Your first question depends on your scanner. Mine has an option to Restore Photograph, which darkens it to the same shade as on paper. You can also go into Photoshop and use curves to darken a sketch (sorry, I only use Photoshop...I don't know the equivalent in other programs)
For the second question, I rarely ink by hand any more, because I prefer the clean lines from digitally inking with the pathing tools. But when I did ink by hand, there's a handy little plugin, Mack's Remove White , that removes the white and leaves only the black. (I generally run my inked image through Adobe Streamline first to smooth the lines, then pop it into Photoshop and use Mack's on it)
I know there are other ways of going about it, but that's the way I do it. Hope it helps -
I disagree. If an artist agrees to provide a prize, in my opinion, the prize should be provided in a timely manner. If an artist doesn't have time, or has other obligations that would prevent fulfillment of the contest, then don't agree to provide a prize in the first place.
RL obligations and emergencies notwithstanding, of course. -
I recently finished a pair of commissions for our own Turbo-Ski, one featuring her namesake character:
Turbo-Ski (possibly NSFW)
and one of Lady Farsight -
Commented on dA, but I'll say it here too. As much as I like the color version, I love this one more. The beauty of the piece is well-captured in the stark black-and-white.

I like the pose and the expression on her face. Very dynamic.
The only real things I see, critique-wise...is the picture reversed? The bot-arm was on the other side in the screenshot. And the other...the back shoulder looks a little too prominent given the curve of her body.
Dropping her shoulder just slightly and decreasing the line from her right breast gives a slightly smoother flow, IMO.
My suggestion -

I just put together a retrospective on Soul Train, upon her tagging 50 yesterday.

I'm sure that you could find a piece or two there. And yes, all artists are credited.

I'ma be grabbing some of these to go with your interview... -
My two cents:
I rarely post art on here. Mostly because it's not work safe. I don't ask for critiques here, because I belong to another board for just that purpose. If someone wants to offer one, yes, I would prefer it be in PM unless I'm specifically asking for critiques/advice (and there have been a lot of posts here requesting just that)
Unsolicited critiquing can grate a bit...I posted some of my recent work on the Livejournal CoH community and one person jumped on it for nit-picky things...I didn't really appreciate it.
Besides, I have a build-in critiquer sitting beside me. It usually has to pass Wyld's inspection before I post things anywhere. -
No...it means there will be extra goodies in next week's edition

Toxic Haven
Posted for Wyld, since I already had it uploaded
And a few of mine:
br0k3n (art look) and br0k3n in-game
Felis art and Felis in-game -
I have vanguard and winged boots...and wings (although not fairy wings...cherub and tech) on Felis. Alas, she's female.

You are a beautiful person, Marcian. I really didn't expect this, but thank you
(and all the TG pictures are on dA starting on the second page in my gallery, including Miss Liberty, GW, Numina and Swan) -
I don't think I posted a whole lot on the forums before I became unbr0k3n
-
My original forum name was br0k3n, then unbr0k3n (when br0 hit 50).
But my global is @darque, so I changed my forum name to _darque_ to match it for consistency's sake
