eh, actually against a high defense opponent, even one simply running rock armor from the troller patron or scorpion shield, you're gonna get enough dodges on a sonic (lolsmashing damage) to make it so that rad does more damage, as it will consistently hit through high defense. this remains constant unless you have a sick defense debuff like infridg+sleet. and even on a rad/rad i don't think RI will cut it by itself.
and then go ahead and factor in melees... rad rips through melee like nothing else, play no dr and it's just not fair. it will rip through good tanks EASILY. -
give it up spec. just give it up. your polar bear will thank you for the extra hubby time.
kb moar on live, and fight on live.. keep the petitions rolling, and the bug reports on dr resists, until they actually give us a "no obscene tanklike resists for squishies" button when doing "no dr". up until then, the ladder will continue to be a joke as compared to what it once was.
oh and the whole "only two of an at" rule is pure trash. you're all acting like fight clubbers "no insps" what's next spec? no travel powers? no sonic blasters? only one emp per team? you know what, if you can bring 5 stalkers and actually outkill a team with a storm and a pain mm, 1 emp and 2 sonic blasters, you definitely deserve to win (HEY HEY HEY OMG OMG IMPALE TAKES YOU OUT OF HIDE?), but go ahead, assume there's only one lineup... it's not like this is high end pvp, i mean, thinking is still outlawed. -

rad/storm is awesome in anything that involves team pvp on live.
i have a fully purpled out rad/storm, the only thing that gives me any trouble are specific blasters (psi, sonic), and well built trollers with -def debuffs (which keep my dps down by having me have to retoggle hurricane too often). -

don't take anything aoe but psw and water spout.
don't take anything from the primary except imps, the hold and the single target immob.
build for +dmg, +hp and +recharge in that order. -
he's talking about RV virtue (syn).
colds are pretty trash compared to a lot of other ATs in the a DR environment. the nerf in recharge from DR makes it so that heat loss is not up enough, and the toggles nerf makes it so that snow storm looses a lot of it's appeal.
also, corrs have it a lot nicer than defenders if you really want a cold.
3 things you NEED in pvp to be top tier.
1. perception
2. a way to regain hp in between kills.
3. a phase power (stupid i13).
a good defender build will only be able to fit in a perception or a phase power and will have to rely on greens mostly.
so overall... yeah, loldefenders. -

assault amounts to about 5% net damage once you factor in enhacements.
that's taking 5% hp off of your opponent.
i'll take that over taking maneuvers and getting 2% recharge because DR is nerfing my recharge. i'm running a 45%+ damage build with 1510 hp and 65% recharge on my fire/elec right now.. totally worth it.
ever since that respec, the only thing that gives me troubles in a non-res-capped environment are sonic blasters and good-ish psi blasters. -

in zones/duels/pug arena doms can do fine as offense and setting up

you will never see a dom on test until they buff doms, and they can perform as blasters or unless you're running an 8 man team and want a grav/energy to play cager and kb-er with DR on (So they can actually do some damage with total focus). -
grav is actually worth it with elec.
i've been destroying pretty much every single dom that i've fought with my grav/fire.
that includes the 2 others relatively skilled doms left in the game (sora?, ownage).
grav is also pretty sick in kickballs, as no one is willing to spent money getting mag 35+ kb protection on live. you just have to not be an idiot and not spam your hold.
so i'll go ahead and ammend mez's suggestion and say
(anything but plant or ice)/elec
