I was going to counter this with another set, but to be honest I'm not really sure I can disagree from my own play style, which admittedly, isn't everybody's. I have tried playing an Emp numerous times and at this point the only one I could stand to play was an Ill/emp who is stuck at 37 and hasn't been logged in 500+ days. Emp, as a set, to me fails higher up. Pretty much any other support set would feel more worthwhile. Again, IMO.
I logged on a character that was boosted by the AoE buff and I have to say it is rather fantastic. I really need to dust off some Kins and play them. -
Welcome back Enantiodromos.

Once I hit the cap I just started to e-mail it to alts. I think I've passed on something like 4 billion at this point.
Gratz to the OP though. I remember when having something like 100 million seemed mind boggling to me. I don't think I looked at the guides until I actually hit 1 billion. I know the number of posts I had here could of been counted on one hand at that time. I just looked at recipe cost and crafted cost and went to town on those. It was funny to poke in once every maybe year and then see talk of the Devastation Quad during the time that was my favorite to abuse. It's even in one of the guides that talks about the oddity in terms of it's pricing back then. -
After a recent changing of what IOs I was targeting, I think I figured out I could get one character to mass 1 billion in a week. I haven't officially tried it, but I went from about 900ish million to about double that in a rather short time frame and it's what sparked the idea. This would be 100% via market, so no drops, tickets, etc...

Is it really that hard to figure out why people who solo want the social environment as well? Again, are you buying me an XBox? You going to buy me those games I'm going to like to play even though there is no XBox counterpart to CoH, and XBox titles "tend" to be FPS games, which I can't stand? Really, I have way more single player games than I likely ever play. Thank you Steam sales. Let's say I play on one of the smaller servers that at one point it took me about an hour during prime playing time to get on a ITF when it was the WTF. Now, how easy do you think it's going to be able to do that if someone logs on during odd hours? I've had shifts that made me grateful I got on even four person teams. Trials? (laughs)

I don't feel like editing my post over and over again. It's 150 Vanguard merits for a Gr'ai Matter, which is a common. Oddly enough you could make it via 4 shards as well and my guess is you'll get the shards before the merits.
-
Quote:200 Merits for the LotG: def/+recharge, or 2 A-meritsBases off of Bills’ trade in idea
Let the different types or merits be able to be traded for Incarnate Components.
Vanguard Merits: 500 per Common Component
A couple of Mothership raids and you could easily get a T1.
Reward Merits: 120 per Uncommon Component.
I chose 120 as I seem to recall a LotG + recharge being about that. So a few days of Weekly Strike forces and you could get enough Uncommon Components
Hero/Villain Merits: 5 or 10 per Rare
Between 10 to 20 days of 0x1 Tip missions yielding a chosen Rare seems reasonable to me.
Now, what does this do for the Solo minded person? Does it give a path to the Incarnates that does not seem to far out of whack?
If you did a combo of trials and WTF, and solo, you would have an easier time all around.
Very Rare Components, Astral Merits and Empyrean Merits would be “gated”, but that seems a fair trade off, for the ability to have choice in how and what a player could do to get most of the Incarnate powers.
How is this for an idea?
EDIT: 500 Vanguard does seem as little high for soloist to get a common, but the idea is right. -
Quote:Fixed. And honestly if you are teaming all the time what in the heck do you really need incarnate powers for anyhow?
Quote:The simple answer has been in front of your faces the whole time, if you don't like to team I have one word for you "X-BOX"
So, instead of coming in here and offering help to make a valid test of the drops you instead decided to come in and defecate on Bill's thread? Gotcha. -
Quote:It should unless I missed something. I actually saw people recruiting for an Apex TF and they said they only wanted people who had their alpha slotted. I find it one of the more odd mechanics in the game. Unlock your alpha and do iTrials until sick of them with no penalty, but do Apex, or Tin Mage without your alpha slotted and well, you get to be -4 for those. Not that I do a lot of the Incarnate stuff anyway, but I have yet to do a Tin Mage TF and I don't recall seeing one being formed since I started to do the iTrials. That said, I find those completion bonuses pretty dang pathetic for content that punishes you if you don't have the alpha incarnate ability slotted. (Or do they still do that?)
EDIT: Clarifying here, I understand you can do the iTrials without even unlocking your alpha, which makes the Tin Mage and Apex TFs all the more odd. What I meant was there is not a penalty while doing the arc to unlock your alpha for obvious reasons. -

Quote:I think you could set them up like TFs with challenge settings and the harder settings would offer the chance of a VR/R drop. This way a player is putting in a certain amount of effort and skill into it.No, but 4-6 threads I would agree with, but a random component at the end of the arc? Yes, if you can only get a common or uncommon, removing rares and very rares from that random drop I would agree with.
The time it would take to complete 4 mission to get the rewards you are asking for would totally be faster and easier than running a trial and it would defeat the purpose of a trial to being with. -
Quote:Let's say in the same amount of time you could knock out the missions you needed for an A-merit. This would mean 6 shards are roughly equal to an A-merit. I'm curious to know how intended that is and all the more so considering you soloed at x8. You could easily get a 2:1 ratio, if that, of shards to A-merits if soloing on x1.Shards: Start time 9pm - 8 shards in inventory
PI for scanner missions. +0/x8 w/ bosses
Mission: Shards dropped
1: 0
2: 3
3: 1
4: 1
5: 0
6: 1
7: 0
Farmed RWZ for Rikti bosses for 20 minutes: 0
Total time: 2 hours.
Shard drop rate: 3 per hour.
THREE PER HOUR. Let's keep that in mind.
I also think it's a crock you have to do repeated trials just to unlock the first non-alpha slots, but that's a separate ramble. -
Quote:My guess cost will be cheap enough to open it up. Once a player knows the focus of the game in on Incarnate content, they will want to be there. This at least shouldn't be an issue once Freedom is live. For one all the new blood will be starting at level 1 and needing teams. Add to that the Freebers can't even participate in Incarnate content without subbing and it should provide plenty of players running arcs and whatnot.
*crosses fingers* -
My problem with all of the Incarnate stuff is it will continue to leave people playing their level 50s which in turn makes it hard for characters not level 50 to get onto teams. It's bad enough now and will only get worse as more trials are added. The more trials get added, the more desire I have just to get PLed to 50 and go where the people are at.

Quote:I didn't realize cost was a factor and you never gave the hint it was based on what you could afford. I'll just shake my head at the idea of a IOed out /dark brute being too easily slaughtered. A 55% damage bonus means things die faster. Since things die faster, you have to deal with less incoming damage, which in turn makes you more durable.Sure that build is nice but it costs about 8 bil more than my character and is far out of my reach.
I guess it all depends on perspective, I have just finished rerolling my Dark Brute into a Tank because he was too easily slaughtered, considering he was 25% more resilient than your shield Brute, I expect that Brute is even more likely to be lying on the floor.
A 55% damage bonus means nothing to a corpse. -
Quote:The recharge times on the buffs sets that got buffed were made so they could buff the whole team from day 1. The recharge on something like Fort meant it was never designed to be on the whole team in the first place.I think you understand this post perfectly. As a player that has spent a great deal of my time playing ; Empathy, Kinetics, Dark, Rad and FF, When I read this "QOL" improvement for "buffers", the Kinetics/FF in me said WoW ! Cool !, but the Empath in me said ; "Hey ! I am a buffer too!"

Deleting the rest to make a smaller post. I'll just add that I have noticed a lesser number of support characters doing the trials compared to what happens on team outside of the trials. Controllers and doms are even lesser played on BAFs for one obvious reason(escapee phase). I've only felt the desire to really use my Kat/sr scrapper for the trials. All of my other 50s outside of my Claws/regen are support.

So you mean they have a chance to finally be good then?

Quote:All I'm going to say is this comes across as somebody who is rather ignorant on how much the base building community has tried for improvements only to get treated like some sort of red headed stepchild. There has been one notable attempt by the devs to deal with bases only for it to be so messed up it never even hit beta. That's it and bases have been around since CoV hit. "Base changes are quite likely in the future." You mean before it's been 20 issues since bases were first introduced?Base changes are quite likely in the future - it's another potential cash stream, with a huge range of cosmetic items that could be made and sold.
With the devs limiting "pay to win" features, PvP is a much smaller potential cash stream.
With the Paragon Market emphasizing cosmetic rather than practical items, player housing is always going to have a higher priority than PvP for developer attention. -
Quote:Part of me is thinking it's the devs way of giving a middle finger to the player base that made their AE the abomination that it is. "So, you guys like farming your way 1-50 past all of this content we made for you huh? Boy, do we have something for you." If the Incarnate system had a Facebook page, I'm still waiting to click on the "Like" button.Considering I just ran a BAF (first trial in two and a half weeks) and earned 4% towards Judgment, it definitely depresses me. "Only" 24 more speed runs before I can start working on Lore.
I agree, I'd rather farm solo (and I'm not much of a farmer). At least there would be no 30 minute waits between missions.
