Nice start but... uhh... do you have to have the map up? And the chat windows? And the nav bar? It would be nice if you took down a bunch of the windows that aren't needed so you don't have the interface taking up so much screen space.
It would sure be nice if we could show each primary and secondary in action but... jeez... that'd be a half hour video at least.
(BTW, also in the "CoH advertisement to friends" style, I did a quick vid showing off the character creator. Plug plug. ) -
Ernesto Hess task force - minimum level 25. You got no problem 8Baller.
I can bring... well, quite a few. We'll see what I feel like at the time, but I'm leaning toward Tesslah - she's the most photogenic. -

I may be wrong, and this may actually make you feel worse when you realize that the governing council will pick what they feel is the best 5 based on what ever criteria they feel important.

Oooo, you're right. Leandro, you might want to arrange for a box of donuts to be sent over right about when they are judging.
The CoH playerbase has already gotten a big win, though. That's a lot of videos for just one month plus we got some more folks interested in the art. This should lead to some better free-form videos.
It's a pitty Verticle Studios couldn't get in on this. I mean, "getting in touch with your dark side"? That's their thing! I would have loved to have seen Hype 3, too. And maybe the suprise return of the Abyss family. And the Operatives. And.... and I better stop now. I'm watching a lot of videos all of the sudden and my web session is gonna time out if I don't get moving. -
Yeah, it happens sometimes but not all the time. Half the time new issues come out, I record a few demos in a row that work fine and happily announce that the bug is dead. Then it promptly pops right back up again.
-
I certainly do! I used that method extensively in the beta test Rikti invasion.
-
Remember folks: Think once. Think twice. Think DON'T LET AN ALIEN EAT YOUR FACE AND TAKE OVER YOUR BODY! Yeah, they say they are dying, but isn't it funny how they always seem to be "dying" around heroes that have just recently been granted level 50 security access?

And I REALLY want to make my video for this!

I'll mail you a dollar if you use the original song instead!
Too
much
beeeeat!
Now I need to go watch Excalibur again. -
Test server sounds good to me - this is for fun not for xp.
Lady Grey TF would be great fun but I think you have to be 35 just to get into the zone.
Ouroborus would be fun, too, but you'll have to pick hero or villain.
Or we could just have at it in Warburg. Muuuhahahahaa! -
ParagonWiki has info on recording and demo editing. (And a big thanks to Scuzzbopper for them!)

I think the music was only in the credits, which I don't think are supposed to be part of the contest entry. (Which, by the way, is one awesome video!!)
So far, no entries have shown up with a date later than August 7th. The term 'epic fail' comes to mind. They really need to extend this contest. -

Heck, I still have to finish my Boom De Yada vid

Yes. You most. Certaily. DO!
Mirahj, yeah, that bit on in-game voices is from the self-contradictory section of the detailed rules. To summarize, it says that, except for in game elements, no in game voices may be used. <rolls eyes> -

Who wants to start taking bets that I get disqualified?

What for? And what was all that griping about the music? The music seemed perfect for the mood of this video!
Great video, it's got a real shot at winning. To use a pun. The only gripe I have is that it's too hard to see the assassin in the sniper shots in low rez, at least after YouTube has its way with the compression.
And, like I just said, I'm REALLY impressed with the roll-around-corner and peeking moves! I expect to see a few posts on the tech forum soon asking what the command is to hide against a corner. -

I don't think they will properly appreciate the difficulty level of those things.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's for the better, IMHO. Remember, they are thinking about showing the winner to a lot of people and practically all those people won't appreciate the difficulty, either. For instance, DR's new video has her assassin twisting behind a corner to put her back to the wall. That's a VERY impressive trick in this game! But most of the folks watching are just going to think that's part of the game. So, while my socks get knocked clear into the next room at such a thing, they probably won't even notice.
Gotta remember that the art is the goal, not showing off what fancy tricks you can do. Anyone who forgets that will be forced to read web pages from the mid 90's where people seemed to think "the more tags the better." (Eeesh... my eyes still sting! <h1><flash><b><u><i> OUCH!</i></u></b></h1> -
!!!!!
So Issue 13 is going to introduce a new mini-game! Lawn chess! Or maybe bases will be able to have huge chess boards and people with base edit rights can play while everyone else watches.....
City of Heroes - minutes to learn, a lifetime to master!
Very nice find, Leandro! -
Assuming you remember that Trig course from back in high school, anyway. I wish I had about a year so I could make a real, 3D edit program!
I made it easy to switch from one player character to another. It wouldn't be hard to program in something to change it from one NPC to another but keeping a full list of ALL the NPCs would be insane. Maybe I could let you folks type it in, though, with a link on the form pointing to Scuzzbopper's web page... hmmm! -

So.... Did anyone catch from my video's credits that I'm a guy? Just curious as to whether that came as a surprise to anyone.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ya got me! (Though I have to warn you, I'll probably forget again pretty soon. Gender is about as important as shoe size around here and you've got a female avatar to help throw me off.) -
[ QUOTE ]
So, now I'm done. I hope. Lord, don't make me go all freaky evil on GT's butt because they denied my entry...
[/ QUOTE ]
But that's what MY entry was going to be! Star Dancer gets in touch with her dark side! You would have signed the release form in the Gametrailer judge's blood. <sigh> Oh well.
By the way folks, don't get too discouraged by other people's entries. The grass is always greener and all that. Plus, you've probably been watching your own video hundreds of times. Of course it's going to get a bit old.
Oh, and for pity's sake, ignore the ratings people give on GT. Many folks will rate you a 1 because they don't like paying monthly fees for games, or because they think this is DC Online and they own an X-Box, or other stupidities. It's the judges that count. -
Zloth hits Everto with a hammer which he dispenses from his bag

Here is what my entry was going to be.
Thanks to Hertz, Jester, Mindscythe, Dark_Respite, Mysidia and Trixi Hill for being voice and player actors.
Prime Time Grime
Good luck to the rest of you!
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately, it's breaking a certain unwritten rule. When a TV personality gets beat up off camera, he must say "Not the face." Sorry Ashcraft, better luck next time!
Hehehe, put him in a body bag and make him go woo woo woo. I don't know if the judges will get that joke, but it had me laughing out loud! -

As for demoediting - I don't think, even if it is explained to them in excruciating detail, that they will be able to tell an edited recording from an unedited one.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's what I was thinking. Never make a law you can't enforce - and that would be a difficult one to enforce. -
Oh boy. They tell one person that other voices are fine if you get release forms, they tell somebody else they aren't fine at all.
The detailed rules DO cover this and they say it's fine but you have to get permission AND release forms. I think we covered that back earlier in the topic. I thought folks pretty much decided that it just wasn't worth the bother - then everyone starts talking about their voice actors. I figured I just missed something. (Or maybe I'm thinking of the topic on Gametrailers?)
Demos might very well confuse them. I've seen lots of games that can record gameplay but I haven't seen one that does it in a manner that players can easily edit. -

Support, advice, tons of self hatred at one's own work while praising and encouraging others.

You don't even have to go that far - just take a look at the artists in the Screenshot/FanArt forum. This forum is sounding more and more like them every day.
Oooo! Can Zloth get in lots of videos with exceptionally provacative heroines and villainettes like Thor's Assassin? Please? He'll be good. (After all, there's nothing left in that armor but a dried out husk. Well, mostly dried out. Oh, and some Skittles. Dang supergroup silly persons.) -
No prob!
It just needs to be turned off when playing a demo back. (Though turning it on has it's uses, too. Gets rid of all those buff shields and haste pom poms.)
