  1. Thats the problem. I dont mind the actual power sfx for PBs. The shapeshift boom, the attack 'hits', etc.
Its the aftereffect, the high pitched 'whiiiiiiiiine' that you hear when you select PBs on the char creation screen. It pops up after EVERY attack, every toggle, even flying. It stacks, too. And gets REALLY annoying...

    CHRIST ON A STICK!

Yes, Id forgotten about that...don't know why, considering my PB gal is Human form only.
Sheese, I have to play with the sound turned right down when playing her in missions, it drives me freaking insane.

If there is one set in game that needs ALL the sfx looked at and tweaked, its PBs. BADLY.
Although Mudpots and Arctic Fog, along with CC, are pretty bad offenders too.
  3. Ah yeah, Id forgotten about that little gem...
Although thats STILL not as bad as the winner of the all time 'Broken Escort Mission' award, which is Sister Airlia's 'Escort Ghost Widow' mission.

The arc shouldnt unlock till 40. But it does. It unlocks at 35. So, I had a level 35 'AV' class Ghost Widow...versus a giant ambush with a Longbow Boss, a ton of Nullifiers, minions and a Ballista...who were ALL level 40.
And because she was a fighting ally, not a passive ally? Insta-miossion fail. I died, she followed a second later. /golfclap

Just make sure she's not in "rescue aggro" range when her spawn is finished off, so she stays in "captured" mode.

Yes, discovered that one by accident - one of her spawn ran off, IIRC, and we finished it off with another spawn - then decided to just clear a path and come back.

    Edit:

... the fir Bolg mission isn't that tough. And it's 30. It's far from a guaranteed failure.

The mission in the OP, however, *is* flawed - aggro-happy low-HP mobs I'd much rather take out. I've saved them without a heal, but it's probably 50/50 for me between "Success" and "Fast failure."
I stand corrected. I guess I just get mad at it when I have no way at all of keeping the mobs focussed on me in that one.

Saving 'General Suicider and Ambassador Death Wish', as they are known to me, becomes impossible when Aarons two powers are pistol...and brawl.
I mean, for the love of sanity, give the old guy an assault rifle? Something that lets him sit back and actually have a bit of a kick. At least the Ambassador has psychic attacks, mez and, when all else fails, a Rikti sword. Aarons, though, tends to die faster than a worm at a seagull family reunion. Especially versus Nemesis.

This is the problem I run into. The very first mob I run into, without fail, has the Rikti in. Unless im on a stalker, there is no way around this. Its like the 'Stop 10 Fir Bolg' mission in Croatoa; if you dont have a very specific power type or AT, your GOING to fail.

And thatm as far as I see anyway, is not fun.
  6. -by allowing General Aarons and the Rikti Ambassador to be lead OUT of the mission. Either that, or make it so you only have to rescue them, NOT keep them alive.

The reason is very simple. They are pet level HP allies, in a mission full of Nemesis. With constant ambushes when you rescue one of them. And a boss fight that is not one, not two, but FOUR Fake Nemeses.

Nemesis as a group are plain nasty at the best of times. But expecting people to escort two Pet class allies through a hailstorm of AoE, snipers, a 4 boss fight and Vengeance spam?

Thats pretty much only possible with a few very specific teams. No team should HAVE to have a specific makeup, just to avoid failing a mission. And yes, its possible to Drop it. Dropping missions is (usually) saved for bugged missions, or missions that no one can really be bothered to do (Tailor missions, this one, etc)

That should probaby give a good indication that the mission itself is more a lesson in frustration, and not actually fun.
  7. ....
Who do I have to stab, maim or brutally maul with cyber-weasels to get those parts?
  8. Anything that toggles on should, if it has a sound effect, fade out after a while IMO.
I run into the same problem with (I think) Peacebringer flight, which has a rather annoying whine alongside it, on top of the normal flight noise.

I also notice a lot of Ice power toggles seem to have sfx that doesnt die off like it should after a while.
Actually, speaking of Kheldians, Id kill to have the end 'chiiiiiiime' part snipped off entirely. When your stacking the first 3 blasts rather frequently, that chime sound gets incredibly annoying. Its at just the right pitch to give me a migraine, and judging by other comments in the past Im not the only one whos not overly fond of it.

Durrr, yes, sorry, complete and utter mindfail on my part there. I remember now
Well...yeah, why not in that case. Given the 'theft', it makes sense.

  10. If its not related to Open Season, Id say AE arc.

I can't really see the CoT doing that myself, for a number of reasons.
    1) Steel isnt there normal turf, irrc
    2) Why would they do anything to help the Court? By all accounts, villains hate the Circle as much as Heroes
    3) Would there be any ulterior motive to the attack? If not, then it probably doesnt tie into Open Season.

this would require new skeletons. not to mention how do you get powers for the creatures? way to much work when you can use your costume slots to make different creature costumes to change into.
And don't me started on slotting. Kheldians are hard enough with two forms. Can you imagine a whole SET of forms?

Oh code....I think I'm gonna need to lie down for half an hour...
  13. Is any progress being made on the tech to allow for Backpacks and more back items for players?
Given that, accordding to some accounts, this was actually already working well with the VG back items in I9, before they got redacted.

If they hired three guys just to do staves, so one could be reasonably sure it wasn't pulling resources away from them making another set, and sold the fruits of that as an optional Booster, I'd say 'go team'. If they did the opposite of that, I'd complain, obviously. Hell, if they promised some actual super power sets, I'd animate the damn staves set myself on my own time for nothing and crank out the weapon models for customization.

    .
    Weapon sets = 9
Non Weapon Sets = 58, including electric control and kin melee*

*(I included demons in the last count)

I don't think we're exactly starved for non-weapon sets. Saying "Why give people dual pistols, they can use thugs pistols!" .... Well, yeah...they can... that gives them three attack powers on an AT that is balanced around having pets, severely gimps their build options and probably makes them pariah from the majority of PuGs for being a petless MM. Thats like saying "Why give someone a Fireball set when that set has a 'Singe with Lighter' power in it."

Out of the requests I remember, Staves and some sort of bladed halberd/spear/scythe weapon are all the ones left I can think of that are in no way possible to fudge at the present moment. That'd bring it up to a grand total of 11.
Now, if they were going round making sets willinilly like 'Fire sword', 'Light Sword' etc which were, literally, just carbon clones, then yes, I'd complain too.

Heck, I'd like to see Dark Blast ported to Blasters, some sort of Dark Manipulation set, some sets that allow for PPD style Power armour (wrist mounted chainguns, nuff said)...and thats not even STARTING on the wish for a Rikti EAT.

Will it happen? Eventually, who knows? Will people be happy if they come out? In some cases, probably not. What one person will love, another will go "I didn't want that, I wanted XYZ!" The Devs simply can't win. The 'Question of Priorities' doesnt cater to one person. It has to cater to as many people as it can.

The rest of the set you can fill out with sword attacks and Bob's your uncle.
On that point, you have one, yes. Spines has the most, with a cone, ranged ST and a toggle PBAoE. Claws has two. So...possible.

Although I seriously think you have too much of a bee in your bonnet about weapon sets. I see you conveniently didn't reply to the hard number comparison of Weapon to non-weapon sets. We have about four if not five times the ammount of non-weapon sets. In fact, the number I gave was wrong; I forgot to add in Kinetic Melee and Electric Control. So it will be 50 something +2

While I would still love to see a power set based on or similar to what the PPD Power armour cops use at the moment, simply giving a broadsword and saying 'pretend its a katana' is also pretty lame. Super (and, more importantly, NON super) Heroes still use conventional weapons too. Or things that at least look like conventional weapons, albeit with laser blades/dark matter blades/super-morphing death skin-metal stuff.

-Limb Shapeshifting ala Sandman, Carnage, Warblade. Completely doable in the engine. See Stone Fists.
So...you just supplied a powerset that can in fact do that? Why not use it? Admittedly, it's where you can (Tanks, Brutes, Doms) and thats not perhaps as wide as it should be. Things dont appear overnight though.

    Quote:
-True speedsters like the Flash, Quicksilver, etc. Super Speed Melee was mentioned as a set the devs wanted to do once, but was buried by mundane weapon sets.
Hmn. So, would you suggest anything? I know that something not possible with this game engine is attacking while moving, which a Super Speed melee set practically demands, if not outright needs. How many times can you punch someone really fast? It will still, in the end, simply be punches and kicks. 'Another Mundane punching set', hmm? Tastes differ.

-Ironically, any character that uses both swords and a gun. I would have voted on a blended set long before having them add additional options for them separate.
It would only really work for the Dominator, though. I would STILL kill for a Ranged/Armour or Assault/Armour AT, though. And I would also kill for sword + pistol set, so we'll let that one lay about.

    Quote:
-Dual whip characters like Conduit, Omega Red, Constrictor, Ivan Vanko. The fact that the whips are usualy energy based and retract into the character's arms solves the coiling and draw issues the devs found before they settled on fire whips for DS MMs.
They weren't working on something they didn't have the tech for...because they didnt have the tech for it? This one confuses me.
Synapse, Castle and/or BaBs (or a mix of the three) said that JUST the whip attacks in Demons took the same time as an ENTIRE new set. Thats just three powers. Don't get me wrong, it'd be cool. And now they DO have the tech, who knows? But they have to do what they're told too, and part of that is a time/results ratio.

    Quote:
-Probability/Luck manipulation like Scarlet Witch, Shamrock, Domino. Would make a nice buff/debuff set.
Can you suggest anyway it would work? Besides things like Super Reflexes, I can't think of anything. I'm not even sure how you'd get it to work as a buff/debuff set that wouldnt simply be an existing one with new power FX.

    Quote:
Yes, I'll admit weapon sets are easy, and the devs love their low hanging fruit. But considering the usual time between new power sets, I'm getting a little sick of the mundane and of gun/sword variations, which is what we've gotten a fairly large percentage of.
    Hmn...
For Going Rogue we got four new power sets. These covered all the non-EAT ATs on both sides.
    Demon Summoning
    Electric Control
    Kinetic Melee
    and then Dual Pistols

So...thats 1/4 is a weapon set. One that Players have begged for since the game came out.

    In total we have;

    Weapon sets = 9
    Non-Weapon sets = 56

Thats Including Heroes and Villains, and not including EATs.
I think you are, ever so slightly, blowing this way outta proportion.
  20. Hmn, I wonder if that fixed a bug someone reported in my arc, saying they ran it at level 34 yet the last AV showed up at level 40..? In'resting
  21. The main problem is making them work with Player powers, afaik. For example, thats probably why we never got a CoT mage Halloween costume. Because for certain powersets, like Martial Arts, it simply wouldnt work.

(Okay, not 100% exactly. The player version used to be usable while you're dead, the Nemesis version activates on death. But the player version could be activated multiple times, and a player could conceivably activate it immediately on dying.)

Also, if Nemesis Vengeance worked like the player versions, you'd be even more screwed. Right now, it only happens with a lieutenant dies. If they had our version, you'd get it when anything Nemesis died, so long as a lieutenant was standing.
In a way, that would be preferable. Simply kill all the LTs, then mop up the minions.
Now its a case of everytime you kill one of the tougher, more damaging enemies, you actually make ALL the mob EVEN nastier.
    Its a lose/lose situation, really.
  24. Stalkers work fine as is. If theres a problem, its with whoever is playing them. Not the AT.

In short, I agree with everything you say AND would fight to the death your right to say it, but it all it means is just another voice echoing off to an empty hall or another martyr for a lost cause.
Sorry, I'm feeling poetic and ranty.
Problem is, AR ISNT interesting. In fact its one of the most boring to look at sets out there right now. Personally, it'd be more interesting for me if it was all shoulder shots, because thats how guns work. Hip firing doe slug and burst doesnt look cool, it looks pretty lame really. Buckshot is fine, because, hell its buckshot; you fire it and stuff in front of you gets hit, no questions asked. M30 Grenade bugs me a little, because those DO require aiming. Maybe something that looks like either flipping the second safety off, or flipping up the grenade sights? Then firing from a more shoulderly stance. That'd be cool.

Flamethrower gets away with it, as does ignite. You cant really aim them in real life, either, you just douse stuff with it. Full Auto bugs me again, because, despite what movies show, you try firing anything other than a minigun like that in real life and you'll be about as accurate as a fart in a whirlwind.
Going into a crouch with the gun up to the shoulder and then opening up would look a lot cooler, IMO.

Anyhow, just ideas. Since he asked
