I think a Shade could give Snappy a good seeing too, if he'd kept a constant dual-pets up, sunk a couple of reds and Dwarfed him. Wouldnt even need Eclipse, but obviously if you get a nice one, itd be even easier to hop in Nova and give him a slap.
Might give this a try tonight and report back -
[ QUOTE ]
Does the Nova power get higher damage - or another bonus to compensate for that? I don't know
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, the "bonus" that Nova gets is the KB you mentioned earlier. It makes the nuke a lot safer to use than Inferno.
[ QUOTE ]
hit BU+AIM and WHAM!
[/ QUOTE ]
As you're Nrg secondary, remember to fire Power Boost (if you have it) before Aim and BU, it'll put your ToHit through the roof, and justify your slotting. -
Nice one Stand! Always enjoyed teaming with that toon.
I vote for Shadey to be levelled next!
*must avoid SkyOne telling me that "Standoff" is a must-see!* -
Well Traps would certainly have some synergy with Bots.
With Caltrops to keep enemies at bay as Bots are pure Range, and Forcefield Generator to stack with the Bubbles.
And AFAIK the Bots will carry Detonator rather than throwing it off in fear.
I've been thinking of rolling Bots/Traps and might've just convinced myself -
[ QUOTE ]
How does that work? poison is -damage, not -damage resistance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed, debuffing the mobs DmgRes first with Acid and Disruption, will increase the -dmg that Poison debuffs.
As the -dmgres's will also be debuffing the resistance to damage debuffs.
If you follow -
Dont forget that using Poison Gas Arrow after Acid and Disruption will make it a lot more powerful...
(as -dmgRes is the same as -dmg debuff Res).
And imo its got a sexy animation too
*waits for Miss Marv* -
Id actually be up for testing this. As Im guessing a Shade at his damage cap would out-nuke a Blaster counterpart using just Aim and BU, but with the AT modifiers, and different caps, its sometimes hard to assume.
Id be happy to use my 41 WS and 50 Nrg Blaster. -
Mmmmm nuke.
But id pigeon-hole Blizzard in with Full Auto and Rain of Arrows rather than Nova, Inferno, Thunderous Blast and Wail.
Even though its the most damaging "nuke" its DoT-ness makes it more pigeon-hole A imo.
All equally delicious in their own way though.
disclaimer - pigeonholes ignore self-Endurance draining properties -
(nb : consider all this as PvE advice) I think once your mate hits 24, he'll be laughing. Double stacked Maneouvers from the Enforcers (afaik 7% unslotted, but slottable!), and Forcefield generator. He could even get Maneouvers himself from Leadership to triple stack it.
Id recommend Caltrops too, as the Thugs really dont want to be in melee until the Bruiser at 26 (and anyone could be fooled that he likes it ) so setting your gang behind a nicely placed Caltrops will help a lot.
Good Luck to him -
[ QUOTE ]
Imo, best secondary for both ranged OR melee blaster is energy..
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought that too, (mainly becuase I had a 50 Nrg/Nrg) but then I rolled an Arch/Elec, and must say, */Elec seriously kicks bottom.
If I was going to roll a Blapper now, i'd pick Elec over Nrg. -
[ QUOTE ]
I didn't take any shields.
...unless you count Light Form or Dwarfie...
No, not even the S/L one.
Peacebringers get more clickyheals than a regen scrapper, you really don't need shields.
[/ QUOTE ]
My apologies for false assumptions, my personal PB playing knowledge is limited to my little level 9
[ QUOTE ]
Now if I was going tri-form, I'd want to keep my powers slotted exactly the same as they are at the moment (since I wouldn't want to be less effective at blapping or tanking) plus slot all my Nova form blasts for damage, accuracy and recharge/endred. That's a fair few more slots!
[/ QUOTE ]
I have no doubt that a tri-form PB would indeed need a terrible amount of slots to avoid being Jack-of-All, master of none. Shades don't get this problem really, as the Human form may aswell fling a wet paper tissue at enemies for damage (outside Unchain and Quasar), and the Buffs it gets instead need a few less slots.
[ QUOTE ]
For the "boss thing" I was really thinking about Voids and Quantum bosses, which can one-shot you and don't die very fast. I've juggled a few quantum bosses on my PB, but never managed to solo a void boss. LTs are easy since I can mez them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, I see, well tbh, I dont think any technique would help against these, usually I'd pop 2 purples, try to get a nice Eclipse...........then press /bind u "say Zomg $target, squish it before it kicks the Shnyet out of me!!" and run around in circles flailing my arms about it a slappy motion.
The mez plan would fall down because I couldnt deal enough damage to take it down and wouldnt trust my pets to deal enough damage to take it down before I fell asleep.
I do have my own plan for these cheeky chaps, but it involves stacking my Presence Pool, and has to be seen to be believed unfortunately.
And hence this discussion is the beauty of Kheldians. Completely different builds, completely different experiences, completely different fun.
Sounds like we'll have to get our toons together at some point matey, they sound like they'd be quite the duo. -
[ QUOTE ]
Must be one of those "different playstyles moments"...
[/ QUOTE ]
Hehe, I guess so mate, seeing as though....
[ QUOTE ]
Surely by the nature of going "Tri Form" you'll need more slots to attain peak effectiveness than going bi-form.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure you've slotted all your shields for 3xDmgres, 1xEndred on your PB?
A tri-form Shade wouldnt, saving a good load of slots..
The point of tri-form Shade is Human to buff, Nova to Blast, Dwarf to Tank/take damage.
[ QUOTE ]
Now granted that much of a Tri-form Warshades' damage and effectiveness is from Double-Mire and Eclipse, then switching to Nova Form to AoE blast... but if you had the option to expand your abilities (say by perma-mezzing bosses through stacking your Human-form PBAoE disorient with your Disorient Cone attack) wouldn't that be improving your performance too?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well not particularly, as if im stood around in Human form, chucking out Gravitic Emanation and Inky Aspect, I'm not doing damage. In the instances that could require that tactic, I'd much rather either a) pop into Dwarf and Tank with my (already 6 slotted) Antagonise, or b) pop on Eclipse, double Mire, and hold more aggro in Nova.
[ QUOTE ]
I've a Tri-form Warshade planned in hero builder. I've tweaked it and tweaked it, but i'll be an Iconites' uncle if I can find a spare slot there at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lets see if I an help
[ QUOTE ]
And it could still use Endmods in Dwarf,
[/ QUOTE ]
Just put a single Endred on the two melee's rather than slotting Dwarf, the end return is a lot better.
[ QUOTE ]
heals and an endred in stygian circle
[/ QUOTE ]
IIRC 3 even level minions will fill your health bar, whereas you'll need at least 2 endmods to full fill your Stamina off it. Endred on the other hand IS a good idea, the amount of times I've dropped from Nova and missed a SC because i didnt have enough to cast it
[ QUOTE ]
slots in stamina
[/ QUOTE ]
Ouch, Stamina on a tri-form? Really?
[ QUOTE ]
recharges in quasar
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup, nice if you can find them, I've got Hasten and 1xRecred.
[ QUOTE ]
damages in dwarf attacks
[/ QUOTE ]
Also worthwhile, time and again you'll get stuck in Dwarf, unable to find a safe time to Nova (mezz'in enemies). Id put this towards the top of you priorities tbh. It's never going to do a tonne of damage but enough to take out the pesky lieut or forcefield generator (especially double mired)
[ QUOTE ]
and taunt durations in antagonise.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately also high on the agenda, that Taunt doesnt stick for very long........and with a WS being one of the 2 sets that can safely Tank Psi enemies, it's handy to have it.
[ QUOTE ]
And the single target Nova Form blasts aren't slotted for damage either.
[/ QUOTE ]
Quite understandable, if you've got Emanation and Detonation slotted well for recharges and run Hasten, you'll only be using ST blasts for bosses, and your Dwarf can do that.
[ QUOTE ]
I'd quite happily use another 15-18 slots on that toon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Tbh if I had 15-18 extra slots, Id put good money on all of them being Recred or Endred, and a 6 slotted TP -
[ QUOTE ]
By that argument you don't need *any* slots since you always have the same powers available, even if their effectiveness is sub-par because they aren't enhanced.
[/ QUOTE ]
I just mean that having Quasar slotted 3xDmg 2xAcc isn't going to be different from having it just 3xDmg due to a double Mire.
So by me saying "slotting finished" I meant they're at the optimum slotting that I need to perform, and that additional slots wouldnt improve my performance by VAST amounts.
[ QUOTE ]
My Bi-Form Peacebringer hasn't any slots left at 50.
Heck he could use at least 6 more enhancement slots to make him hit "peak effectiveness", and at least two more power picks. I dread to think what things would be like if I had've taken Nova form too...
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
The general consensus is that slots are more available to a tri-form WS than for example a human form PB.
[/ QUOTE ]
An entirely different beast sir -
Well actually, you really, really will.......
Most Shades build as Tri-formers (as Doubles guide was about) and hence only really need to slot the powers which cross-forms, and deal the most damage.
The general consensus is that slots are more available to a tri-form WS than for example a human form PB.
By "endgame" (I read 35+) we're picking up 3 slots per "slot level", and have 10 of those in that stretch.
Thats 30 slots to play with.
Seeing as though we don't have EPIC's, we'll only be going back over our builds to pickup the powers not good enough to cut into our build in the first place, and in my experience, these powers don't usually require much slotting (default slot of Recharge in Self-rez for example).
My Shade is 41 and my slots were pretty much finished 5 levels ago.
Sure these extra slots are going to help, as all slots do, but they're in no way "needed".
Obviously YMMV, and yes pre-30 Shades are pretty slot tight, just hold out for those 3-slot levels -
Add the auto-hit slow of Glue Arrow to that bag of tricks and you're laughin....
-
Everything looks great, but im trying for the life of me to find 3 more slots for Charged Brawl to get 3xDmg in there. Maybe one from Fly (IIRC, 2 in fly and one in swift is about flight cap), one from swift and one from Rain.
Rain doesnt really need Acc from my experience. Certainly not 2. Mine's slotted 3xDmg, 1xAcc, 2xRech. I tend to only use it with Aim and Buildup and its got an inherently high Acc of its own i think.
My Arch/Elec is 35 and is a joy to play. Great AoE from the primary and great ST from the secondary. I run without stamina, as Arch is pretty End light, and a bit of Endred slotting on the heavy secondary powers keep me ticking over. Havent played him much since getting Power Sink, but the little i have tried pretty much tell me any End troubles i had were over.
Good Luck. -
Welcome back GA.
If you're 23, dont forget to get over to the new Faultline. I believe the arcs are 25+ and considered very worthwile.
Good Luck! -

By far my favourite blaster was ice/fire...
[/ QUOTE ]
Curse you past tense!
Come back to us Kron', its cold, and there are wolves after me!
*sob*
edit : but more on-topic, I've played an Elec/Fire to 25, and I must say, its the highest damage PvE toon I've ever had. Thats 95% due to */Fire.
You just have to have no illusions of what you'll be doing. Its not a set for a ranged blaster, and not a set for the faint hearted. Its about standing next to the Tank and pretty much being his Damage Aura. An Aura that'll destroy everything in under 5 seconds, i kid you not.
Aim, BU, ball lightning, combustion, FSC, added onto what Blazing Aura is kicking out is pretty scary. And i still have Hotfeet, VS, burn and consume to get.... -
[ QUOTE ]
If I could only get a fire/fire blaster and an empath to team with my warshade. Then I had only to convince the empath that the blaster doesn´t need healing...
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed, curse those Fire/Regen Blasters...
<.<

I duo with a Fire/Fire Blaster on mine.....Vengeance and Eclipse is the real Novaform godmode

Build looks fine from first glance. Just a lil tip really.
As you rightly deduced, Stalagmites is a fine opener. Quick animation, quick reaction. It can however be outdone by the other powers in Earth.
Earthquake, VG and Quicksand are all quite long animations (particularly Quake), but are also all Location Based AoE's. Hence you dont need a LoS (line of sight) to cast them.
So you can lockdown a mob behind the safety of a wall/cardboard box/bus stop/convenient rock.
Most handy, and suprisingly doable 95% of the time. Learn to use terrain, it'll save your bacon!
(my Earth/TA can even add Disruption Arrow and Oil Slick Arrow to that mix to really tear it up from safety )
Good Luck! -
Ok, my turn
Id drop Power Bolt, with all your other powers you've got a full chain, and the upcoming range increase of Burst, its really a poor power imo.
Take Hasten at 6, and Power Boost instead at 26. Powerboost would double duration of the disorient in your melee's and increase KB distance, and if you follow Standoff's advice, itd double the heal of the medicine pool, and double your run/fly speed.
Pretty much meaning this power will save you a ton of slots, as you wont need to slot as much for runspeed/stun duration/kb distance etc etc.
It'll double the ToHit buffs from BU and Aim aswell, meaning only a mathematical gift of the gods would mean you miss more than one person with your Nova.
Leading me nicely to slotting. As Stand said, definately get 3xDmg in Nova, and with Aim&BU, you could slot 3xRech.
I could write a whole paragraph on the usefulness of Power Push (from the primary, ST kb.). Its a beauty of a power, maybe try it on Test.
I run my Nrg/Nrg without Stamina, but i agree its not for everyone. Those 3 extra powers ARE fun though
Good Luck. -
Sounds about right then if they're after the "equality across the AT" regime.
-
What level is he? It'll effect what suggestions i give quite a lot.
Also, does he want a team build, solo build, PvE, PvP? -
Aye, I think we all knew it was coming at some stage.
What are the ranges of Focus and Shockwave from Claws?
