This is how I'm starting to lean as well; outside of just damage, it's got enough Stuns and KD to make it almost as good of a mitigatory set as EM. Then there's the whole FF proc slotting thing...
EM may still be balanced around the 'crit-on-mez' target philosophy... -
Isn't that... Sephiroth?

...and Howard the Duck kicked asp! (there was even a nude duck scene, lol)

I actually liked how the politics of the film was running parallel to US politics at the time. If the prequel was penned way back when; then Lucas' timing was deliberate.
Didn't care much for the acting.
The fight choreography in the prequels made the combatants in the original seem old, amateurish and lethargic (sans the Dooku/Skywalker close-ups in EP[2]).
The attention to detail was a dramatic improvement.
Jar Jar wasn't much more annoying than C3-PO (whiny brass wuss). -
Could we separate the Combat Aura section from the regular Aura section so that we can opt for more options in and out of combat?
(This would mean Aura suppression on whichever aura we wouldn't be using at a particular time)
Also, for Combat Aura options (only), could we add the body effects used in sets like Spines, Ice and Stone Armor; etc? -
Scirocco for FP membership!

I either go 2 Recharge; 2 damage IOs or (for soft cap Def building) a full set of Enfeebled Ops (builds recharge as well)... its cheaper than going with a set of Positron's Blast.

Recluse still has to deal with the Praetorian Invasion and the Coming Storm.
Wade may also get greedy; if this worked on Synapse, then Statesman... who is to say that it won't work on Recluse; especially now that he's an Incarnate... -
Quote:Where are people seeing this relationship? Did Magneto ever send the Brotherhood out to specifically attack Xavier? Recluse isn't rallying for Supers' rights in a world that fears them, he is actively trying to bring the world under his iron-fisted rule. He takes people and shoves them into those Tarantulas shells, turns them into Tarantula Mistresses, Arachnoids, forces them though training that forces them to psychically brainwash themselves into a hive mind. At least Magneto had the benefit of Humanity constantly proving his fears of them right.
What does any of this have to do with their personal relationship? In both instances; it seems to be a case of friends turned enemies (or even ,*ugh*, 'frenemies'. And Statesman's recollection of Recluse seems to be on par with how Xavier would view Magneto if put into the same shoes.
Along those lines, Recluse would more than likely harbor some semblance of respect from his one-time friend and greatest adversary... but would ultimately continue forward on whatever path he has left to travel -
They seem to have a Professor X/Magneto relationship with each other (movie canon) and I kind of picture the reaction being something similar to when Jean disintegrated Charles.

Congrats!

Glad to see that they might have a new 4-legged rig for combat pets/NPCs (now for some strays to go along with the pedestrians)
Glad to see solo-able Incarnate content.
I like the level new 15+ Trial. It compliments the DFB and seems like a set up for more mid to late level trials prior to accessing the iTrials.
I like that more zones are starting to see some co-op action; now if we could get the Hazard Zones (and eventually all of CoX) to be accessible by both sides (w/o playing the alignment shuffle), it would help some of the population imbalance between factions.
STARSHIP TROOPERS!
Dark Controllers seem promising. -

Quote:Solo is great, small teams and even larger low level teams are also good. Even larger teams not made primarily of damage dealers is decent play time for /Elec's core ability. It gradually loses effectiveness as the team damage output goes up.My secondary is /elec. Plants has seeds, earth stalagmites and earthquake, ice ice slick, grav has wormhole, and fire has flashfire. All of those mezzes are full group mezzes that can happen at the beginning of a fight and are instant. Elec/'s confuse takes so long to jump and stops if they separate (which is another reason I took the aoe immob). Solo is perfectly fine though. I generally do confuse->sleep->immob->kd, but they still aren't sufficiently mezzed.
You might end up having to use strats similar to those used by teamed Corr /Trappers (when applicable) - corner pulling, patch setting, etc (although with more and more Incarnates showing up on teams - the utility of either does take a hit)
Also, take advantage of Synaptic's 'no-aggro' tagging and range; I don't think any of the other sets have a potential AoE Confuse (or 'Smoke') snipe on their hands. -
Quote:I don't get heavy team play out of my Elec/Earth Dom but she does fairly well when she is on them. Earth mitigates well but others may not; that's why I'm asking about his/her secondary. If you're relying on those powers when you're teaming Yogi, I don't know what Seeds of Confusion has to say to you, but I bet it's not pretty.
The weirdest thing I noticed in Elec/ is that the sleep aggros, but the confuse doesn't.
And I can only speak for mid 20s level teaming... some teams kill fast enough to moot sapping; some don't. -
Quote:There shouldn't be much of a core control difference between Elec/ and the other control sets:I don't think I've heard one negative thing said about elec/, maybe I'm doing it wrong. I tend to die a lot on teams, more than any other dom I've made. The controls work so slowly (*glares at Synaptic Overload*) or softly (static field) in comparison to any other set. I use the kd a lot though (more than the ST hold), but I swear something I'm using (the AoE immob?) is an aggro magnet. The reason I use jolting chain and the aoe immob in the first place is due to their recovery stopping/end sapping ability which works as a ghetto hold. Generally attacks have a small chance for -recov., but not those AoE attacks:
Attack End drain Chance* Duration
Charged Brawl -7% 20% 2s
Jolting Chain -10% 50% 8s
Chain Fences -17% 40% 6s
*chance for -recov not end drain
Those two seem to be the only way to control the mob using endurance drain.
1 ST Immob
1 ST Hold
1 AoE Immob
1 AoE Hold
What's your secondary? -
For my Dom, I'd go /Elec:
I almost always take VS... it isn't great but after casting, it's an END free set of attacks that keeps attacking even if you're mezzed and it helps with sapping
Between Static Field and Synaptic Overload... you have time to Zapp (if that's your preference)
Conductive drains pretty fast but Chain Fences does just as much per application (nice, low level combo)
Plus /Elec is a sync set - plays into your primary's strength. -
I'm experimenting with an Elec/Fire at the moment...
Electric gives you +4 AoE attacks (2 more than most sets):
Jacobs Ladder
Thunder Strike
Chain Induction
Lightning Rod
LR and TS can help with damage mitigation (KD) plus LR is a nice way to get in before (and possibly negating) a good chunk of a mob's Alpha (as well as giving an assist to keeping mobs in a Burn patch just a tad bit longer)
I'm considering Soul Mastery for added survivability or Leviathan for the 3 cones (providing an immob (for Burn, Consume, etc), resis debuff and additional KD) -
Brought here by your link from another thread. Awesome and thanks!

Quote:Personally, I'm glad you're at least consistent in your view that the sticks and stones thing should go both ways; NPC or PC. And to an extent, I agree with what you're saying; in terms of simple logic.TMNT isn't what I would call a superhero universe, no. Urban fantasy at best.
Neither Robin nor Batgirl routinely fight with sticks (they just punch and kick a lot). Nice try though.
And the distinction between truly super-powered heroes and heroes with superior skills within the bounds of normal human limits is important if you want to make any sense out of scenarios where characters are fighting giant robots and cosmic entities like Galactus or Thanos. To say that every character in the DC or Marvel universe is a superhero is a semantic oversimplification that, while true on a superficial level, doesn't help address the essential problem of verisimilitude in situations like the iTrials (TPN and the rock-throwing citizens in particular) where we are expected to accept the absurd notion that normal (but skilled) dudes with sticks can (or should) do diddly squat against huge assault mechs with reinforced titanium armor plating and/or force fields.
But the fact remains that the genre in general and CoX specifically is an accumulation of illogical pieces slapped together to create an illogical world and has been from day one. For anyone to be calling foul, at this point, is suspect at best (unless they've been complaining of the illogicality of it all since day one; then I would have to wonder why the heyhey they're still playing).
Selective suspension of disbelief. -
Quote:Becoming an Incarnate is aking to learning a whole different skill set. Not everybody glides in and out of variable power usage like X-Men's Rogue.I missed this. To me, the very concept of a "wet-behind-the-ears Incarnate" is a conundrum. That's like saying a rookie martial arts master or an inexperienced veteran. Incarnates should not be seen as "wet-behind-the-ears" because we got to be Incarnates by proving our worth. Dropping us back down to rookie status is a severe demotion which represents a massive step back immediately following level 50.
It's like Colossus waking up one day and getting Nightcrawler's TP powers and acrobatic skills; then being confronted by obstacles that require him to use those new abilities. If we were being any kind of realistic; he would need to learn to use those abilities before they become an effective part of his total skill set... he doesn't automatically become Nightcrawler.
It would be like [that kid up the street that's done some minor narcos for ten years] suddenly getting a face full of illegal dusts and then trying to successfully navigate the local shopping center without attracting attention. Or [Miss Tae Bo instructor] getting pumped up with synthetic steroids and adrenaline then getting let loose at the neighborhood gym; sure, maybe [she has] the strength to lift everything there... but that just makes [her] strong; not a pro weightlifter.
Or your 'martial arts master learning a new discipline; yes, he becomes a noob again.
So what, you got new powers... but you're not a full Incarnate yet... you're still a neophyte; an acolyte... you'll be an intern at the Offices of Incarnate and Sons until you hit Omega.
There might even be a trope for Supers automatically knowing how to use every facet of their powers as soon as they are bestowed upon them (or immediately thereafter)... if not, there should be. There are exceptions, of course.
