You have obviously been away a VERY long time.
The servers themselves have been upgraded at least twice, and that means what you might think of "green light" meaning "no one on", means "light load". It only takes a dozen people to work up a medium load if you do it right, letting off the right powers and such. So, ignore the red-yellow-green and go find a server you like playing on.
There's no need to go over 50 just because another game does.
Incarnates upcoming at some point in the future will have gains over normal 50s but *will not be over level 50*. Getting to 50 is not the point of the game, remember... the path TO fifty is, and beyond.
Don't forget that you DO NOT NEED A TEAM to play about 90% of the content in this game. Very rarely do you REQUIRE a team, and unless all you want to do is run task forces, you can take your time and enjoy the great CONTENT we've been given at your own pace.
We don't compare and contrast with other games, because in general that just leads to flame wars, not civil debates. -

Well, ... yeah, but we've already GOT sets with perfectly good elemental-style armors and defenses. And, most people want to design their character around the costume looking cool, not to be covered up or replaced by the powersets. That's why a lot of the ice powers and stone things have been tuned down a little over time.

Quote:Would you please stop trying to re-write the game code to suit your ridiculous assertions?I know that, yes, the origin does not need to define all their powers, but that does not mean that one can not still want something to be added that is lacking, a proper transportation power for a normal human other than the ninja run.
Memphis_Bill and others, I feel that I can only agree with 2 comments here.
1. The origin description is worded like it is referring to humans by the way it refers to non humans as a secondary thought later in the description, but if you must nitpick go ahead. I don't see aliens throwing knives commonly in sci-fi themes, and seems more like a human thing to do.
2. Fitting a motorcycle to a huge type could be a bit more complicated, and I did over look that.
This might be able to be over come but I don't know the work for this. However. withstanding this there is nothing else I can see restricting a motorcycle:
We have powers that give you costume like effects with animations even! You can say what ever you want, this is true.
We have powers that are customizable.
We have powers that adjust your pose.
All of this with the exclusion of needing to adjust to the huge model has been done by having an auto adjustment to the size of the motorcycle to the size and leg length of the model.
We do not have "powers that adjust your pose" - those are called ANIMATIONS and they're BUILT INTO THE POWERS.
You clearly weren't here the last 5 years, *you know, before we had customizable / colorized powers* at all?
"An auto adjustment"... meaning what, exactly, with your extensive knowledge of this game's code? It's not maya, let me tell you that.
It's JUST YOU. You won't simply understand what I've said before:
Your character might have a natural origin but that doesn't mean he must be a LUDDITE.
I hope that he's not using guns! Because *those are not natural*, they are GADGETS. They're TECHNOLOGY.
I hope he doesn't have a shield, once more, those are *tech* items.
What about mutants? I mean, THEY can't use a magic wan.... oh wait, the LOST CURING WAND! Everyone in the game gets that, at one point, oooh - it's magic! Will you refuse its use?
Jetpacks are more common in Paragon City than cars. There are no busses. There are in fact, no motorcycles. Why? Because since the Rikti war, we've been REPURPOSING Rikti technology in order to better suit the era. Teleporters are incredibly common. Every hospital has dozens of them. Heck - the Zig must have an insane number of them what with the way heroes place a teleporter-signal on their defeated forms (an ingame definition of why they vanish).
Goodness sake, Wentworth's has their own teleporter!
So... you might want to save your sanity and use your imagination to think they're getting in their mad cow mobile, between zones.
Because there are no gas stations here either. -
Oh definitely, of launches on issues, this one is awesome and sedate.
If your computer is laggy, *turn down the settings*. If that doesn't help, *get new drivers*. If that doesn't help, *check your net speed*. If that hasn't done anything, *improve your ram/video card*...
Seriously people - the few have issues, and even out of those, "unplayable" is in the eye of the beholder. I'm getting 6 to 15 FPS typically, and that's playable. I know some folks start to pitch a hissy fit when their rate goes under 50. If you need more performance, you MUST start to sacrifice the graphics and other stuff - do so.
Other bugs, well, they're working on the main one, which doesn't affect a LOT of people, myself included, most folks didn't even KNOW there was a problem. They're more concerned with WW being down, than any disaster that might have awaited them there.
So... No. We're not shafted. This is a very smooth issue release. I've seen PLENTY of them. Seriously. -
Quote:A costume effect does NOT equal a POWER animation.
1. We have interchangeable power animations/effects now. (Spikes)
2. We have transportation power effects that have costume like effects. (Various Jet Packs)
3. We have costume pieces that have animations. (Tails)
4. We have different stances for running and standing possible by new powers. (ninja run)
5. We have costume pieces that stick out from the body, a lot. (Wings, Tails, Enforcer set items)
So being able to make a costume like thing pop out and change your pose to replace the normal super run ability seems very reasonable. In fact, after reading the questions from Friday, I think the vehicle question got skillfully dodged to leave vehicles that you do not "get into", like the motorcycle, to be VERY possible. So much so, that as of now, I am just waiting for motorcycles to come out as I am sure it will probably be here by the end of the year.
Seriously. No. The only "transformation" animation we have is for the Kheldians and the Werewolves, and that's *all*.
Plus: what about customization? Oh noes - we all get the SAME motorcycle? The SAME car? one of the primary reasons the devs will NOT put vehicles in the game, stated repeatedly, is they do not want the game to become City of Jetbikes.
If you want a car, or a bike, buy a car or a bike game.
If you REALLY NEED your natural character to have a "natural" travel power, then DO NOT TAKE A TRAVEL POWER. What's hard about that?
I have a character, magic-origin but only because he's got a backstory for it. He is a TURTLE.
He has no travel power, but I did put ninja run on him. He's a magical upright turtle with a gemstone shield and rock powers... But no travel. Everyone else in that group gets wings... guess who won't be getting them?
It's not up to the game to determine what YOU want to do with YOUR character, except that the game will ONLY give you certain options - period. You can justify darn near anything for pretty much every Origin in this game, no one single definition actually works for everyone, and never has. This is an old, old argument.
One that the devs have put down, and if they ever do come out with a viable vehicle system, I seriously doubt that it'll be within the next 5 or 6 issues worth of content. They just don't want to have a game where people are driving/riding things. We're superheroes. We CAN fly and we CAN leap... just do that, write it off as a gadget. -
Trenchcoat love would be very nice. Right now there's one version: leather, and you can't even decorate it. So... yeah, I'm all for something better than what we've had all this time.
-
You might want to speak with Ocho about that, there might be something he can do to help or point you in the right direction.
-
I haven't had any game-breaking bugs happen to me at all. Visually yeah, it's a little annoying for the vet powers going off, and I guess there's an issue with the auction items... Neither of those things bother me in the slightest.
Plus, remember that there are things which won't come out during regular beta play. The sheer volume of players on live is bound to stir up things that didn't get touched on for whatever reason during the beta. Both closed and open betas are never, ever going to do what is needed to expose EVERY bug, and certainly there have always been bugs which just didn't exist (or seem to) during beta, which came out during live.
Give em a couple days, people. They know. This is not an OMG IT MUST GO BACK! situation. -
If you have a Yahoo.com email address, you won't be getting their emails anyway.

Quote:Well, if it was the real Gman, I'd love this game twice as muchSPOILERS TURN BACK NOW!!
I recently completed the new story arc and at the end got another letter from our mysterious "man behind the scenes" and the first thought that came to mind was the G-Man from Half Life 2. The cryptic messages, the hints, the whole thing that G-Man has got to be him or this game version of him.
Would it be weird if we had our own G-Man?
I have yet to get into the arc more fully, so I haven't found the letter yet, but I've been hearing tell. It's all a Nemesis plot, of course, but hey, it's a good one -
Quote:I've had the same issue, it's just a video card thing, if you rig isn't stupendous, this is how it normally renders. It IS weird seeing guys with huge triangles for arms, and no top to their head...From a distance, enemies and other characters look very strange. Like they are not completely "filled in" and are deformed in ways that look odd. Then when I get in closer, they sort of fill back up and look the way they are supposed to. This is not related to I17, it has been a problem for a while now. I play on my laptop, and have had to make many changes such as entering /cursorcache 1 to stop the screen flickering, changing the cursor to compatible to make it stop disappearing, etc. I am wondering if there are any solutions like these to fix the problem I am having now?
-
Hehe I didn't think of taking any of the groups that wound up in the Hospital all at once. Would have been an interesting way to see who dies a lot
-
Awesome work then.
Now, if only we could tie our FEET to the footfall sounds instead of the GROUND ... -
Quote:They've been doing this almost 2 years now. Wedding pack, etc. It's bonus stuff that does *not* impact the play of the game itself, but if you want it it's there. It's also extremely inexpensive. So... *shrug*Mutant pack comes out soon apparently but thats a paid pack, there doing exactly what i feared and moving away from free content to more paid stuff :/
They are a company after all, it was to be expected eventually but still sucks.
I'm happy with the tails being off the Belt area! -
The little things, actually. I haven't been on for months so I haven't had the chance to even get to know what's IN the issue, until it went live today.
But what has impressed me a lot are the NPCs walking around, with their bags of groceries and coughing and crinkly bags... The sounds - cars beeping, with engines... It seems more ambient than ever, and particularly combine that with the shadows and such? It makes for a far more realistic experience.
I haven't even started on new stuff, like contacts and the apparently-awesome story arcs, and the new Posi, and the badges. Heck I'm still so far behind on powersets and toons, I haven't even leveled my PLANT troller to 50 yet... -
It already was on DA, but it belongs to my friend Muzzow who removed her half life stuff because she was sick of seeing it :/ I just don't understand how this forum won't allow the url to be *unlocked* as an url? weird.
Ah well. BARNEY is hot hehe. Gordon is also hot. You do the math. -
I was more thinking..http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3..._by_Muzzow.jpg. BARNEY the one and only CALHOUN it's not safe for work and I don't really have a way of two-clicking, and it won't let me unformat the link! :/

My favorite memory has to be actually outside the game: pre-HeroCon, the first year I went up to San Jose and got to meet and greet with you devs. To have such a family-feel of people, a marvelous bunch of folks that I trust implicitly to do what's best for their game.
Also, talking with the Big Guy Clayton at San Diego at the wonderful party that was thrown there.
It makes me cringe any time some newcomer or old bitter player comes along and complains that the devs "aren't doing enough" - they're doing it all right, and they're doing it far and away better than pretty much every other dev team in the MMO industry. (And I say that knowing that several of my friends work for Blizzard and others.)
In the game... Well there's this story I have.
I am on Retail Retali8r, my emp/dark defender. On a mostly pickup group doing some AV's, and we were working on the outdoor Mother Mayhem mission. We're going along pretty well, we find the AV and bunch up around a corner. I assert that I can pull nicely, with Moonbeam. Okay, so we do that once or twice, works like a charm.
And then as I'm going to snipe and pull another, I hit AUTORUN and run directly into the main mob! Everyone appears to misunderstand my lack of typing (and presumably the wwwwwwaaaaaaanooo no no no aaaaieee! after) and jumps in. We faceplant, but still, it was the most hilarious oops moment - we did eventually get our AV, after a bit of collecting ourselves.
That, and any of Badge's Robot Rampage events. They're freaking sweet. -
Must.... resist... making... Barney...

My reg date is the same as my online arrival, I came in during the end of the Rularuu invasion which was STUPENDOUS.
Played daily for over 5 years, took that recent unintended break, hope to stay back for ever and ever. -

I crashed once, and then didn't manage to get back on MI's team, but that was okay since it was already about 2/3 of the way through. I had a blast - I have a post up somewhere with some screenies. Got my gold title, said hi to the slopes in the Chalet - and got my very best time EVER on them, on my first and only run... o.o Seriously what's up with that lol. Maybe it's the ninja run! More control but not too much to send you zooming around like IR does.
Had a blast. Love these events, though I do wish we'd gotten titans or kronoses and such. Or a nemi horse.
