Dr. Czernin's belt and sash ought to be in the game! There could be a whole set of occupational belts and sashes. But do these first.
Truly awesome backstories and art. -
Some snaps of my first PB, started last week, called The Altruist. I was going for hippy-cream tinted hero in old-school tights before the costume editor led me astray.
With his helmet on he looks like a three-headed matchstick. With his helmet off, the Doofus hair and the Vanguard mask looks like a furry cross between an Alien Skull and a puppy. He plays like it too. I have much to learn.
With cameos of Ice Ice Baby, Green Ax, Solarus and a yellow hero from Exalted. -
Sounds a bit like the Luddite Summoning powerset, the one that they posted to you and you had to cut it out and glue it together. It was just way too complicated.
Especially the bit where you had to boil down a horse to make glue. -
Thanks dd! Thanks Vexxa, you're spot on about the plushies. They watch over my workspace and make sure I think about the little things. Well spotted Fireheart, I guess my boot fetish is a bit obvious if artists are putting them front and center. So I'll quickly move on to another kind of twisted...
Gambear1er created the weirdest ever picture of Airhead (with Janet Planet, and an irradiated marshmallow) a couple of pages back in this thread. With his current Limited Commission (limited in scope, not really in number) 100-sketches project it was an opportunity to add Knitwit to the fray:
-
Shane Braithwaite came through again with a beautiful portrait of Knitwit!
I combined it with the Airhead portrait to make a nice desktop (or perhaps even a book jacket). The image links through to dA.
-
Use charcoal?
These chibis are dang cute. -
Aah! It's your Fonting of Use. Hard to see.
But your base, it is easy to see. Very beautiful! -
"NYEEEEEEEEEEOOM!"
I love how she's not making that noise, she's thinking that noise. Epic. -
The ignominy of Boba Fett. Into the Great Pit of Carkoon^H^H^H^H^H^H Dark Astoria...
"Ooh cool, a sarlacc!" -
This is a fantastic piece of art! Wish I could post on this board from home yesterday when I saw it. It really does feel like CoH world, raised a notch.
Great hero/villain combo. And amazing water effects. -
It may just be me being late to the party, but Shane Braithewaite does some astonishing stuff, more painterly but still dynamic comic poses.
-
This is a great piece of storytelling, yet works perfectly well as a poster. Nice work!
Yay Powers Division! -
Maria Jenkins.
Okay so it's relative. She's sexier than a tattooed fishman on zombie day! -
You've got a great knack for blending pencil colours. I especially like the Crab - particularly how the texture of his arms matches the "fleshy" bits of his claws.

This thread is meaningless without pictures. Then a link above sends discussion elsewhere too. But thanks Tartyrsause for posting here!
This is still my favorite forum, favorite posters, generous, sympathetic, and talented. No soccer moms/dads, so I stay. But I can only say that now that I'm at work, this place is the one forum that won't let me post from home for the last several months (login successful, but immediately forgotten). That is using the exact same computer. I doubt there'd be any momentum to fix that for one Singaporean, so just know I really enjoy the pictures here from my mute home. -
Barney to win in the 12th.
Extinction Time!
Puceball Special -
C'mon! Shortening the month? Isn't that against the spirit of this thing? It didn't happen last month! What next? Are you going to limit us to the visible colour spectrum too?
-
Thanks Stone, Lord Goat and Caemgen! The two plushies / dollywogs continue to cause havoc in the spare room any time nobody is looking. Here's the picture I posted of their arrival in Singapore from Layla's yarn doll thread:
"Are we there yet?"
Also, since it's been a while since I updated this thread, here is another cross-post-pic. Caemgen commissioned the most amazing Airhead, and I have been happy to revisit Caemgen's thread anytime I want to see him again, but here he is just to make this collection complete:
Caemgen's comments on dA linked through that picture are spot on. I'll add that Airhead and Gorm are a logical combination considering the slang definition of 'gorm'...
Next up, shiny and new, it's Airhead by Shane Braithwaite! Fireheart is largely to blame (and congratulate) for encouraging me to pursue this. I'm very glad I did. Even with Fireheart's suggestion of "Airhead's serious side", I had imagined something less so. I had described a waist-up portrait of Airhead making a CoH 'invention', but with a ragdoll Airhead tied to his temple using his tie (since two heads being better than one), and looking very stressed out. But in the absence of a thumbnail the result turned out more like the invention-ing screenshots I provided. I don't mind at all, Airhead is much more of a dude this way! Shane's talent is cool realism, so this is the right result, I'll try someone crazier for the comic version. That can wait. Shane's talent for fabrics is mind-blowing.
Thank you Layla, Jazzcarmona and Shane. These are magic. -
Thanks Mr Captain Man, I'll take "it's mental" as short for "mental capacity". Perhaps potential to add some colour next month, if I survive.
1. daveyj3 - the textures are delicious, but the infinite detail in the biomass almost subsumed by the colour scheme... priceless! "I just kept looking at it"
2. Leaf-nin... Tartyrsause... Leaf-nin... Tartyrsause... Leaf-nin! Another masterpiece, I find myself staring and wondering. (what IS he doing?)
3. Tartyrsause, for rockin' the Carnival belt, Gunslinger bow and Barbarian booties. -
Great post, Stone Daemon!
I agree totally, Incarnate abilities can be easily explained through roleplay, assisted perhaps by blinking slowly at key moments during the power animations.
My main is a completely non-violent superhero. He has gotten to the Incarnate content through copious use of his Sleep attack, in addition to my own narcolepsy whenever I press the 'wrong key'. Ion Judgement is simply a "satellite mounted sleep power", and anyone lying on the ground merely lacks the rigor to sleep on his feet. Ion Judgement has a long activation time, sufficient to turn around 180 degrees. If he didn't see it, it didn't happen.
I'm also researching triffids, my gut tells me they could hold the key to roleplaying this guy. -
I wish I could post from home. It's only this board that locks me out. So posting a bit late... love the cards! And Pyre.. I see a firecage in someone's future. Scarily hot chick!
-
Gah! Another brilliant piece! Those blades look like they actually give her a ghost of a chance in the Comrade Hero universe. The left one looks practical, which makes it scarier. Pliers, not sheep shears, right?
Shane really does create masterpieces. If I could only get my brain around "Airhead noir" he'd be my first choice. -
I've wanted to get an image out of my head for some time, but I haven't put the in-game reference images together so I haven't chased a commission. Lunchtime today I figured I'd get the thumbnail done at least. Since these toons are showing off, I figured I could post it here if I put in a second hour after work... apologies to Kaemgen for my sad skillz. It's also his fault for puting insane three dimensional Celtic knotwork on his model sheet. Ugh! I know I got it wrong.

Catgirl Conniption
Why are there so many, threads about catgirls,
And what's on their underside.
Catgirls are visions, but only illusions,
And catgirls en masse leads to pride.
What's so unsheathing that keeps us believing,
It's something that I cannot flee.
Someday we'll aggro, the catgirl conniption,
The scratching, the bleeding, and me. -
Thanks Ms. Rue, that would be awesome! Do let me know how it goes. I've only played so many toons, any comparisons would be really helpful. From my limited experience this appears to be an effective toon with a fair bit of flexibility / optional powers.
I'm soloing missions at level 44, +2/x3, and taking Fighting Pool powers instead of the build above but I still need to test solo against AVs and EBs more and do more TFs.
