Oh Moonbase, here I come!

LOL.
Actually, my hair has always been that grey...the one photo is in shadow.
[/ QUOTE ]
Appearently it did result in a hair cut if nothing else. -

Fixed---just for you and my *peace* of mind.
Okay, fixed again. Grrr!
Why is it that emails and message board posts are so conducive to errors. Perhaps just typing too fast and not taking the time to read the stuff over?
Really makes me grit my teeth.

Lol. Yeah - you don't wanna be passed up becuase you can't spell.
spelling police: I know, it's misspelled.
Edit: Gill, there is a cool preview function that really helps. -

* Manticore also dropped that Statesman has a unique ability which is represented on his Heroclix figure: The lightning of Zeus.
[/ QUOTE ]
only one problem......that lightning bolt on the figure is on ALL Heroclix figures. It shows how many attacks that figure can make on his turn. just FYI
[/ QUOTE ]
I was not referring to his attacks. I was referring to Quake and Pulse Wave. I baked those into the design of his dial to represent his ability to call upon the Lightning of Zeus.

Yeah, Incarnate refers to a deity. Statesman is "Zeus Incarnate" Zeus in the Flesh. Zeus inhabits the body of Statesman.
Likely hades inhabits the body of Lord Recluse.

'Cept Hades is Zues' brother, not arch enemy.
Chronos perhaps... but I doubt Hades. -

Saying that is like saying that all Canadians are American.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, Canadians are Americans. Canada is situated in North America, that being roughly half of the American Continent. The only problem is that there is no good word for people from the United States of America other than the very generic "American". "US:ers" or "Staters" would be more accurate but they do sound a little odd.
Though, you could live in Canada without being American or even Canadian. You could be born somewhere completely different. But, enough of this off-topic stuff now.
So, to actually add something to the thread, I'll just say that "Mythical" would be the Incarnate origin. No Magic, or Natural, or Mutant even if you can "unlock your inner power" with any of those. I'm more in favour of Incarnates not being of the five Origins simply to avoid elitism. It's why Statesman isn't a Tanker, for example.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's because they were originally called New Yorkers, Vigianians, Georgians, etc... -
Happy belated B-Day Jack.

/em drool - I, so, can't wait for CoV to go into Beta

One of the first rules of game design is that when realism conflicts with fun, fun wins.
The goal of base raiding is to make it an event, something both sides can look forward to, strategize for, and participate in. Unannounced raids might be "realistic" (and I use quotes here because we are talking about a comic book) but they sure aren't much fun for the defenders. If I have to be on line all the time, am forced to bail missions because I have to go defend my base, or find someone trashed our base at 11 AM just because my SG has to deal with real-life things like jobs and work, well that is not fun.
To be fun, a base raid has to feel exciting -- and fair. That means fair to both sides. That means giving both SG's notice so both groups can organize their members, make arrangements to be online and develop plans. Scheduling will actually strengthen SG's -- it gives them more purpose, more "We need to be online at this time."
We are also looking at some other options for "instant raids" for pick up play, but again finding ways to keep things from being a no-fun grief fest.

From those of us with jobs: thank you! -
My favorite was by MacAllen (who got banned and became MacDaddy) about how all Scrapper sets should be more like Martial Arts (the old MA mind you) and if the Devs didn't do it then CoH was dooomed because a whole AT was useless.
Hehe... I remember his rant on Spines and how useless they were. -
I think this is the sadest thing I've ever read on these boards.
You'll be missed Vyv. Take care and come back to chat once in a while, won't you? -

Heya Manticore. Welcome back
How was E3?
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks!
It was a wonderful madhouse.
Everyone seemed to really have a blast with the Base Raiding and Base Building.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm... Sims with toxic damage and body armor. Sounds like fun the whole family can enjoy! -
Damn. Why are we in CA always so late in getting the comic. I wanna see it too.
Well, the demo digital files they showed us looked great and story seemed better. Here's hoping. -

That is a killer video!
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. However, the Dev post here will most likely create a /. ("slashdot") effect and bring that poor server to its knees. Glad I got in early. -
18/21 - suprising for somebody who never read comics.

Oooh... You guys have any openings? Perhaps one of those entry level positions. I am an artist, but I can't meet the "industry standard" thing. Sort of ran out of money for college before I reached that point.
To bad my mom still doesn't realize we can't afford college anymore. I will have to convince her first then see if I have any real skills I can use for a halfway decent job. I am sort of only good at art.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds like me... Well I never had any money to go to college with and have been learning all this time. My Reccomendation is to learn to be a Texture Artist, that's what I plan to do since I'd rather color than "Pencil and Ink". Plus seems like the easiest Entry level position. Though for Cryptic, I used to check their homepage (which is different than NCSoft's) and I never saw anything for Artists. Infact given what they've said about new costumes, it sounds like they either get all the Artwork done at NCSoft Headquarters by a larger Art Studio that does all their work for All their games from Lineage to Guildwars and everything in between. ...Either that or they farm it out to China, Singapoore, Japan, whatever to get it on the Cheap...which would be Outsourcing and we know that would be very very naughty of them even if more than half of their market is in Asia. ...So I don't believe there's anyway to work exclusively for Cryptic as an Artist, they only seem to have in-house Coders, Designers, Writers, LevelDesigners, and QA. Everything else from Sound to Legal Dept. seems to be done by NCSoft itself.
[/ QUOTE ]
AFAIK Crypic does all in house art. In fact, I'm pretty sure I know one of the guys doing texture art for them. Lost his cell number though... damn.

I'm sure Manticore would be the man to PM this to, but before that I'll put it out here.
Whats the best way to break into the writing thing? I love to come up with stories. I'm writing a novel, I write D&D adventures that could be computer games they're so detailed, and everyday I just seem to come up with more and more ideas.
I would love to have Manticore's job, but how does one get to that level? Where do you start at in a company? Or do I just hope that I can get my book published and become famous enough that you guys will beg me to come write for you? heh.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can I suggest that you make copies of your writtings (games) seal a copy into two seperate packages. Mail the first to youself and never open it. Mail the second to NCsoft (or other developer along with some contact information.
Now, why did you main one set to youself? Because companies aren't always ethical (not saying NCsoft isn't) and if they use your ideas without permission you'll have proof to litigate with.
Get it out there. Get started, and just try. Expect 99 failures for every one success, but it's only 99 stamps. :-) -

Besides, the two Kheldian ATs take Natural and Science enhancements. If they stick to formula, the new ATs might draw from the remaining Magic, Technology, and Mutant origins. "Incarnate" sounds pretty Magical to me, and I remember back in alpha testing when States was described as having that origin.
[/ QUOTE ]
Statesman is of Natural Origin, but so is God. Go ask at church. -

Wonderful. Except that I *finally* received #11 and #12 about a day apart last week, and *still* haven't seen the new comic.
You guys need to change your distributor, he's clearly not up to snuff.
[/ QUOTE ]
The same thing happend to me. The new comic has a new distributor (Diamond, workin' with the big boys now ) . Hopefully, that will fix the situation...hopefully.
[/ QUOTE ]
Make that 3 of us. Bleh... thank god Blue King isn't what they're sending us anymore. I just couldn't stand any more camp. -
[ QUOTE ]
well Chronos was a God, equivilant to Saturn to the romans. Who's form has evolved to somewhat of a Grim Reaper, the ultimate evil. The keeper of time, destiny and death. I could be wrong though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Chonos wasn't a god, he was a Titan. Immortal beings cast down by the god for, um... eating them.
Chronos is the father of Zues, Haydes, and Posidan (sp?) and some other minor gods like Hera. Ew... Zues married his sister.
Chronos was never killed, he fled in battle versus the gods who allied with the slaves of the Titans. -
Or an immortal hero?
[ QUOTE ]
Theseus -
The son of King Aegeus of Athens and a quintessential Athenian hero. Theseus is the model citizen: a kind leader, good to his friends and countrymen. Theseus does have his shortcomings, however: he abandons Ariadne, and later doubts his own son, which leads to his tragic demise.

I'm thinking Theseus, the model citizen and hero. -

Zeus' Lightning?
How'd States get a hold of that? Cole ventured "to the far east" and "unlocked his inner will" IIRC.
Which is it Manticore?
[/ QUOTE ]
If you are quoting the website the paragraph actually reads:
Cole claimed to have unlocked the power of his own Inner Will, an obscure explanation at best. Whatever their true origin, it was undeniable that Cole possessed something that hadn't been seen since the age of the Greek Heroes: superpowers.
Note the word *claimed*
Statesman was clearly obfuscating there. As time has passed and he has shown no signs of aging, more questions are being asked. Issue 2 of the comic will give more details about Statesman and Issue 3 will bring the loathesome Lord Recluse's connection into sharp focus.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lets face it. Statesman is a Greek god. Jack Emmert is a hugh classics fan (speaks Greek to boot) and Statesman is very "god like". So, if Statesman is a Greek God or Titan, what does that make Recluse? Is Recluse Chronos? -
Very cool! Thanks Cuppa, you're the man! er.. um.. woman!

Synapse: Why is everyone looking at me? Oh I get it. Send the blaster right? I'm just going to die anyway so why not?
[/ QUOTE ]
I have noticed a disparity, I think, between game and comic.
In the new Mark Waid CoH comic, Synapse is a MA/SR scrapper.
In the game, he's an elec/elec blaster?
So which is right?
[/ QUOTE ]
Both. He's a Superspeeding, MA/Elec/SR/Elec DevAT :gin: -
