    I know nothing

I've been doing the Posi TF with my tank exemped to 15 (normally level 50) over the last few nights and it's the first time in almost a year that I've played a tank with no aura. I have to say, if I hadn't had taunt I'd just have been a pretty poor scrapper and a serious underperformer in a team that also consisted of a PB, a scrapper and a blaster. Hell, without my aura I was having to taunt like crazy. And belive me, a Kheldian will appreciate that taunt when the Quants and Void Stalkers appear.

I don't really get the argument against taunt, especially for Inv tanks that don't get a taunt aura until level 18. Even if you are absolutely adamant that you want to try tanking without a taunt I'd say get it and respec it out later or else you're not much of an asset.

At least there's one crumb of comfort from the latest patch that makes taunt aura work on AVs and GMs once again, albeit it's not auto-hit and there's a -20% accuracy penalty. Still better having taunt.

    I know nothing

I've got an Inv/Fire tank and although it takes a few levels to get going properly I find it's a very good combo for teaming and soloing. Enough has been said about Inv but fiery melee gives decent damage output and has great AoEs for grabbing aggro when you team.
  3. I can't remember exactly how I've slotted fire sword circle (or combustion for that matter) but with AoEs I tend to favour acc over damage as I build up slots, just to make sure I can actually hit as much of the spawn as possible. The first time I got combustion I hated it because I hadn't really got the whole thing about grabbing aggro. Now I love it as it may be low damage and a bit slow to fire off but it's a great attack for grabbing lots of aggro and not really worth slotting for damage IMO. Fire sword circle on the other hand is a good "grind 'em down" attack so a nice balance there is good.
  4. Cya when you get back hun. Hopefully you wont have the broadband problems I had when I moved house

  5. Gratz to Dark Remedy for getting her first 50 last night

It took a 5 hour marathon on the night but it was great fun along the way, so well done hun and look forward to teaming with your Kheldian

So much Fun Teaming with ya Scrap in the early mornings usually Pie Eyed

    YOU?? Pie eyed?? Surely not

  7. I'm now levelling the first toon I created (Kyresh MS/SR) after abandoning him for so long and even after a respec I'm still not happy with the build but I have to say I'm really enjoying the toon despite this.

I've got an unused respec I plan to use at level 28, which is just a bar or two away, so hopefully I can sort things then. I'm toying with the idea of only playing him to level 30 though and respeccing for PvP. I say that now though, but if I get the scent of level 50 I may change my mind
  8. Woo gratz mate Wish I'd been there.
  9. Thanks. I tired it on test though and found I had to 3 slot it or I had a brief period of downtime. That was with a level 27 scrapper and two level 25 SOs. 2 x 30 SOs might have been enough, but I didn't try it.

Thing is people tend to relax in my experience, after the first few mobs people become a bit laid back in their vigilance, a bit settled, the mission can become something of an "oh this is easy" and due to the laidbackness forget to apply what it is that makes it easy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree, a fairly straight forward mission can go smelly pretty quickly when people think things are too easy and start doing their own thing too much. On teaming in general though, I've been experimenting with Teamspeak recently and I've found the easier communication makes a huge difference. Especially if you're like me and have a tendency to output gibberish when trying to type quickly in battle.

  11. Interesting post Shannon. I dont have weave on my inv tank and I keep wondering whether I should try it or not. Still not decided as it means I need to sacrifice something else and at the moment the only pool powers I have are fly and fitness with everything else being concentrated in my primary and secondary. I like my attack chain and I built the tank to be able to solo as well as team with so it might come down to sacrificing primaries to get weave. Res energy/elements seem like the obvious candidates to be specced out but then I need to find something else. Descisions decisions. A run out on test may be looming I reckon.

    [ QUOTE ]
but as most tanks i will wager will tell you that often you have to sort the sapper out for yourself as no one else does.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I know and really trust the person who says they'll sort the sapper for me I just keep an eye on it but don't let it interfere with my handling of the spawn as a whole. If I don't know or yet trust the person I'll sort the sapper myself. Things like this are fairly easy to deal with when you can trust your teammates to do their jobs.

    WWR is back!

More likely get stomped on for me. But what the hell, it's all fun

    WWR is back!

Finally, someone suggests doing something that doesn't start at 7PM

Is this a general everyone for themselves if it moves stomp on it affair then?
  14. Excuse the daft question, but what exactly is needed to make it perma? Will 3 recharge redux do it or is hasten or quickness requried?
  15. Can you confuse a drone? I'd guess not but as I've never had a toon with confuse I couldn't say.
  16. Wooot...well done hun. Big big hugs

And umm...as I'm in a mish with you I better get back before you notice I've gone

  17. How long does it typically take and what sort of date/time you have in mind?

As you know I'm on for a fair few hours most (who am I kidding, every) nights but I hate commiting to things before 10pm in case such things as RL distract me.

That said, I fancy doing some trials and TFs when I can.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Hey... anytime one of us calls .. the rest come running. That's one of the wonderful things about you all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think I'll carve that into a plaque called "Why I love this place and the people"
  19. I don't have the willpower to recount it here. Look in the PvP forum and you'll get the idea though.
  20. [ QUOTE ]

In the case of your friend:
    1. Duels in PvP zones are fair game!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fair enough. If you're in the open I reckon your fair game as well. I would let someone duel though but maybe that's just me. I'm not sure but I think the duel came about because of the two villains in the zone at the time one refused to leave the base.

    [ QUOTE ]

    2. Attempting a duel near either base is just going to attract attention

    [/ QUOTE ]

The duel wasn't near the base. The droning is something of a side issue that arose from the original problem. TPing into mobs but not following through. Repeatedly.

    [ QUOTE ]

    3. If being repeatedly tp'd into the base is annoying you then MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE!

    [/ QUOTE ]

See the point above. It's general it's use of TP in PvP and not specifically droning I'm talking about.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Could you not teleport the teleporter out and gank him?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unfortunately we had one of those round robin "ok, so who HASN'T respecced TP Foe out then?" Well, kind of anyway but non of us had it and I was wishing I hadn;t repecced it out.

Thanks for all the replies. However, I realise these things are never clear-cut and you're only hearing things from my perspectiv, but in the just under a year I've been playing it was the most frustrating behaviour I've encountered from another player. I've been ganked in PvP many a time I've tried it out and it has never ever bothered me. Apart from anything else last night's events just became incredibly dull.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Wasn't at SC last night so can't really say how severe the situation was, but from the sounds of it, it was more of a case of too many heroes being too close to villains base.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To be honest the zone was almost empty until I and a few other friends arrived after the problem had kicked off.

As far as I'm aware the duel was being fought out of range of the base but the other player indicated that he had no intention of letting it happen and would would then leave the base to use TP then return. At no point am I aware of him engaging in actual PvP beyond the use of TP.

The droning was more of an annoyance, but just setting out to annoy people who actually want to PvP surely can't be good for the popularity of PvP?

One of the reasons I'm asking this is whether PvPers think it's acceptible or not. I fully appreciate that it may not be breaking the rules, but I'd kind of like to know whether putting up with this sort of behaviour is just part and parcel of the CoX PvP experience.

  23. Being only an occassional PvPer I'd welcome some opinions on this.

Last night I received a plea from help from a freind who in some difficulty in Siren's Call. I headed along just in time to see her being TPed into a bunch of mobs. Aparently this had been happeneing repeatedly since she had entered the zone (maybe not always mobs, I wasn't there) and it was now becoming difficult to avoid debt.

Now this isn't a whinge about the use of TP foe, and normally I'd say all tactics are valid, but what bugged me here was that the villain who was doing this made it pretty clear, on broadcast, that he had no intention of leavin the base and would continue to TP people around and use the drones to kill them. A tad annoying as the villain in question was the bounty during all this.

My friend had arranged a duel with a villain in the zone but everytime they started to fight she would be TPed away, to the annoyance of all concerned. Sure, use the arena you might say but it happened when the zone was quiet and was a spur of the moment thing. Sutrely if you plan on sitting in the base and using drones and mobs to kill people you can leave thm alone for a few minutes to actually, you know, have some fun in the zone. Or do I expect too much of?

So...are tactics like this just what you have to put up with in PvP or is it tantamount to griefing?

If it's just something you have to put up with then I'm not surprised PvP isn't very popular in CoX.

    Anyway, opinions welcome.

  24. Just wanted to say thanks to the Gossipers who heard the plea for help last night and immediately came to Siren's Call to help deal with what was becoming a particularly unpleasant, and IMO petitionable, situation.

So thanks, in no particular order, to Mistress Heal, Mystie, Raz, Cookie and anyone else that was there but not in the team.

I dont actually know how it all panned out in the end though as at 4:10am I sorely needed bed and the three hours sleep I was able to get before work.
