Level Pact doesn't prevent you from being on a team of 8. Just sayin'.
  2. I apologize - I did misread the OP.

I guess I was reading it thru the various anti-KB threads she had previously posted down in S & I (in which the difference between KB & KD was explained to her as being merely a difference in MAG and what that value is).

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=Stormfront_NA

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=207358

I allowed my other reading to color what she was asking in this thread. Probably because it ended with this suggestion:

    Quote:
Would suggesting to the devs to re-look at Knock effects, and split the two into different effects, where MAG is used to see if the effect goes off in the case of Knock-up/down and have no knock away effect regardless of the MAG effect difference; while Knock-Back continues to work under the same mechanics as it is now?

  3. Is the Wiki incorrect?

    Quote:
Two enhancements reduces the duration of Immobilize effects on you by 2.75%.
Three enhancements increases maximum Health by 1.5%.
Four enhancements increases Smashing and Lethal Defense by 3.75%.
Four enhancements increases Melee Defense by 1.875%.
Five enhancements improves your Run Speed by 5%.
Five enhancements improves your Flight Speed by 5%.
Five enhancements improves your Jumping by 5%.

I don't see anything about KB Defense in there. Is it wrapped up in "Melee Defense"?

    Now I'm confused.
  4. Are you sure that Kinetic Combat does what you are seeking?

When I look at its set bonuses, I don't see anything about KB (protection or resistance) at all.

There is a set bonus of 3 pts. KB protection in Kinetic Crash for having 4 pieces of the set - but that one is a Knockback set and 5 of the 6 pieces increase KB.

Also - nice try putting your standard "KB should be KD" suggestion here in the form of a Player Question.

IN the same vein I can't play Stone armour, because I find the playstyle crippling.

That doesn't stop others from enjoying them a lot, and playing them very well. Not does it stop there being people who cant play them at all, and should really give up and go play something easier. Like Solitaire.
    Agreed entirely.

I haven't really bothered to check, but I wonder at whether some of those people who keep making statements that Khelds are so "difficult" because you have to have keybinds, etc., are some of the same people who suggest Masterminds to someone looking for an easy beginning Villains character. I find a MM also potentially very non-intuitive to play (it you want to do it "right" with all the keybinds that have been recommended) and also an AT that has a shifting role depending on the team.

Of course, I play neither my few Khelds nor my few MMs with the binds - so I solo a lot so as not to inflict my non-optimized playstyle on others. And soloing on a Kheld is not much fun at all.

I'm looking forward to finally getting my SoA, though. My highest villain is only level 46. Five years plus, including pre-start weekend for CoV on that character. I *think* I might be able to handle the VEAT.

    New Defiance?

    Linky:

    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Defiance

Main thing is, you don't have to be almost dead in order to use your inherent.

Now, you can shoot the Tier 1 & Tier 2 blasts even when mezzed, and for each blast you fire off, the damage has a multiplier.
  7. Wasn't Hasten 6-slotted with Recharge Redux considered to be one of the "problems" addressed by ED? Or Fast Healing for /Regen 6-slotted with Healing?

What I did not see was an "Open Beta Announcement".
  9. Did they announce that Closed Beta had ended?

At lvl 22(provided that you take stamina at 20) you will have 2 stackable stun powers for the bosses, not to mention a couple of "chance to stun" powers and power push. You should be able to keep most if not all bosses permastunned. The only downside I see to this combo is no buildup.

    Huh?

Energy Manipulation has Build Up in its Tier 3, one of the earliest available.
  11. Bad idea - but so much better in the presentation.

So kudos for the spellcheck & re-read, Power!

But I think you missed a couple of things, BTW.

(The AV would probably have to drop to boss or EB as well, I guess, if the TF was being soloed.)

Frankly, I think the 2 biggest obstacles to running the Moonfire TF have been the high team size and the out-of-the-way location (at least since i8-ish).
Not every character can solo a TF, especially in the 20s.

I'm not familiar with the PvP IOs and like I said I really hope that if they even consider this idea further PvP rewards are made for either PvP only or something.

Granted there are those people that want nothing to do with PvP but I honestly think that even they might get a kick out of something like this if they can get past the fact that they would lose at some point. That would be my best advice and was always the first thing I told anyone in WoW if they asked about PvP... be prepared to lose... a lot... and you'll have fun. Go in and expect it to be as easy as PvE and you'll hate it.
See - here is another problem. I know the game has parts which are "all about" teaming. But there are large parts which really aren't. And there are lots of players who are attracted to exactly that aspect of the game - its "solo friendliness".

I for one would not find it "that much more satisfying to fight someone of (hopefully) equal power". Not every player out there wants to compete against a live person.

I'm glad you find it fun - but please understand I don't, no matter how much you urge me to take part. And truly "no thanks" should be the end of it.

If a "PvP solution" can be devised that doesn't effect me (open world PvP would) without taking too many resources away from what I enjoy like more content and powersets - great! But it isn't very high on my personal priority list for the game. And I don't think I am alone in my stand.
  14. My recommendation is Energy/Electric/Electric. Lots of KB, which is great mitigation for a soloer.

Electricity Manipulation has some cross-over to melee, with a couple of solid melee attack in Havoc Punch & Thunderstrike.

But the main tip I would give you is to remember this mantra while you play your Blaster:

"Not a Tank! Not a Tank! Not a Tank!"
  15. Player Events sounds right, but I suggest you also talk it up a bit with something general in City Life, since not everyone goes to Player Events (I rarely go there).

It wouldn't be a cross post (IMO) if you post something general, like pointing to Player Events.

And I think here is a huge reason not to do this.

Not a slam against P_P, because I have absolutely zero problems with dual or triple boxing if you have the setup to handle it - but to grant even more rewards to it in the form of extra XP seems wrong.

i, as well as many others have said, the only way for prices to start coming down is to create more infl/inf sinks that are just interesting enough for people to use but not so attrative as to keep people from doing other things.
You may be on to something. Pity that the diatribes are so long that most people (OK, other than Hyperstrike) can't make it thru them. (not really a pity, BTW, just in case someone thinks that was serious).

Stop whining over the casual player, when you YOURSELF said you have already purpled your characters.

If you have already farmed and already purpled your alts, Why are you in here whining?

    :edit:

I have never bought money from INF sellers. Why is it that you seem so stuck on RMTers? Is it because your guilty?
You know you can turn your email off in your options and never get another email from an INF seller.

You seem like someone who is worried your account is gonna get BANNED because you bought money, and that is why you are here making such a big deal over a big fat nothing.
I *think* it's that Uruare is a "true believer" that his/her ethics are the only correct way to believe and/or play this game (which I believe is sometimes about robbing folks of their stuff and selling homeless to mad scientists for testing, occasionally about taking over the world, so ironic).

And is about "championing" the downtrodden new player and that mythical "casual player".

Note that a "casual player" apparently can't have *any* 50s at all if you look at Uruare's last diatribe in response to my posts calling him/her long-winded, condescending and "holier than thou" - but if that's the case, that would be just another reason this "casual player" doesn't need purples, right?

Oh, well, I guess I'm just not that ethical or moral. I just don't see that much need to change player behavior because I don't see the big ethical issue. If that makes me a bad person, I guess I will live with it.

Edit: Oh, and I have to agree that Uruare's obsession with RMT sites seems unhealthy.
  19. Personally, I'm looking forward to lots of things from Going Rogue - none of them from UltraMode, since my laptop will likely not be able to run it.

How can someone look at the stuff announced for GR and totally skip over the side switching mechanic and the new content in Praetoria, including a new path for 1-20?

Or did OP confuse Issue 17, the advance stuff from GR, and Going Rogue itself? I know we have had a lot of different announcements of stuff previously thought to be in GR actually coming out a bit earlier, so perhaps that is the case here?

Aye, damn them "moral" grounds. Moral and ethical concerns have no place in business; what kind of crack am I smoking?! Where do I GET such ideas!?!

    <snip>
Uruare - Your posts in this thread have been the most condescending "holier than thou" claptrap and paranoid meanderings accusing almost everyone who has purple enhancements of engaging in morally reprehensible behavior of either purchasing Inf from RMT sites or (gasp!) taking advantage of facets of the Market system to indulge their regrettable thirst for Market PvP. (Not you, of course - you are clearly above such things, since you told us so yourself).

They are also eye-glazing-over and long-winded. How many times do you need to tell us in a single post just how morally bankrupt others are while your point of view is the only true way to regard the game?

Your paranoia over RMT sites almost raises the suspicion that you are more familiar with them than you let on, but I specifically do not accuse you of using them yourself.

See? i haz a big vocabulary, too!

    SG vehicle

Since the mission teleporter is currently purchaseable (in the mac pack? I don't have it and I have nearly everything else) and limited to a single account when purchased - how would it work "like the mission teleporter"?

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have more stuff for the base. I currently haqve an Arachnos Flyer sitting in my Hero SG base hangar because it's the only big vehicle I can put there.

But since there isn't currently a SG mission teleporter, it would involve some overhaul of the game. How much, we don't know - SCR applies.

OK, my bad. So they could have been introduced that way since Striga and Moonfire were there, but they weren't.

I wasn't high level in that issue (read out of Atlas Park yet) so the intro of Khelds was just meaningless on the Patch Notes.

If I never see a purple, well, that's my own fault/decision/laziness. The inf I do have is a result of using tips from this forum (thanks, Ebil Ones), and for me it's enough for now. I firmly beleive that if I wanted to take the time I could accumulate a lot more, but right now I'm having more fun doing other things. It's a game, it has rules that govern what can happen in the market, and if players don't like what those rules permit, they're free to complain about those rules, I suppose. But don't complain about the people who are operating within those rules as they now stand.
This is me, except I have over 5 years of playing.

It always irks me when I see people claiming to "champion" the casual player on the boards as some sort of downtrodden sad sack who is being persecuted by "the Man"/ebil marketeers. Those people invariably come off as presenting this mythical casual player as someone not being given the choiceor the chance to play market PvP due to time constraints.

The chance is there, the choice is there. I have freely chosen not to worry about so much. I don't enjoy marketeering, but I don't begrudge those who do.
  24. OK - I'm pretty much fine with that.

I do think that there is a "casual informed player" subset out there, who understands how the Market works but chooses not to play in it very much.

I also think there are "casual players" who don't farm anything at all, not even Merits & AE Tickets. Those players come to the Market, see it as expensive, and then decide not to participate. Those players then go back to what they were previously doing - playing the game thru story arcs or papers/scanners or whatever else they found "fun".

Sometimes this game is only about blasting thru foes without thought of rewards other than stress relief.
  25. Can I be Player Type G?

I kinda do a mix of all of these, except I do not try to buy multiples of anything for resale.

I'm savvy enough to know to check crated IO cost vs. Recipe cost, taking into account whether I have the salvage or will need to go bid on it, and taking into account my personal calculation of what my time is worth (not an in-game Inf calculation, but rather real world calculation of whether I would enjoy buying it nao vs waiting more).

I truly think this is the real "casual *informed* player" at least as far as the Market is concerned.

All too often "casual player" is defined by someone at the beginning of their rant as not terribly bright, which irks me no end.
