I've been busy w/ the holidays and whatnot, but I'd like to start back up Stalker Sundays: I'll be on tomorrow from 4pm EST, and we can run through the 4 SSAs or whatever people feel like.
-
If my lvl-ing strategy is to continuously fight over my head (my katana/regen brute has no business at +1/x6 at lvl18...), then I'll bind keys to convert everything to purples, then keep 3 of them on me at all times as I clear rooms. When I run out, I fight anyway, die, and buy a full tray again at the hospital. Then the process repeats itself!
-
I have to agree w/ GuyPerfect here: more and more often lately I've had to re-explain myself on Help channel, clarifying abbreviations. These may come easy to the "Legends" and "Cartels" of the forums, but new, curious forum viewers (F2Ps can view still, even if they can't post) may get lost, without the ability to ask for clarification.

Quote:The math seems right here: the disparity you think you see has to do w/ the difference between cumulative and discrete values. That is to say, your % of 0-4 is the probability of only that number of ticks happening, whereas the value for 5 ticks is the probability of "5 or more" ticks happening. You could show a better comparison by multiplying your 1-4 Tick values by 4 each, so you're showing a graph of "This many ticks *or more*", and you'll see that getting 5 ticks is least common.Edit: If correct, and if I did my math right, that would mean you have the following odds of each number of damage ticks.
0 Ticks: 25%
1 Ticks: 18.75%
2 Ticks: 14.25%
3 Ticks: 10.547%
4 Ticks: 7.910%
5 Ticks: 23.730%
It doesn't seem like that lines up with reported observations, since it makes five ticks the most likely outcome. -
Quote:This would be my point exactly:So what sort of trick, puzzle, and gimmick-free AV fights would you consider to be a "challenge"?
Without an answer to that question, it seems that your type are the ones being elitists. You're all judging the iTrials from on-high and finding them all wanting, without making any suggestions that would improve things or be superior "challenges" compared to what we currently have. If you don't like the iTrials then that's your prerogative, but to say you don't like them because of X, Y, or Z and then be mute as to what you think would make for better mechanics is just weak sauce.
The devs have said on occasion that we players always seem to trivialize challenges they make for us in a matter of months. We already had people soloing +4/x8, dual box-soloing ITF, and rushing the whole AV group at once in STF and LRSF, all before incarnates became available. Any standard challenge (like debuffs, damage, or mezzes) would be shrugged off by groups of 8, let alone groups of 24, so the devs can only resort to ridiculous challenges (Mark of Death, Sequestering, etc) -
But, no one can update your own posts except for you. If I want to put my MM build on this thread, I'd have to quote the desired AT, then add my own. The next person that would like to post a MM build would have to do the same. This thread's system works better than the general Build Workshop section, but still isn't very efficient for alot of people to work on this thread at the same time.
This will be way more work for you, but
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=122411
is a good metric to the level of detail (and work) that would make this thread (and forum section) convenient and efficient.

While we're asking questions, about the once/10 sec rule: is this once every 10 seconds once the power is on, or is it a universal 10s that has to do w/ the server?
In other words, if I toggle one damage aura, wait 5 seconds, then toggle another damage aura (each w/ damage procs, of course), will I have a chance to proc every 5 seconds, or does the server check every 10s, and if I'm using a damage aura, applies the chance to proc? -
I don't really see what the distinction between "hard", "gimmicky" and "cheating" is that everyone keeps talking about... examples to follow:
Hamidon: is Hami cheating because of high unresistible damage? or is it hard because of the -heal aura? are the mitos just gimmicks?
LRSF: fighting the FP in the future, while constantly phasing in and out of reality. in my book, that's definitely a case for all three.
STF: it has been mentioned in this thread that Recluse's towers are a good example of "hard, but not cheating or gimmicky". I don't really see the difference, however.
The list goes on, but as of now, I feel as though all of the "gimmicky, cheating, [but not?] hard" tricks in the iTrials are quite in line with the tricks of previous lvl50 content.
I'd even argue it's easier, since we now have floating text and cutscene dialogue [once you enable it] telling us how to beat the tricks now -
Depending on how classes are next semester, I may be game: What I roll will depend on what other alts I make until then
-
My Liberty MM is only lvl25 (though I could server transfer a lvl33 MM out of Freedom). Both are villains, but I may or may not join depending on how good I feel about my Japanese exam Tuesday evening at that time.
-
I'm in the middle of finals week, so I will not be able to join a session this week , but by this time next week I'll be home and literally have all day for whatever
-
I could almost solo doors on my Ninja/Storm MM, with the occasional escapee. Since I got a second set of Hurricanes w/ my T3 Storm Elemental, I've actually soloed a door while falling asleep at the keyboard.

Since we're all in a sharing mood, I decided to show you guys what I've come up with so far...

My main issue with this build is that I have no goals: I'm softcapped to everything, have no long-recharge powers that I need to build recharge for, and recovery's no issue, so I ended up w/ a build that's kinda all over the place. I'll probably make a second, more exemplar friendly build later, but for now Thunder Kick is unlsotted on purpose b/c I can run any 3 out of the 4 other attacks in a chain (EagleC,CraneK,CAxeK,CobraS). -
I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure NDA is in affect for all betas. Remember that F2P (or non players, for that matter) can see forum posts even though they can't post.

I dunno, guys... I've played around w/ TW for Tankers, and I feel a port to Stalkers, w/ all its KDs and AoE, will a little game-breaking.
I mean this in the sense that once it is ported, you will see nothing but TW/Nin (like some have already said in this very thread), kinda like what Elec/Shield did to Scrappers (to a lesser extent after the nerf/fix).
I dunno, we'll see... basically, as is, TW fixes everything wrong w/ Stalkers, as long as you stick to that powerset: we'll see what they do w/ the port -
Looked at your build, then started from scratch w/ my build goals and this is what I came up with.

Key differences between our builds:
1) I don't know how /elec handles it's endurance, but on any normal toon you'd run dry midway through any spawn w/ your build. I traded def for +end and +recovery
2) Traded Combat Jumping for Assault: lost ~2% def and 7.5% rech, but gained 10.5% dam, which is more useful to long term DPS
3) Traded def for +regen and +health: the idea was to use Energize to absorb alpha, instead of using it to regen at a reasonable rate in the first place.
...I'd play this toon like I do my /regen brute: I used the Kheldian keybind guide (w/ some changes) to map movement keys to making purple inspirations: w/ my build, you're 1 small purple from the softcap, w/ slightly more res (if you take out the PvP IO), regen, health, and recovery, and slightly less recharge (literally the only difference is CJ's LotG) than your build. I'd go w/ Nerve for defense, or Musculature for Damage.
Either way, either build would be viable, and both beat my nb/regen stalker's current build, and she breezes through +1/x5 (w/ iShift, though).
It simply seems as though you dislike res-based stalkers (though your build is way over soft cap as is)... maybe you should reroll if you can't wait until you spec out your current stalker. -
Good luck in your endeavor, BC
Blueside has more stuff going for it: you will most definitely need to turn off xp multiple times in the 20s: Striga Isles, Talos, IP, Croatoa, Faultline, and First Ward (if you count it as blueside) all have multiple story arcs in them for the 20s, as opposed to Sharks and FW redside.
When you say "solo all blueside" do you mean *all*, or "all story arcs", because alot of blueside contacts will send you on wild goose chases w/ no story arc progression, and some contacts even repeat missions.
I personally find these sorts of things easier w/ Stalkers: I almost solo'd all of redside w/ mine, and would've gotten it all if it weren't for ghostly hidden contacts and the fact that I went blueside lvl45. -
Doing Keyes' iTrial will get you the badge as well.
-
Successful run today: unlocked Midnighter's Squad for 3 of us or so, then did Croatoa arc missions w/ 4-6 of us. Most of us gained 1-2 levels in the 2.5 hour session.
Also, we (I) learned that 4 stacks of Assault (~40% +dam) allows for 1-hit AS on LTs w/o BU... and I haven't ED saturated AS w/ damage yet: the more I team w/ you guys the more I like this idea! -
I'll be on at 4pm EST as usual tomorrow, though I know a few people like to start at 2pm EST on Sundays.
-
AS is unresistable damage, right? We may even cut through Marauder's enraged state... then we'll see which AT is the laughing stock of Paragon City!
Edit: Checked in game... AS is unresistable only in PvP... even still, it should be fun times! -
1) what's the SSTF?
2) I'll be online starting at 12pm today until around 2:30pm during classes, fyi -
Eye Blink is lvl22.25, and is on the Rogue Tip 10/10: next time I log on (maybe later tonight), I'll get rogue and finish Darrin Wade's arc.
Just to be more clear: there are no level restrictions: as I said in the OP, I just think it'd be really cool to get a full (or as close as possible) team of stalkers together and wreck content: the grey "morality restriction" is just so that as many of us can team together at the same time.
Also, for those stalking (hehe) this thread, jump on the Stalkerlicious channel on Exhalted even if you're out of our lvl ranges, and see if anyone else is Stalking the server at the same time as you.
For everyone else (especially those Stalking over in Europe): feel free to announce when you plan on playing, even if it's not on Wednesday/Sunday: I check this forum before logging on, and I'd love to join. We now have more than 8 people on the channel, so there's no reason to limit this to only one Stalker superteam... -
-
I expected as much from placate as an offensive power: I mostly use it against single hard targets who are about to kill me, and against two kinda hard targets while leveling up (Placate 1, crit and kill 2, go to Hide, kill 1). Since I've gotten to lvl50 and run at x5 solo and doing iTrials, I rarely use it
