  1. What about thoughts on the stalker changes? I've never played an ea stalker before but I like the sound of disruption replacing repulse.

    I've said it a million times lately I really really hope they add a no fade option to energy cloak. Especially since my next energy aura toon I want to make is Titan melee. the whole point of using a giant sword is you can see it's awesomeness.

    My opinion on SR is that the reason the set is looked down upon is it does nothing unique other then an awesome backflip. SRs strength is if you're jus building for softcap it's cheap for brutes and scrappers to reach withou much of ios.

As much as i gripe about the current standing of Energy Aura its not bad...its just kinda so/so, the passive powers have always been pointless to me outside of a slot for a steadfast defense because the resistance it granted is so low. Even when soft-capped to all types save for psi which i'm at about 20% currently it's performance is very bi-polar, you're doing well and kicking *** then the next moment you're on the floor before you get the chance to heal yourself with energy drain.

    One of my suggestions to fix the set had always been to remove the +hp from overload and put it into one of the two passive powers to help out the set some by giving it a little more HP outside of its "You better make this count cause you're going down in 3 minutes time otherwise." The increased HP would make when you do end up catching an alpha through your defense a little easier to bounce back if you get tagged with a follow up hit or by another enemy.

    With the incoming changes i plan on building for recharge more then a soft capped defense and hope that energy drain will make up the difference of at most 5% (for negative energy) on my recharge centric build to hit at least standard soft cap. which i know isn't incarnate soft cap and having a real heal will be fun on the bun for me with the added benifit of the end redux.

    See I'm hoping they'll give us the option to chose whether or not we're invisible, similar to Dark Armor. I'd like to be able to see my toon. I have nothing against the stealth mechanic especially now since we have a taunt in Entropic Aura bu ti want to be able to see all of my costumes and my character attacking.

    Technically I think they are since its my understanding that they made Energy Aura becuase in beta Ice armor didn't work out for brutes, the slows at the time broke fury building so they made EA instead.
  7. I'm curious to see how everyone feels about the upcoming revamp and proliferation of Energy Aura? My first 50 was and still is a Super Strength Energy Aura brute that as time has gone by especially when i compare him to my Dark Melee Shield brute he feels so pathetic in terms of survival not really comparing DPS. Even when soft capped he still feels lack luster so i'm hoping the upcoming change will be what he's needed to feel uber to me. Having a straight heal with regen boost will be nice plus the recharge buff being added to the new Entropic Aura sounds sweet. on top of that the thought of rolling an Energy Aura stalker sounds nice becuase of the change of Repel to Disruption.

    So how about everyone else? Its kinda of sad for me to say that with despite all the awesome upcoming content to issue 21 this is the one thing i'm looking forward to the most.
  8. I'm curious with the upcoming revamp to Energy Aura has their been any word on if they'll be shortening the activation time on Energy Drain to make it closer match Energy Absorption since that's essentially what its becoming?

    One of the big drags for the power as it currently stands and soon to be previously was/is that the activation/cast time on it according to mids is 2.37 second before the endurance grant and heal kicks in In a combat situation particularly in trials you can be full life one moment and close to death the next before you activate it to try and heal yourself.

    So with it becoming a defense buff for it to make a quicker difference in combat I hope it'll be closer to if not at Energy Absorptions 1.33 (again going by mids info)

    Yah, i looked around in the editing option and sadly there is none, as you may have noticed in my attempts i changed the title of my opening post but the thread remains the same, so unless I repost it or a passing dev or mod happens to notice this post and does the dirty work for me its stuck.

  12. Since Energy Aura is being Revamped, and i know this has been requested several times already but i'm putting it out there again in hopes that maybe a dev will notice this post in time for I21. A lot of people myself included would love to see a no fade power customization option for Energy Cloak, much like Dark Armor has for Cloak of Darkness. Because of this power at times it feels pointless to have spent the time I do on a character's costume i can only see when i first log in, Die, or at the character select screen. Stalkers at least have the advantage of their stealth dropping in combat but EA you're just a mass of energy all the time just about.

    The reason why i'm asking/complaining about it is that I picked Seers for my Shield Brute figuring i could use the extra defensive over head since i was told they granted fort. I've now invested in to tier 3 (was able to craft 2 and 3 back to back so i had no time to try it out) and its completely useless to me and I've wasted crafting resources. It'd at least be worth something to me if it gave me positional defense.

One of my complaints (aside from the at best substandard nature of the defensive set) is that because of Energy Cloak I can't see my character in action, some might argue "Then don't take the power if it bothers you that much.". Problem with that is that it would cause a loss of about 6% defense that isn't easily made up, so my suggestion as the thread would already gives away, is to add a no fade option like dark armor has for Cloak of Darkness to Energy Cloak. This way players who have chosen Energy Aura if they want can appreciate the atheistic of their charcters design.

    Proc questions

    I had two questions about using procs in certain powers.
    1. Does the Achilles' Heel proc actually function when slotted in Sleet.
    2. Will any proc function in snow storm and if so does it continuously have a chance to proc or just on activation?

    Static cling is a pain, trying to get off a clingy piece of plastic by waving your arms sometimes is impossible XD. Thats sounds like pretty good kb resistance/protection to me.

  20. I'm happy to see the thoughts kicked around in this thread its really nice to see the various ideas and pros and cons to it. Upon going over this whole set I think something that would compliment the +regen function of energize would be helpful, i'm still in favor of combining grounded and static field since grounded has become more or less an IO mule for me when i'm trying to go for a mixed defense resistance set and it'd be nice to have an all in one mez protect power as i consider KB a type of mez.

    a new power would be nice in its place hell even if it was something along the lines of a HP boosting passive (Like High Pain Tolerance/True Grit) without the +Resistance part of it. A higher HP would mean you could stay standing a bit longer on top of making it so that the Heal in Energize would heal/regen more HP since its partially based on your max hp, this is all off the top of my head though since i don't know the numbers like a lot of the high end COHers do.

  22. Out of curiosity did the cottage rule come into effect before or after Fold Space?

    Because if they were observing it before they nuked Fold Space then there is a president of a complete power replacement in the main set if not oh well i tried.

    The only other thing i could think of wouldn't work since there are no dual purpose powers (Think of Champion Online's Celestial set, when attacking enemies it does damage when targeting NPCs or team members it heals) the thought on that would be splice it into overload so that if its used while alive you get the normal Unstoppable Clone, if used while dead it becomes the draining self rez and stays at tier 9 but again too powerful and it wouldn't happen. this thread is something i more or less through out because it was in my head and i was interested in the responses it might garner.
  23. I know people will argue against this suggestion and frankly I do too as well but it was an idea that just popped in my head.

    Remove Grounded and add all of its effects to Static Field all of the properties would work the same with it only granting KB protect when on the ground and it'll grant the same minor energy and negative energy resistance that grounded did on top of the Psionic resistance normally associated with the power.

    In the place of Grounded add a Tier 8 power thats the draining self rez that the super stunners have.

    I know this'll never happen since no set gets a Unstoppable clone and a self rez its one or the other but i wanted to throw this out and laugh at how terrible an idea it was.

    The only idea i'd have to balance this would make it so power surge doesn't grant as high a resistance bonus but that kinda kills the power so theres no real way to make this work and not make the set broken.

    A kinetic blast set would be nice too, though it wouldn't get through as suggested since unless it had a stupid high end cost the tier eight power is overpowered.

    no...not really, it will rarely save your life and if saves you it'll only be for a few seconds until you die.
