Quote:Totally. Those Facebook movie teaser trailers have been the most slick and original I've seen in a long while. Here's one. I don't and will never subscribe to Facebook but I have to see this David Fincher film.Y'know what? I am actually intrigued and interested by the Facebook movie, so I can't rule this project out yet.
So sure, give us a Google film too. -

KITTEH!! choice: Bruce the Cat vs the Springer Puppy
I don't usually go trawling Youtube for cute videos but woah, there are a scary number of them out there. Had to pick a video with a springer pup in it, because springer spaniels are awesome dogs. -
ABMV choice: Insane Clown Posse - "Miracles"
The video was bad, the message was worse, the reaction was awesome, the internet meme was spawned. -
Quote:That one was on my shortlist too. Glad someone picked it.
Seriously, a draft of nothing but animated shorts/Youtube vids would be awesome... -
Kind of a new comic, but I'm enjoying it very much. It's a continuous story arc from the very start, so I link you to the first page: Awesome Hospital
-
So many awesome animations left to choose from, it was really tough to pick between my favourites. In the end I went with one which I've seen the largest number of times, and it still delivers a happy mix of amazement, nostalgia and I-wish-this-was-a-real-game every single time.
My (Animation) pick: Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight (NSFW in places) -
Isn't the music video category is for bad (or so-bad-they're-good) videos? That's how I read it anyway.
(A round-about way of saying I found the above video is brilliant and awesome and that DMystic has good taste. ) -
Quote:The Minotaur is the only Big Guy I build for Blitzing, Horns is an excellent advantage. All the others, even the Rat Ogre (who is very similar to the Minotaur) I build as the usual blocker. I do agree in general that making the Big Guy a large annoying obstacle is a very good tactic.Meh. I do kinda hate wasting a Blitz on a guy who might not go through with it. It might be wasteful, but I prefer to just get my Minotaur Block if he doesn't have it and Tentacles, then try to set him up as an obstacle people are forced to move around.
Speaking of Tentacles. On its own it's not as much fun as Tentacles with Shadowing. Guaranteed to ruin the day of Skavens and Skinks sooner or later. And when that Skink does get hit, that Stunty trait will come back to hurt it fatally.
As an example, in my current single player campaign in the video game, I have a rank 5 Minotaur who learned Juggernaut, Claws, Pro and +1 MA. I'm so happy I spent the double for Pro, it makes all the difference and makes the guy quite a reliable engine of slaughter.
Pro's re-roll doesn't need a Loner check, and if the 50% Pro check is failed it can still be re-rolled with a TRR (which does need a Loner check). Basically, if my Minotaur throws a block or blitz every turn I only have a 1 in 16 chance of failing Wild Animal while I still have TRRs left. Obviously that's a lot better than the unskilled 1 in 6 chance, and unless I'm unlucky I shouldn't lose my blitz than once a game.
Finally, Juggernaut replaces Block for blitzing so I don't feel I'm missing Block at all.
Oh yeah, and Tentacles and Shadowing (and Tackle) is good fun! I like Disturbing Presence too, especially when combining it with Pass Block. -
I will admit Lizardmen can be a bit of a coin toss. I just try to weather the Saurus and Kroxigor, pressure the Skinks and orchestrate triple dice blocks on the Skinks. Those 3-dice blocks are where my TRRs tend to get used up too. Of course a good opponent will be doing everything he can to avoid this tactic.
The Kroxigor is scary fast but I find the Minotaur is the best Big Guy, hands down. Love a Frenzy- and Horns-boosted blitz. And failing Wild Animal doesn't remove your tackle zone, unlike Bone Head/Very Stupid. -
Beware! Spoilers in this post:
I utterly hated that they bring Moriarty into it so early. Holmes is a fantastic character in his own right and doesn't need this nemesis in every last adaptation he's in. It's my pet peeve for Holmes adaptations in general, and my only major gripe for the new show. Holmes is an ever-interesting flawed hero, but Moriarty is a dull vanilla villain. He wasn't and isn't needed.
As for the guy who portrayed him, not at all convinced. I definitely think he went too nutty, a shame when Cumberbatch is playing Holmes so well as a believable sociopathic genius. I just don't buy that this Moriarty could reach the position he did in the criminal underworld and be that kooky at the same time. I felt he should've been much more subdued, closer in attitude to the awesome Cumberbatch's Holmes in demeanour. Of course this is not necessarilly the sole fault of the actor, but it felt like a mistake. -
Quote:That can be true, but it's still entirely possible to win with a rookie Chaos team. You have to play very smart though, and a little lucky. And only throw those blocks you get the advantage for. The team's high ST (and pseudo-ST with Horns) works wonders in the early games. Oh, and Team Re-Rolls are invaluable. So now both of us have started new teams, he plays Skaven and I'm playing Chaos. Most guides for playing Chaos say one thing, you WILL lose your first 10-15 games while your guys level up.
Early success depends somewhat on your opposition. I've had the worst trouble with teams that are designed to fight and are better at it than Chaos out of the gate (Orcs or Dwarfs). Against Humans, Elves or Lizardmen, say, I just beat the unholy heck out of their goal scorers until they're eliminated from play.
I do love the lack of skills on the Chaos team, it's very telling of the race's character. I like to think of them as warriors and beastmen who approach the sport merely as another avenue for violence in the name of their dark god... Soldiers who basically put down their weapons just five minutes before walking onto the pitch. They have no training, they don't even know how to throw a legal block, because they have very little interest in actually playing the game. -
I'm in. This should be an interesting one.

I'd say it depends on the medium. A month is good for TV shows, but I'd give games and movies a lot longer. Games aren't always quick to finish and some people wait for DVD releases instead of going to the cinema.
Did your friend get annoyed because you mentioned a Batman villain by name, or quoted one of their lines or something? -
My internet has been out for the past week or so and I missed all this lovely voting.... (another vote for Firefly that would've resolved the tie).
Anyway, Prisoner gets my vote. -
1. Neon Genesis Evangelion
2. Cowboy Bebop
3. Dungeons & Dragons
4. Afro Samurai
5. Freaks and Geeks
6. Police Squad!
7. The Honeymooners
8. The Tick -
I'll abstain from this one, too many choices between shows I've never seen.

Leela: "I have to admit, I was afraid you wouldn't make it."
Fry: "Pssh, that was the old Fry. He's dead now." -
Quote:Oops, that was an unintentional snub. Fixed the title now.Great espisode. Few little niggles over certain things but the two leads are excellently cast and it was highly enjoyable
It's Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffats Sherlock though, both created and write for it. (I always like to give Mark Gatiss credit where-ever possible, even if he did create the iDaleks). -
The first episode was called "A Study in Pink". As you can probably guess from the title, it's loosely based on the first classic Holmes story "A Study in Scarlet".
-
Synopsis: It's Holmes, set in modern day. Fortunately, not as some time traveler in a strange land but a complete contemporary re-telling, much like Moffat's previous production of "Jekyll".
---
This aired on the BBC last weekend (and is still up on iPlayer, if you're a Brit and missed it). Overall, I really enjoyed it!
The casting of Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman) were both superb. They played off each other well and made a massively entertaining pair.
Sherlock's drug abuse is merely hinted at, though instead they choose to explore his obsessive and belligerent intellect as a form of sociopathy (something he himself admits to during the episode - he can't resist correcting a police officer who calls him a psychopath).
The relocation to modern day ended up a lot less jarring than I feared it would be. Watson is a former army doctor whose leg was wounded in Afghanistan. Holmes is a consultant to the police in the style of Monk or The Mentalist. For the most part it felt just like those shows too, albeit with a British cast and some very familiar characters.
This first episode was written by Moffat himself and the dialogue and pacing were typical of him, rapid-fire and funny. The presentation was slick, especially in the deduction scenes. The show's charisma and drama are such that the rather disappointing (and slightly predictable) mystery was quite forgivable. At least it wasn't as basic as the mystery in the recent Robert Downey Jr movie.
The weakest part of the tale (for me) was definitely Mark Gatiss' portrayal of exactly the same type of character he always seems to play. Not badly done at all, but a decidedly plain counterpart to the excellent Cumberbatch and Freeman.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next episode. -

1. Space: Above and Beyond
2. Crusade - Following up on its premise would've always been tricky, and sadly Flashforward kind of lost its way. Plus I'm such a ***** for B5.
3. The Prisoner
4. Eerie, Indiana
5. Misfits of Science - I only started watching Misfits thanks to this draft, but it's exactly the kind of show I would've loved to see when I was younger.
6. Threshold - I liked elements of Threshold, I wish I'd seen it while it was on TV.
7. The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr - Because Bruce.
8. Harsh Realm - Unlike a certain other Whedon show, Dollhouse got a fair chance and squandered it. Most of that first season was a waste of time. -
Aww, Ted just missed out.

Quote:It also reduces my chance in two other categories to nil. We could argue the pros and cons of it, but my point is that if I'd had this information prior to picking shows then I definitely would have acted differently in choosing them. How does having three choices in one group lessen your chances? Unless your lament is more about picking personal favorites vs picking something others would vote on. If anything you've got more of a chance in this category than anyone else.
As I said yesterday, I'm okay with whatever folks feel best for the rest of the draft. I just wanted to voice my concerns about this setup, I'm not going to pester.
