No it doesn't! You shut up! It's fine just the way it is, you ungrateful HEATHEN!

If it keeps the fluff out of all the other threads, I'm all for it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That would require most of the fluff posters to A) be on Virtue, B) get along, and C) agree to consolidate it all into once place.

    Statistically unlikely.

Honestly? I'd say /Dark, for the debuffing potential. Near-capped resistance/defense, amplified by more -Res, -Damage (on mobs), and -Hit (again, on mobs), plus an additional pet for crowd control should be more then enough to make the group sufficiently overpowered.

Barring that, Poison or Traps for much the same reason may not be bad choices. More the former then the latter, as the latter also comes with redundant defense.

EDIT: Forgot Trick Arrow in that assessment, and to a lesser extent, Storm.

Problem is that the Resistance cap for MMs/Corrupters is about ~75%, but otherwise I don't see an issue with the numbers.

A centralized place to get it all out and have fun doing it? Sounds like a plan to me... and at least it's not as ridiculous as some of the other pointless threads on these boards (City Life seems to be a magnet for it lately).

You could also, depending on level, go hunt temporary powers to help out a bit.

I do believe the Cryonite Armor is flashbackable... I'll dig up a list.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I try not to do that, seems like cheating to me. Some AVs seem easier than others depending on the AT. This one seems particularly deadly to my MM

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh. I know how you feel, there. I generally try to avoid 'farming' for certain temps, but I have no qualms using ones that I already have at the moment. >.>

I still have my first Cryonite on my Bot/Storm, the Spirit Potion, Frenzy Mutagen..

I really should use this stuff more often then I do.

EDIT I was wrong. It looks like, instead, it's a Raid temp power from Mayhems instead, which is another decent way to get some additional firepower.

should have rushed him in body gaurd mode. the damage gets spread out and your survival rate is much higher. also make sure you take a full tray of inspirations, preferabaly purp's and reds and greens. if you did do this then i'm not sure what else you can do but some others might have some good ideas.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I only use bodyguard mode, thats how I fight. I only have 715 hitpoints. Two hits of 400 makes me a goner.

    [/ QUOTE ]

actually if your in body gaurd mode 2 hits of 400 won't kill you. the damage gets spread out between you and your pets. adn if you eat purp's, he will barely touch you. what you can also do is lv 1-2 more times then before training up to those lv's go back and beat him. that way you wont have to waste the respec you get for getting your patron powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, in BG mode... if your damage-tick is 400/shot, then it's likely a similar amount of damage (barring resistance) to all of your bots, as well. At least, that's been my observation - the damage ticks per shot get distributed to every bot in range regardless. I often play zoomed back enough to catch it.

I don't think I've ever been hit that hard, though, except on AoEs that pretty well ruined my bots in the first place.

My only recommendation is doing what you can to stock up on purples, and seeing if he's the only thing in range to actually hit you. It sounds like he may have had some helpers that weren't immediately visible.

so get the storm secondary and slot em in tornado...

No, not being able to slot 2x of those IOs doesnt affect the MMs I have that can't. I have 2 MMs with 2x and 2 without. I have no issue playing either.

    the aura is around you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Huh. That, I was unaware of. Slightly increases the use of it, but still not sure it'd be something I'd specifically slot for. I'll have to look into it more in detail.

I'd also add that a monthly fee gives us players economic leverage. If the devs let the game get stale or lose quality, we can just cancel and go play something else. If they already HAD our money, they lose nothing if we leave.

    [/ QUOTE ]

On a tangent, though, would we really want those kind of people to retain forum privledges?

I mean, geez. Can you imagine getting stuck with Johnny_Butane for your entire game's career...? Or worse people.

    I'm probably on a few people's lists.
  16. Doing a lifetime subscription, period, is a bit of a gamble with your money, and I imagine a lot of MMO companies that don't decide to go with a microtransaction model already know.

Taking the one example we have numbers for, $300 is a bit short of two years paying a standard subscription fee. When you're looking at this sort of thing, you have to wonder if the game servers will be up in a two year period (Tabula Rasa) in the first place, let along long enough after that for you to get a significant savings from it. Then you have to consider whether you, the player, are even going to be that interested in a game long enough to make the most of that time.

That's a bit of a gamble for a game that's already been out for five years, and constantly updated with a fair amount of free content in that time as it is. I mean, statistically, this far out it could potentially close next year, and if you bought a 'lifetime' subscription now you'd actually lose out on the deal. If you even played that long.

I'm sort of glad I never got a lifetime sub to any of the games I'd been considering it, because a quick cost-benefit analysis showed that there were better uses of the time/money then that. There's been two games so far that I wish I had, and neither of them offered the option. I can't say I think this is a bad, long-term choice for the companies in question.

    [ QUOTE ]
It's also the model used by some of the bigger games, because while some of those do offer lifetime subscriptions, I know two of those limit them only to people that went from Beta to Launch or bought the Collector's edition, and put everyone else on a monthly subscription.

    [/ QUOTE ]
In the case of LOTRO, the "Founders" plan allowed people to get the lifetime subscription for $200. Anyone can get it now for $300.

By way of anecdote, I don't know *anyone* who would pay $300 all at once to play an MMO, even if they knew they'd save money in the long run.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, that's a huge change from when I was actually playing it, then. My bad thar.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
May I remind the ones who think that the continuous payment is required for the devteam that it's possible without? There are billions, billions of games that do not have continuous fees and that work perfectly well. Such as S4 league, MapleStory, the aforementioned games Age of Conan, GuildWars, Dungeons & Dragons online and Lord of the Rings Online. How can they get by? The same way NCSoft could get by with City of Heroes/Villains.

Sharker Quint: Reword it please. Your comment makes no sense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

S4 and Maple Story are microtransaction games where they give you in-game benefits (through special one-or-limited use items, or items only useable for a short period) that you purchase with the currency of your country of origin. Some people spend more then $15 a month for these benefits, and I know at least a few people that have and did spend over a hundred dollars a month to play those and similar games.

LotRO and DDO both only offered 'lifetime' subscriptions to those people that had been around at Launch, as a courtesy and a thank-you to those that had been with them since the Beta, while not allowing people that purchased outside of a certain period (I do believe 3 months for LotRO) to have similar benefits.

Guild Wars is a bit unique, though they also have paid expansions coming out like clockwork that they make you pay for, as well.

A grand majority of the 'free to play' games are, in reality, based on a microtransaction pay model.

    [ QUOTE ]
At heart, all of you agree with me. A one time fee would be far better. You may be ridiculing it, there's nothing wrong with the idea. The continuous fee is more ridiculous than the idea to replace it with a one-time fee.

    [/ QUOTE ]

$15 a month is dirt cheap entertainment. Going to see a movie can cost $10 or more for just 2 hours worth of entertainment. MMOs are $15 for unlimited access.

If it were a pay once and that's it deal, there wouldn't be free content like we have now. A lot of the recent Issues have had game changing features / QoL changes.

I have no problem at all with the monthly fee setup we currently have.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's how I look at it. A good trip to the theatre could cost you at least $15, for a somewhat more annoying and short-term entertainment value (with social aspect attached). A concert could cost you at least four times that, and only lasts maybe a day if you're lucky - just a few hours if you're not.

Pack of cigarettes? Five dollars (rounded) a pack, and if you're lucky you can stretch that a week. If you're not... maybe a day. Alcohol? Fifteen dollars for a 30 pack of cheap swill at the minimum, and if you go for good, decent stuff.. around 10 for a 6-pack. Most people can burn through that in a week (the 30-pack, at least).

Fifteen bucks for access to a game? Far cheaper in the long run, though the health benefits are probably about equivilant in the long run if you play it a lot. Fifteen dollars... for an entire month of entertainment? Less, if you buy in a larger subscription (I think I paid $13/month, pre-paid out to a year).

It's also the model used by some of the bigger games, because while some of those do offer lifetime subscriptions, I know two of those limit them only to people that went from Beta to Launch or bought the Collector's edition, and put everyone else on a monthly subscription.

  23. Atlas is a busy zone because there isn't really a whole lot you can't do from there.

Start a supergroup, hit the market, go to the Vanguard Base, use AE, go one zone over to access the Green Line, Yellow Line in zone, two hazard zones bracketing it that lead to a majority of other zones in and of themselves... All in very, very close relative proximity to everything else. It's less than 900 yards from AE to Wentworths, and about that from there to the Base Portal and City Hall (supergroup registrar). The only thing it's missing is a Tailor (nullified with Pocket D port or a properly set up base) and people would probably never leave the zone except for specific missions (capes, auras, costume slots, midnighter access) and taskforces.

Mercy Island has a similar, but reduced problem in that a lot of it's very important things (Trainer, Market, AE) are also all very close to one another. And just one zone over (which is also in the same packed half of the map as everything else) you can get to Pocket D or hit up the Black Helicopter to get around some as well.

I doubt they're going to move from either zone, especially compounded by the fact that both zones are full of trivial (read: beyond ignorable) enemies and are right where newly created characters to PL* are going to dump out into anyway, and it's a bit of a gold mine for them.

    Sad, but true.

*DISCLAIMER: Yes, I'm aware not all farmers are PLers, so that comment only applies to those that do both.
