Quote:Dont think i have seen more than two of them (thats not saying your wrong btw)Superman costumes off the top of my head:
1. Original with the triangle shield.
2. Fleisher animated costume with the black shield and red "S".
3. Classic
4. Superman "Blue"
5. Superman "Red"
6. Superman's New Krypton military guild uniform
7. Clark Kent's suit/tie/glasses
8. Superman in lead-shielded, anti-Kryptonite armor
9. Superman with mullet
10. Black recovery suit from "Reign of the Supermen"
Clearly Superman has multiple costume slots.
I know it's been said, but the costume creator is a huge draw for this game. It may not be a big draw for you; more power to you. There are parts of the game that don't interest me, but I don't begrudge upgrades to them if it pleases some part of the fanbase and/or draws in new players.
I never said you were 'stupid' for having your oppinion but sitting and making costumes for 9 quid a month and not playing does not sound too sensible
I am not going to quoting everything i read but i'll try to answer it all.
Whats the point in the game? To Rescue/conquer the world? Why do anything else then what is designed for? And please dont tell me to find another game to play because this is just silly.
I have not said the character creator is crap or anything of the sort. Its by far the best there is no denying it. But I also played PSO from start to finish with the same costume (as you couldnt change it) i cant remember ppl complaining about it.
If you take the MMO off the RPG Roleplaying is the only thing left and if they are only making costume thats roleplay then they really aint playing the game are they what happened to missions and stuff? thats all roleplay. there is alot of great lore behind this game most of which i do know but its good to let a character run through it growing and changing.
Most of the alternate costumes ppl pointed out are from different superman series different franchises this does not count superman would have to be about 80 years old (if not older) if we counted all of them.
If you guys dont buy games because it might look bad or you cant change the way you look you have probably missed out on alot of good games I am currently playing ToS2 and yes it looks very bad graphically but the storyline is just as amazing as all the other TO series
DA:O there is not customization in that after you first create your toon all powers look the same and there is not even a respec feature (yet) Does that make this game crap? I dont see how your ' it would not be successful without customization' argument comes from where this is the first game with such customization -
Quote:I think it woulda done fine tbh. my first ever toon has still got the exact same costume he had since the 2 day headstart of CoH EU release infact the only thing i do to original costumes is add capes and aura (not even all of my toons have these) and NO weapon/power customization. This is an MMORPG right not a MMOCostume contest. You start with same cosy in final fantasy and end with same cosy. Games that dont have such diverse costume creators survive do they not everyone could name them. You dont see superman and spiderman changing there costumes every few days... nope there costume is who they are not a hobby.I didn't make it sound like that at all. You merely quoted one sentence from my post and twisted it with hyperbole.
There is plenty to do in CoX, but if you don't care about character customization....there are alot of games out there that are better than this one. If you took the character customization out of this game, I pretty sure it would have failed in it's first year. How many people would have stuck with this game for 5+ years if you had to choose from 20 premade characters?
Why do you think power customization and weapon customization were such huge success stories? Why after 5 + years is there still costume contests every single day?
It's not really an opinion. This game's biggest attribute is the character creation. This was true on release, and it's true now.
Things that dont impress me about GR
Graphics upgrade....Yes my PC can play them but its kinda unnecessary since i have played for the last 4 and a bit years with current 'Progress for progress sake must be discouraged :P'
Costumes and possibly stupid moving hair. As stated I dont think it adds anything to the game and I just want to spite GG to not having the hair thing
Things i am looking forward to
The story lines. I have done every arc both CoH and CoV and would love a flourish of new contacts and story lines (and not all related to same zone!)
Endgame content (i just hope this aint a level cap increase or simular)
What i would like to happen
Debt cap increased 4 or 5 times it is now.
Exp curve re-re-adjustment Far too easy/quick to get to 50
Add more Ouroboros arcs (there are alot of hero arcs not available this would add to re-playability with current toons)
Add 'team with open spaces' button to aide getting teams! -
Quote:I am not the only one with my opinion and of-course its not every-ones opinion. There is always people like you with opinions not based on logic! What does it matter what you look like when smashing CoT teeth in? It would seem to me that spending days designing costumes actually is'ent playing the game you pay for. And as i am not some jumped up noob as you assume i have seen thousands of costume permutations and seen them all pieces in creator. No matter what your character looks like in a team all i want you to do is contribute not a catwalk! It's a good thing your opinion does not represent the whole community then, isn't it?
Personally, I love costumes. Each of my characters has a costume in each and every slot available, and I get those slots as soon as I can. I have spent, almost literally DAYS designing costumes. It may not change your view on anything, but it sure as heck makes ME happy!
Costumes DO make this game. If it weren't for them, you can guarantee I would have quit a long time ago. -
Really people there is nothing to get excited about yet! a couple of icons and a screenshot. Costumes dont make this game. Infact some of my 50s dint even get a new costume until they were 50. Lots of my toons have upwards of 73 free tailor sessions I really doubt adding more costumes is going to make me more inclined to make more costumes.
I realize its not done yet but it looks to me as if there is nothing much to do in that passage way it will be just another place you superspeed through and take no notice of. -
Quote:From ZombieMan:
The best way to stabilize FireFox (I'm assuming, since this has been a recurring problem for FF users) for these new boards is:
1. Delete all CoH cookies: with both city* and coh* names.
2. Disable CoolIris.
3. Reboot to clear all caches
4. Enter the boards with the http://boards.cityofheroes.com address.
I didn't need to disable CoolIris, but did the rest, and it worked fine.
Thanks for this i'll try it. I am guessing since A) i have never heard of and B) cant find a trace of cooliris i aint got it -
I dont seem to be able to stay logged into forum i have had a look around see if i could find others with same problem but i cannot. I need to log in twice before it even properly logs me on and after a couple of hours i am magically logged out (without even navigating off page) pretty sure its not a cookies issue as this is the only site with this problem and i stay logged on at the same time on other Vbulletin boards (i tested this)
At first i thought it was just the forum auto log off but that does not explain why i have to log in twice or why the remember me box does nothing -
Perhaps you can tell me where you keep your power ranger morpher that enables you change not only your values but aspirations

Quote:Lets use the poker analagy. Your playing poker at your friends house. your competitive your all the same level then your friends 10 year old kid pops up and asks to play. You cant say no as thats quiet mean but then do you A) slaughter him quickly and make him never come back or B) help him and teach him how to play so that in 3 years time he is the one everyone is gunna be trying to beat? From his 'Introduction' section:
Right off, CoH is NOT a zero-sum game.
My getting to 50 does not hinder your getting to 50.
Me getting a full set of purples does not hinder you in getting a full set of purples.
Me amassing a billion influence does not mean there is less for you.
Poker is a zero-sum game. Every dollar that one person wins means someone had to lose a dollar.
I personally always would help especially with the underdog i would lose if it meant helping. I CANNOT understand why ppl wouldnt. That is EXACTLY whats wrong with the world today -
I am so happy to be here now more than ever! i love you guys! :P
This is just one of the responces i gotQuote:fun ayeMy god man wake up! WAKE UP!
You are now playing a competative game!
You are now in the fighting game genre.
Fighters, Shooters, Strategy. These genres are CUT THROAT.
There is no mercy. noobs die and pros win. Survival of the fittest is the code. -
Quote:thanks i was affraid of that. but it was the same in Worms back in the day SFC3 Populous the begining and Phantasy star online (dreamcast)The friendliness of CoX is an anomaly. The majority of games online are simply not as friendly as CoX in my experience. This game is more like the exception that proves the rule.
The type of game i am drawn too are anomolies i guess.. -
Quote:There is a difference in game genres but i am still the same person same personality it seems i need to change my personalitly depending on the game...Generally I help people out when I can, offering advice and some helpful tips and tricks.
As for SF4 there's a big difference between Coh and SF.
CoH is largely a cooperative experience whereas SF is entirely a competitive experience.
I don't know who you mean by the guys in SF, but the guys I know from SF while playing to win have also been helpful when asked for advice.
And i was refering to the streetfighter4 forums i asked for help in combating what i thought was 'cheap' players only to be ridiculed and called a 'scrub' -
Now i have been playing CoH for 5 years now and i STILL love the game. The kind of ppl you meet are generally nice ppl willing to give a hand to newbies. Those who know me in game know i can be harsh but I always try to answer questions and help where i can. From running a tf to sitting talking through builds/game play with newbies.
I have recently started playing Streetfighter 4 online and tho its not a MMORPG I still want friendliness and sportsmanship when playing. However its seems these 2 things (streetfighter and friendliness) cannot coexist.
Here in city of* i have been accustomed to things being nice and relaxed and helpful to other for example http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=204181 this thread shows how ppl react to new ppl to the game. reading through the thread you dont see a single sign of PL TO 50 GET PURPLES GO PWN there is not even any go read/watch videos/guides to playing. Its all very nice, so nice i think i have been spoiled when it comes to online gaming.
As previously stated i dabble a little in streetfighter 4 i aint a raw noob but i aint a mega combo king either. I play because i enjoy the game. This apparantly is the wrong attitude to have in games! note this site http://www.sirlin.net/ptw catagorically describes why my/our attitude is and i quote 'superfluous and counterproductive' the guys in street fighter would have me powerlevel/farm/gank in anyway just to get ahead. I cannot belive this is the attitude becoming of gamers these days. am i getting just too old and wrapped in my cloak of niceness or is it something else i am having trouble sorting right from wrong here. i'd like your oppinions (fyi this IS CoH topic as its about your gamer attitude IN game) -
I wouldnt like it to be made easier there is enough easy stuff to do. That being said it is quiet annoying when even a good team (ie good players) cant take them down because you never brought a l33t team (character based)
-
Quote:Shes right. I remember telling her to stop going on about it years ago. she just does not realize noone cares!

TBH I completely agree with the OP. Graphics for me has always been bottom of priority list. Its not the graphics that make the game its the game that makes the game! Dual pistols looks stupid and OTT imo but i know alot of ppl want it so good thing they're adding it. personally woulda prefered a Thugs style dual pistols. new MM primary is lush tho and more game content is always nice
-
Quote:I lolled. Would seem more prudent to fix them both!Hess TF is being fixed, and the issue with Amy in the KH TF has been logged as a bug.
I understand why the OP did things this way as it got everyones attention and will be fixed (eventually) however if he had just /bug ed it i highly doubt anything woulda come of it till somone else made a forum post! -

Quote:I dont get this PoV at all. There is nothing wrong with less powers. nothing wrong with not having SOs. There is nothing wrong with not having stamina. Period!I haven't read the entire 12 pages, but I just wish that Exemplering didn't take away your powers. I still haven't set foot in Oroporus because I refuse to play my level 50 with level 12 powers.
Exemplering should just give a debuff to the damge multiplier...Not take away powers, Enhancments and IO bonuses. Why would i want to play my favorite toon at a level he was not designed for?
This is why I always avoid teaming with lower level folks..No, I don't team much. -
umm wait does this mean you can start tfs without getting fillers too i'd like to solo sstf3!
-
Quote:Umm no it doesent! its fun from level 1 - 49! Stamina is not a requirement! Neither are SOs with IOsWhy in the heck should it take days to get to level 20?
The game doesnt start to get enormously fun until lvl 32 when you have lots of powers.
level 1 - 20 in hours 5 years ago... umm no i was here and i was playing like 10 hours aday unless you was pling i dont see you doing it in mere hours -
Quote:I dont see the point in leveling fast. Nothing is gained from having more 50s i hardly play my 50s and 2 of them i never play quiet pointless. end game content is shocking. farming for inf and drops is boring. Playing the game as it was meant to be played (originally) is surely the most fun. i do love running other ppls MA arcs (know of any truely hard ones with original storylines (i prefer comic/how i got my superpowers stories) pm me and i'll do them usually solo) as i have done almost every arc in the game (still aint killed 200 toxics villain side) thats whats fun. farming for inf when its so easily gained anyway (2 purpled 50 and 100,000,000 saved with zero farming) is illogical surely=P honestly if you really want to stick around in your pre20 stage, take your time, solo, do regular teams or if you're really loving the early game, turn off your xp untill your tired of it.
wow lots of ()()()()()()() -
Quote:Really! dont already level FAR too fast as it is. Its not supposed to take mere hours to get to level 20. Days at minimum a week pref. Its supposed to be fun and ROLE PLAYING not as abridged as the harry potter movies.
As for low level characters missing out on accelerated leveling speeds, we are increasing the rewards they earn from level 1 to 20 (about 20% across the board) so that every player can get through the lower levels faster, not just those that know the tricks. -

Quote:Hi!
I'm Eco. I'm British, Welsh t be exact, and I started playing CoH before the EU version went live. When it did, I didn't transfer over because I'd already built up a few lvl 30= heroes, and a small base, and basically was settled enough on the US servers to not want to switch.
I've been happy there ever since.
My personela dream is for a game merge of the EU and US servers, tbh, so that every player of CoH could choose to play on any of the 8 US or 3 EU servers, but that's unlikely to happen.
When I learnt that the EU and US servers were being merged, I was well pleased at the thought of having my fellow Brits 'join' the forums I've grown to love.
Now I see that there's this 'European' forum, nesteld within the English section, I'm afraid that all the Britst will stay here and the yanks (and me and other Brits of my ilk) will stay in the City Life forum, and the integration I so looked forward to won't be as easy and thorough.
I'm asking all European native English speakers, therefore, to view the City Life forum as a home rather than this one.
Its unfortunate in my opinion that even though BOTH US and EU foprums have essentially moved to different web locations, the EU foprums have had to change their names - this gives the impression that the EU forums are moving to the US ones. This IMO isn't a bad thing, tbh, but putting this 'European' English forum here smacks of 'sure, you can use the bus, but you have to sit at the back'.
English speaking CoH players should integrate IMO. There are more US players than Brits - the City Lifers aren't going to move to this forum, its been their home for 5 years. We have a chance to merge communities for the better, let's take it.
Irrespective of how you take me plea, here, I'd also like to take this, my first chance to speak to EU players of CoH, to say: Yay! Welcome! Isn't CoH AMAZINGLY Cool?!?! I'm really stoked that I can finally say HI to my fellow Brits (especially any Wleshmen out there!), and...er...that's about it I guess...hm...ooh - I can plug my AE review thread, I guess!. It's...er, hmm...
Where's the URL thingummy stuff etc...
Ah sod it, i'll have to have a look..
In the meatime, heres the URL for my old review thread:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=138258
- Don't take much notice of the first few reviews, I was operating under a wrongfully harsh paradigm (though some of Venture's arcs are a little bit dull, i still believe). The reviews from Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend are where the thread gets fun to read IMO.
And my new thread (which is really where my game gets good IMO) is:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=144170
FUN is what CoH is all about IMO.
Lets all have as much as we can, eh?
Witam!
See you all in City Life, I hope.
Eco.
PS in the event that I'm alone in believing that City Life and this forum would best be merged into one, i'm quite happy to hope for two equally vibrant and dynamic communites to flourish here; I only hope there's some great crossover potential to come from it too.
TBH the whole idea of a EU section in the 'American boards' is slightly offensive!
1 i though it was a MERGER not a delete EU push them all over to america!
2Quote:The European Lounge Feeling like small fishes lost in a vast ocean? Missing the European family feel? This is the place if you want to discuss all things european.
USA = 3,794,066 square miles (i realize there alot of points against this argument but inlight of making my sort of half ***** attempt at being controversial i will neglect to point them out)
3 Alot of us have only played for only a year less that you USAians thats not gunna make you all that much better than us...(if any ¬.¬) What ever you are talking about i am sure we can keep up. ROFL you FOTM N0ob killing AE baby farming mutliple accounting noob! -.-
If we are to merge summat properly surely allowing segregation (even promoting) is going to be systemically counterproductive & eventually somone is gunna make a stupid post like this one *chokes on long words*
Surely you have to have sections for none english speaking players but there are lots of players that dont speak just the 3 languages on this forum!
Go on and blast/flame/insult me. tell me its in the 'for fun' section. Say more ppl will apprecieate it more than not. truth is its still illogical, counterproductive to a unified player base & ever so slightly offensive!
