Sweeping through 8-man spawns solo can be a time consuming task for a scrapper. Malta Zeus Titans are slow work, even when you do have semi-decent single-target damage. Anyway, here's the run info:

It's very nice to have a Red Name commenting on this thread, though the treatment does leave one with a lack of resolve in light of the data that has accumulated over the course of this thread, especially when it comes to recipe drops. I'm going to make some more runs tonight and see if anything hasn't changed.

Shoot, as long as you have Borea as a contact, you've got access to as much Rikti-smashing-goodness as you could possibly hope for.

I did some more runs on my Kat/WP scrapper at 8/+0 difficulty level. I don't know how the numbers are changed due to my running with no bosses, but here are the results I got according to Archie's DropStats (Thanks for building this script, Archie, makes life so much more convenient!).
Type DropRate Drops Expected Mobs
--------------------------------------------------------
Pool A 1.77% 18 19-39 1016 minion equivalents
Salvage 7.05% 66 59-92 936 minion equivalents
--------------------------------------------------------
(Table excludes mobs of unknown rank and their drops.)
(1 in 20 runs will be outside the expected range.)
896 rewarding mobs defeated
96 bosses and elite bosses
138 lieutenants
452 minions
121 underlings (XP only)
89 rewarding mobs of unknown rank
Chief Mentalist (32) failed heuristic rank check
Guardian (57) failed heuristic rank check
39 pets and 56 greys
Salvage is certainly within the proper drop percentage, but the recipes are just a tad low, reinforcing the idea that something is a little off with the drop rates or how they're being awarded.
PS: Archie, I noticed you mentioned building DropStats to factor in fighting bosses at Lieutenant levels. I think the easiest way to do this might be to count everything not of minion rank as Lieuts and have a separate table showing the difference. -
Going back to the OP: This is an awesome story. I remember learning how to read, in part, via a computer game called Reader Rabbit. Anybody who says that computers and video games do nothing but rot the mind are sadly misinformed. Personally, I would never have thought of CoX as an educational tool, but apparently it can meet that need.
This is a quality story! -
Ah, good old PQ. I haven't fired it up for a while, but I'm severely thinking about it now.

Screenie Analysis:
Top hat: check
Monocle: check
Teabag emote: check
1 or 2 billion influence: check
Extra credit:
The screenie was taken in a casino instance with sweet fountains in the background.
Overall grade: Pure awesome! Congratulations! -
*swoons at the beauty of what was said by the OP* Wow....very enjoyable read!

It seems as if the publication of the City Scoop has been put on hold, or I just don't know that it was moved to another section of the forums. Does anybody know the status on this because I haven't seen any new editions published lately in the Announcement forum where it usually is.

Jot me down for 75 Mil and thus 7,500 tickets. Suddenly I don't know how small this spreadsheet will be, but I think this sounds like fun!
-
Amen...whether the OP caused the current marketear post going on in this forum or not, I am getting quite a bit of satisfaction out of it, even if my participation is only in the observation of somebody else's fun.

Entry request: Rejected
Reason(s): Lack of top hat, monocle, and /e teabag emote.
Please feel free to reapply at any time.
Reality: Congratulations on making the club. No doubt you've moved around more influence than this before now, but have finally had the liquidity for this post. I know that was my state during the development of my main. -
Quote:To be fair, you did say you needed to vent in your OP. To some, and I would include myself most of the time, vent = whine. You set up this thread with at least the thought in your head that people might not react favorably to it. Don't act surprised when they don't.See, this is why people sometimes are reluctant to post, because you automatically say someone is whining. regardless if you wait the prices are still jacked up. I know what a consignment store is. My point is at this current moment in CoH time, prices are seriously high. When you have 600 available items and 500 people bidding on it and the last 5 buys for spell ink is 100,000 inf....something is wrong.
The stupid thing about complaining about the high prices is that those who complain never stop to think about the opportunity that lies in those high prices. If you happen to come across some of those especially high priced items and can't or don't need to use them, I have no doubt that you squeal with glee at the opportunity of listing them. If you don't and you delete them or vendor them out of some misguided sense of spite, well then you're even more foolish than you were in the first place. -
How often are you revamping your toon? Personally, I start throwing in standard IOs around lvl 20...sure that's a little bit of back and forth in Steel, but it isn't that annoying. Then I just slot powers as the slots come so the time spent going back and forth is pretty minimal. Then there might be a little back and forth when I log in to move what I have bought to craft and then to actually craft and then sell them.
I suppose I've just never thought about it as much of an inconvenience to go back and forth and I usually stay in Kings Row and zone to my base to craft. I am more annoyed with the vast numbers of power spammers in Talos and Steel to spend much time in those consignment houses than I am with any back and forth-ing to craft and sell. -
I haven't been paying attention to CO since I canceled my preorder for it. If it isn't against the rules to say so, what happened over there?

I don't generally see myself as a farmer. I'm a scrapper and there's nothing I love more than going toe to toe with as many mobs (8-man team, on low difficulty)as possible and thrashing them to pieces. I have run several missions on the test server from Borea in the RWZ. I am absolutely loving how I am able to mow through those Rikti crowds in pure scrapper bliss all without the hassle of having to find fillers.
The most popular map for farmers prior to AE seemed to be the battle maiden map on blueside. I've heard a few references to some TV mission redside so figure that's where to be there. Personally, I can't say too much more than that. -
Quote:It highly depends on the map, but most AE farms seem to use the city one that's a giant rectangle and you just work your way around. I could get the map name later, as I don't know it off the top of my head. All of my missions are Lt runs set on difficulty level two. Invince bosses are fine if you're going for inf, but for tickets, I prefer higher numbers of fast kills. Now I am doing this solo. Are you guys using fillers to get these big hauls of tickets? I don't want to use fillers. Heck, I don't really want to farm, per se. I just haven't been able to figure out how some folks are hauling in "the ticket cap" in one mission.
Grinding bosses just sets my nerves on edge and makes me cringe when I see, "AE boss farm, lfm," in the broadcast window. I do generally enjoy playing with other people, but those boss farms are generally much too tedious for me.
Anyway, I've never paid attention to the specific numbers on how many tickets I am earning on each mission, but i know it's over 1K for each. The end of mission bonus is always between 550 and 600 tickets by itself. If you're interested in hard numbers, I think I'll have time tonight to run a hand full of missions and let you know the stats.
I've been making posts on how my Kat/WP scrapper has been doing with the new difficulty slider over in that other thread here on the market forums.
Just remember, the key to drops is to defeat as many enemies in as little time as possible. To do this, you want the difficulty setting lower, not higher. Until I16 is released, you're better off using difficulty level 2 or 4 to get more baddies. -
Quote:This line is a reference to the movie, Willie Wonk and the Chocolate Factory. In the film, Veruca Salt demands an Oompa Loompa be given to her by demanding, "I want an Oompa Loompa *now*!!!" in a very whinny tone. This exclamation is promptly followed by an irritated response, "Can it, you twit!" from Violent Boregard.EDIT: What the heck does the "Where's my oompa loompa?" tag on this mean??
The line highlights the spoiled demands of a girl who thinks the world must satisfy her every whim merely due to the fact that she exists. -
I ran some more missions today and remembered to get the mob breakdown. Here are my numbers:
Defeated Mobs: 684 (50 Bosses, 74 Lts, 452 Minons, 5 Portals, 103 Monkeys)
Enhancements dropped: 4
Inspirations dropped: 268
Vanguard Merits Acquired: 70
Recipes Dropped: 7 Total (4 set, 3 standard)
Salvage Dropped: 69 Total (47 Common, 17 Uncommon, 5 Rare)
Influence Earned: 3,313,481
Time Ellapsed: 1:35:31
Again, this was run solo on my Kat/WP scrapper, but I changed some of the settings. My difficulty was on 8,+0 with bosses enabled. Perhaps the fact that I got more set recipes than standard was due to the bosses, but it was two recipes less than I got last night. I don't know what to make of that.
Anyway, I'll keep running missions and posting my results as they accumulate. With the market as crazy as it is right now, it would be nice to know that we're at least getting drops on the schedule we're supposed to for running non-AE content.
Edit: If it isn't obvious, these were all RWZ missions from Borea. -
If only you'd been doing the /teabag emote, you'd be golden. Otherwise, pretty sweet and congrats on joining the club!
-
I should know better than to read the scrapper boards. It always leaves me wanting to start a new toon when I'm in the middle of working on two or three others. Gah!!!!!!
-
I know it's funny because I've had that very issue once or twice, I'm afraid. Even got defeated while still mashing it, stood back up for a moment before going right back to the ground. Oh that was a sad, sad day
-
I just finished running 4 missions on my Kat/WP scrapper; two of which were run from Borea in the RWZ and two from the Roman in Cimerora. The missions were run on the test server with a difficulty of -1 Level, 8-man spawns. I don't know the exact maps because I didn't think to look. Both Roman and both Rikti maps were the exact same though.
Defeated Mobs: 668
Enhancements Dropped: 6
Inspirations Dropped: 175
Vanguard Merits Acquired: 31
Recipes Dropped: 9 Total (4 set, 5 standard)
Salvage Dropped: 52 Total (40 Common, 10 Uncommon, 2 Rare)
Influence Earned: 2,116,393
Time Elapsed (H:M:S): 1:19:09
I know that the Vanguard Merits will be slightly skewed since they were only acquired in two of the four missions that I ran. I will run some more missions tomorrow in order to get a larger sampling.
This was my first run with the new difficulty system and I loved sweeping through those mobs like they were nothing. The Romans caused me to actually make Defensive Inspirations so they didn't debuff me into the ground, but I still never was defeated. I16 is awesome if for nothing besides the difficulty slider, IMO.
One final caveat for this post was how much influence (raw, not through drops) I earned just running on my own. I remember doing samples before while running solo and only earning ~400K inf/hour. It's nice to see that amount swing up to somewhere around 1.7M ifn/hour still running solo. I think it will probably mean more inflation in the market because, in essence, the player base is being expanded where farmers no longer need to team up with other players to generate their influence and drops. However, if those same farmers move from AE back to PI, it makes me wonder if we won't see some interesting shifts in the market probably back to somewhere similar to pre I14 as far as salvage and recipe costs are concerned.
