Quote:ROFLOL.... wow!1) Exploits are aganst the rules.
2) Copyright infringement is against the rules.
3) AE was not designed for farming. Positron was pretty clear on this. While the rules are blurry, the fact is it's viewed negatively. In short: Don't expect sympathy from any of us.
If you break the rules, you face the music. We, the community, have been charged with the task of being the eyes and ears of the Devs. They cannot monitor everything, so they rely on the whole of the playerbase to do that for them. If you have a problem with that, maybe you should request that they introduce paid Game Masters? Then you can really feel the hammer fall as you're judged by merciless NCSoft employees.
Farming is not against the rules.... Farming is not an exploit.... Ae wasn't designed to not allow farming either.... I dont' care what Posi said....
But funny reply anyway.. gave me a chuckle... -
Quote:That may not be the 'farm' that YOU are talking about but trust me your definition is not the consensus... If you ask everyone in this forum what a farm is they will tell you a hundred different answers. But if you walk them into a map with alot of enemies and an open map they will tell you it's a farm. So what I'm saying is that due to the publicly accepted basic definition of farms, good people with acceptable missions are being painted wrongdoers.I think we're using different definitions of "farm" here.
You seem to be using it in a way that's synonymous with "grinding" (taking mission after mission after mission to get through.) That's basic hunting, not farming.
Farming involves "cultivation"- sticking with a single thing/place (different AE missions don't count) that offers optimal reward (whatever you're interested in- gold, kills, xp, etc) at minimal risk. That's why it's so often associated with "exploit" -- by pushing the limits of maximizing reward and minimizing risk, the farm often steps into exploit territory.
If you're just running missions toward a goal, still experiencing risk that's proportionate to the reward, that's not the 'farm' we're talking about.
Also, to quote Prof_Backfire's Sig line: "If you're having fun, you're doing it right." -
Quote:I never said that "Devs" like farming.. I saidActually, the devs said that they didn't want AE to be used for farming. They said it before AE came to the test server, and it obviously went in one ear and out the other. Then they had to reinforce that they didn't want it to be used for farming after fixing the rikti comm. Still, people are still shocked on these boards when someone reports a farm. It really amazes me.
I'd like to point out that the devs don't mind non-AE farms that much. There's still Battle Maiden, a freak farm, BP mask farm, etc. So they really don't hate the farms that much.

Quote:Actually what i find funny is that you quote the real world... cause in the real world we all have capes and spandex and fly around or can run around at super speeds... *shakes head* seriously? You're still in high school aren't you?
In the real world, rules are actually important.
Look, report all you want. If the people that call the shots (notice I didn't say Devs) didn't like farming or thought it was bad for the game and the bottom line, they would just remove the facilities to do such things. It's simple. Pre-AE with the demons they could have done it. Now it looks like with the new issue they are adding a feature to allow you to set your team size without having the people on the team... sure sounds like they hate farming... -
Not that I know of... Actually if I am correct if it turns out the mission is found nonexploitive by customer service then it gets flagged as non-bannable until it gets changed by the owner. My problem roots in this overwhelming thought that farming is bad. Which I can roughly understand, but it really isn't. It's just a play style no different then the person that likes to read every part of a story arc for the story. I personally have a middle of the road attitude on it. I just play what i like and as long as it's not hurting me I just don't worry about it.

Quote:While I don't always agree with Nethergoat, I do on this issue. Why? Because "farming" is not illegal, broken, a crime, or against the rules of the game. Engaging in exploits, however, is.
To extend your anology, would you report someone leaning against a power pole because he might knock it down or climb up and cut the wires? Certainly you could. Some might even say "that pole leaner looks suspicious to me!" and feel vindicated in their reporting it to the authorities.
But in reality, you are doing a disservice to both the pole leaner and the authorities who now have to investigate.
/rant (sorta)
Very true. It's like the nosy neighbor calling the city cause your grass is an inch over the city ordinance. Now I could understand if this was an exploit like the mitos, but farming isn't an exploit, in fact quite a few I have been on are quite funny with an interesting story line. So while you click away at your "Report This Arc" button just remember that you are actually helping by desensitizing the Customer Support. But on the other hand I do have to congratulate you for showing the other players that there is more than MA. I just can't understand why people always have to tattle(non criminal word more in line with this childish way of thinking) on people who aren't doing anything wrong. Some people actually "enjoy" farming... I know I know how could they enjoy running from mob to mob mowing down enemies with little or no effort... I feel the same way about people who like olives...Yuck! but the weird thing is there are people on this earth that like olives... I don't get it but it's true... So do me a favor, the next time you hit the button think... am I really doing this to help people or am I doing this out of some childish need to inflict my will on other people (or there is my other theory that they are jealous because they have to work so hard and get little while farmers get alot for little work... but I'll save that for another time..) If you find that the second(or third) is more true then just lead the group on to another area or make an insightful fun arc to lead them to like their non-farming messiah. Either way only report if there is an exploit or a blatant form of copyright-infringement an i mean an exploit you can explain not "but it's a small map, with a bunch of tightly clustered groups with ambushes!"

If you choose to reply about either let it be known that I will look at you, stick my right thumb to the end of my nose, wiggle all other fingers upright in the air and blow a raspberry at you! lol -
I will monitor it better to find out more information but the problem is that it happens and I don't even notice it till I'm knocked across the room or I start dying (which doesn't happen often unless debuffed all to heck. As far as malta or freakshow, I avoid Malta at all cost and Freakshow it may have happened but I have noticed it on more than that. And on a side note It takes alot for me to run out of Endurance and with the 14 toggles(exaggeration) I only one drops and it seems to be anytime while fighting or not. Like I said I will play him for a few days and see if I can get a little more detail on the situation.
~O.P. -
Bug: Willpower non offensive toggles randomly drop like "Mind Over Body" or "Indomitable Will" and when I say randomly I mean at any point while playing, on top of being mezzed.

Sucks though we just removed most of our pretties to redesign with bigger plot and double doors.... Although I'm sure I have some screenies somewhere....

Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?
Storage will be an issue. Rather than stockpiling the pieces I use I will now have to use personal storage. Raising the storage capacity of the invention storage would help.
2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?
Once used to it it will be easier to build things. Instead of converting base salvage to components then crafting I can just get the components I'll need and get to crafting.
3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?
The new system isn't hard it will just be cumbersome until we get used to which salvage we will use regularly.
4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?
I'm not sure.
5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?
Well the salvage storage concerns me a little... but now that pathing restrictions have been lifted I can secure a couple of racks for base building.
Additional Notes:
First: I would like to thank whoever got the devs to lift the raid pathing restrictions... You, sir or Ma'am, are my hero....
Second: I would like to thank you ExLibris for making such an effort to show us the communication we have been craving. I know that we can be a fickle bunch and I appreciate your efforts to appease us. -
