spent it on books.

If I got £100, I'd probably spend that on books too. I like my books. Probably get Monster Manual 2 and 3 for D&D4E and maybe start on the Martial/Divine/Arcane /Primal Power books.
  12. Come Issue 18, Frostfire goes Hero. Which presents issues with characters stating they've defeated Frostfire. In the past, it was either just nodded at vaguely that he's back out again, or sometimes stated that it was some kind of title. They get someone to stand in while the Main Man (not Lobo) is in jail or whatever.

    GR rundown

    Guys?

As far as I can see from reading it:

If you have no other characters, your first character will be locked into a Praetorian to experience the new starting experience.

    From that we can take:

People without Going Rogue will still be able to play Heroes/Villains

People who have characters already will be able to pick Heroes/Praetorians/Villains.

Once you have a Praetorian made as a new character, you'll likely be able to then pick Heroes/Praetorians/Villains.

    You're nuts.

    The devs aren't that stupid.

I more think he means the GR Complete Collection.

As I went along, Matt (That's our Positron - Zortel) explained the concept of Praetoria. “We have this alternate dimension, this alternate earth, called Praetoria. When you first start the game, if you’ve never made another character, we force you to start as Praetorian, because that’s our best new player content; that’s our best foot forward.”

I'm pretty dang sure it was stated that -New- players, as in those who have purchased the Going Rogue Complete Collection, or the Architect Edition and GR, will only have Praetorian as the first character choice option, and -then- the menu we get now for choosing Hero/Praetorian/Villain appears.

Problem is, Stamina requires three power picks, and a -lot- of sets are hell to play without it. So miss out a primary/secondary, that's your three at 30. Then if you want Hasten, miss out another. Then if you want a travel power, that's either 1 power pick or two...

  18. Rushmore - Jamie Mathews

Where does your character get his or her laundry done?
    - In the Unity Vigil's Laundry Room. Or when he's at home, he does it in the washer there.

In a philosophical discussion of death, how would your character describe the perfect death?
    - As Rushmore, giving his life to defend his country from some great threat.
    - As Jamie, on a homestead when elderly, with his wife, children and grandchildren about. Live the American dream, die to it too.

What is your character's favorite food or drink? What food or drink do they absolutely hate?
    - Jamie loves BBQ food. Back home in South Dakota, got a big old fire pit and BBQ, and on national holidays he goes home with his girlfriend to see the family, the extended family and help out on the grill. He dislikes sashimi as he's not a fan of raw fish, and loathes butternut squashes after a mutant one tried to take over his hometown.

Describe your character's personal bedroom. Is it in your supergroup's base or somewhere else?
    - Jamie lives in Unity Tower, in a Two Bed, Two Bathroom, 1 Living Area apartment with his girlfriend Joanna. They have separate rooms, but share beds. The separate rooms are to give them a place to retire, to keep their things and to provide a little piece of themselves to a room when the rest is mostly shared décor. His room contains pictures from back home, hometown memorabilia, a Rushmore Unity Vigil produced action figure, his wood working tools and a collection of books on various home-craftsmanship subjects, as well as some history and military stuff. He also keeps souvenirs of Americana.

How would your character's father describe him or her?
    - Jamie's father, Ralph, is very proud of his soon. He'd describe him as being a very proud American, dedicated to living by the tenants of the forefathers, and also quite brave. He's glad his son possesses a good sense of humour, and is very comfortable with himself.

Would the description be any different coming from his or her mother?
    - Not at all. Lucy's supportive of Jamie and in his hero capacities as Rushmore, and she's always eager to see him and his girlfriend.

If you (the player) were to meet the character, what would you most DISLIKE about the character, from a personality standpoint.
    - I think after a while, Jamie's patriotism and firm sense of American Exceptionalism might get a little grating, but I don't think there's too much to take umbrage with.
  19. Main PC has the game's screen in full on, Steam turned off. No messaging programs run on it.

Laptop to the side of me has running:

Some form of media. This can be either YouTube (Music/Sketches/Parts of an episode of a show), BBC iPlayer (Film, series, comedy, or a documentary), BBC iPlayer Radio (Either BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4 (For Comedy), BBC Radio 6, or BBC Radio 7 (For Dad's Army, Steptoe and Son, The Seventh Dimension Sci Fi Show, No 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Hancock's Half Hour, and others). Sometimes i'll bring out my Eee 901 and slimline DVD player to watch something too.

    Mid's Hero Planner

IRC/MSN/AIM/Google Talk. Friend has an IRC server that I talk and RP on.

Google Chrome, with the official forums open, 4chan's /traditional games/ board, BBC News website, various other websites.

And a variety of books: fiction, non-fiction, RPG sourcebooks.

While in game, I have some of the OOC RP global chat channels up, and either roleplay, work on the Unity Vigil base, team with friends or solo. Very rarely do I PuG or do TF's. Sometimes I play about with the AE or try out different arcs.

I'd get too bored of the game without a radio station though.

Make the Archetypes more different then? Let their inherent powers and stats dictate the gameplay experience more than the available power sets?

By this I don't mean a free for all with a scrapper having /Kinetics as a secondary, but Brutes/Tanks/Scrappers/Stalkers have access to the Melee Pool and Armour Pool, with some variations in the pools on account of AT. After all, a Scrapper doesn't need Hide, and a Brute doesn't need Placate.

I could actually see a Stalker with Super Strength. Lunging out of the shadows to break someone, all feral strength like. A guard walks past, unsuspecting before suddenly a fist drives forth out of nowhere to crush his chest. The odds heat up, and the Stalker smashes into the ground to knock his enemies off their feet before hiding in the shadows once more.

Aha, Going Rogue Pre-Download, in Player Questions. Yesterday at 8.06 pm.

Then in Technical Issues and Bugs there was a 'What is this 672mb download?' post at 1.06 am.

I know, I'm terrible to have the audacity to post about something that was asked once in the Player Question board with 2 replies after checking the likely places there'd be an official announcement and not seeing nowt, and doing a quick search.
  22. Just logged out from the game, and the updater's downloading a hefty 672mb patch, looks like the GR Preload is out EU side. Any word US side? Tried to find an announcement about it, to no avail.

    Short answer: No.

    Long answer: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Erudite Answer: I disagree with your conclusion and have the opinion that you have based it on faulty logic and wish to disparage them while citing that expecting the game to censor itself in the provision of costume pieces that may be used to create characters that other companies lay claim to the image to when written in the terms of service of the game that creating such a pastiche is verboten is, quite frankly, ludicrous.

The provisions of the terms of service as stated in the launcher read:

    Quote:
He may not select as his Customer ingame ID the name of another person, or an ID which violates any third party's trademark right, copyright, or other proprietary right...
    Quote:
He may not create Customer-created ingame data thiat is the name/description/title of another person, or which violates any third party's trademark right, copyright, or other proprietary right...
So while it may be fine in your view, in the view of the company it is not fine. It is the opposite of fine. If fine was the Finish of the race, this would be at the start of the race. The company can and will alter costumes and 'Generic' names, if players notice characters that infringe the above points in the terms of service, the correct course of action is to file an in-game petition to the customer service and game moderation team for them to deal with, and not harangue people in Local, Broadcast, Tells or on video content upload sites.

And to sum this rebuttal up with a fine old adage:

Just because you could do something, does not mean that you should.

I could jump off a cliff, but I should not.
I could throw a kipper at Kylie Minogue, but I should not.
I could make FICTIONAL CHARACTER X in game with costume parts and parade around the virtual world pulling a smug expression at my brilliance of crafting a doppelgänger, but no, I should not.

Of course, for being two positional types it'd have to be much lower defence values than say, Frozen Armour in Ice, but Munitions has quite low +Res for its Auto power, so it's not that much of a problem.

Focused Accuracy though would probably have to come quite late in the set to avoid people just dipping into it for one power. Or be replaced with something else.

There's Sleeps, Holds and -Res powers in the Blaster sets already with edited numbers, just the last two being problematic.
