Huh, that was odd. On both W00t and YouTube I was getting most of the sound out of the right speaker.

Oh well, the raw version on W00t works great. Higher rez that way, too! Right click the link and pick Save As... to download it and keep it forever.
  2. No prob, now back to work with ya! And no sneaky playing that silly computer game - what was it's name? City of Warcraft?
  3. Elitist? No. You get told you are getting an exclusive item, then they start giving it to others later on, that's a rather bad thing. If you get told you'll get a trophy for winning a race, win the race, get the trophey, then see everyone else get at trophy just like your trophey a few days later, it's going to be a let down.

It's hard to get upset by this one, though. I mean, it's over fifty months! Heck, for the next year and a few months, the only people getting the reward will be folks who were here but just didn't pre-order.

Plus, honestly, the VEAT outfits work far better than those helmets. Though they can be handy for giving you a little bit of the VEAT uniform even when you aren't wearing the uniform.

The natural-origin problem on the 54 month powers does worry me, though. Naturals are going to have to be given a not-buffed version if they pick the other ranged power, IMHO. Otherwise, vets are going to be picking Natural origin far more than the others.
  4. There are quite a few ways to define a spiral. A start point, an end point, number of times to go around, and a time to do the whole thing... doesn't quite do it. Your code is probably either keeping a constant angular velocity (degrees per second) or keeping the camera moving at a constant speed (which means the spin motion will get faster as the camera gets closer in, like it was in a whirlpool).

Dies Irae doesn't do either. That opening slows down the angular speed and true speed of the camera. And it moves upwards, to boot. For something like that I would want: Starting position, center point, how many seconds to move, starting velocity (speed and direction), inward velocity, angular acceleration, and inward acceleration. Then I would need to stick all that into a formula to figure out the camera's POS/PYR for the whole time it takes.

On the plus side, I could do it on a moving object just about as easily as on a center point. Perhaps a moving object that is already doing another spiral!
  5. That's for sure. They were doing stuff with the camera in that DIes Irae video back in 2006 that I still can't pull off! Plus the music is awesome.

"Should I even BOTHER with this contest, since it's not like I'm going to win?"

    [/ QUOTE ]
First off, because you do have a good shot at winning. Second off, because even third place will net you something like thirty VERY fancy pizzas. Third off, because you do good stuff and we want to see it, even if it doesn't win.
  7. Good job, Vorac! I still don't understand the dialog bit but I think that's really just voiced stuff. We don't have those - or at least not any with words (which would have to be translated).

We've still got the open question of how many times you can enter. Guidelines say once, rules say once per day as long as each entry is different then goes into detail about what constitutes 'different.' I'm betting the rules are right.
  8. Nope, this is a contest being held by GameTrailers and Toyota. NCNC/NCSoft might have paid some $'s to be the game to use for the contest but it isn't their contest.
  9. Well I was sure getting a mess on the demo I was playing with. Turns out it was putting the PYR commands before the POS commands but the POS commands had the timing. Also, it was not saving the custom weapons in the new MOV command correctly.

I fixed both those problems and uploaded a new version last night. I haven't had time to test the fixes very well, though.

BTW, with my demo edit, you can just enter the coordinates you want for where the camera starts. If you want it to be half a mile out, you can do that.

What you can't do is spiral in. I've got a tab for adding that some day but I've never done the code for it.
  10. GHHAA! I just tried my own Demo Editor so I could explain to you how it works there, but something awful is going on. It circles around nicely but the yaw is NOT smooth at all. It's jerking along pretty bad - so bad that it's hard to even watch for very long. Guiess I've got some fixing to do.
  11. Are there also Hasselhat polygons?

Wow, that flashback crystal room is really sweet!

Now that the latest Fanzine is out, I can finally show some closeups of the piece. It's all Poser and post-work.

    MIDNIGHT HOUR - Poster

MIDNIGHT HOUR - Detail shot (Ghost Widow)

MIDNIGHT HOUR - Detail shot (Back Alley Brawler)

I like it, but the post is a bit off. BABs should be looking a bit more be to the left, like slightly towards his left shoulder...and maybe a bit upwards.

Then I think it'd be perfect.

Careful there, Brawler, she's hung you up to dry before!

    Vertical Studio is just amazing!
  14. Errr, you might want to read more of the topic.
  15. Never played GTA4 but I think what you are asking is impossible. The only words you can make pop up that show in demo playback are chat bubbles.

Edit: and those little floating text messages like "critical" and "overpower"

It says "With the exception of those elements which are contained within the Selected Games..." That sounds like the scope of the game to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep, I see that. It does say "elements", but it is not specific as to the meaning. Is that characters and building or actions? Seems weird to list all the other disclaimers if they are considered acceptable because they are "elements".

    True?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, I would guess 'elements' means any element in the game. But that gets a little fuzzy, too. Say I want to show my character blowing stuff up in Faultline (like the opening of my demo edit promo video). So I put some mayhem objects in there and drop their HP to 0, which makes them blow up. Objects blowing up are elements of the game, Faultline is an element of the game, but objects blowing up in Faultine is NOT a part of the game. So is that legal?

What about a voice-over talking about the violent actions? Even if the violent actions are straight out of normal gameplay, voices certainly are not. So would the voice-over disqualify the vid?? (And, with that self-contradicting first point, heaven only knows what we are supposed to do with NPC chatter.)

It's a pity they don't just use the guidelines. Those make perfect sense. Actually, I haven't noticed anything crazy in the rest of the detailed rulse. It's just that one "follow MTV guidelines" sections that's crazy.

It says nothing about the scope of the game.

The GT guy, however, put his own voice into the video. His own voice isn't part of the game. That's why I said his video wouldn't pass lawyer muster.
  19. I should point out that the rules in no way exclude NCSoft employees. Toyota and MTV, yes, but not NCSoft!
  20. I think "excellent" may be pushing it. This thing is getting HUGE! It needs tabs or a table of contents or something.

Anyway, it has been updated to the latest patch.

Oh rats - except I forgot to mention the skirt bug got fixed. I'll get that real quick.
  21. Yeah, especially if they show it on MTV or some such. But I think the rules state that they can edit out any part they want, which I assume would also mean the credits. Better make the credits really cool so they don't want to edit them out, eh?

Having a Gametrailers, MTV, and/or NCSoft lawyer pop in and help us out would sure be nice.

Has Gametrailers done one of these before? I go to that site pretty often anyway and I can't remember one but I wouldn't be surprised if I forgot.
  22. Got the variety covered over on WeGame! (Though it's still a woman character for most of it.)
  23. Hmmmm, you're right SlickRiptide. I pretty much ignored that bit because we don't have voice acting here and I couldn't think of why anyone would include any of the NPC dialog, but it really doesn't make any sense. It essentially says:

With the exception of those elements which are contained within CoX, your video must NOT contain any dialogue or vocal effects from CoX.

Whaaa??? Better send this back to the lawyer(s) from whence it came and tell him/her/them to fix it up. (And don't forget to send Lighthouse the patch notes for what's changed! )

Open only to Americans. Great. Typical.

    [/ QUOTE ]
There's a very good reason for that. Letting somebody win who's outside the USA means they have to deal with a LOT more legal ramifications. Heck, look at the age restrictions just in the USA alone. Must be age 18 to enter, or maybe 19, or maybe 21, depending on which state you live in. Making the contest work in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, France, Japan, Korea, and all other countries where the game has a following would drive the cost way up. Making it work woldwide would be hopeless.

Sorry, but until we have a single world government, the vast majority of contests you see are going to be restricted by country.
