I would suggest Super strength, but thats just me, I have a stone/fire tanker and the damage is meager at best, but with rage it'll help bring up the damage loss you have with granite on, you just gotta make sure you slot with alot of recharge in your build and make sure you grab hasten, thats a must.
  2. This is not quite relative to my original question, but I find that OG is the much better take, other than time when your facing Nems, or Cim's or any group with some sort of leadership powers. But I have been working on my build for my Dark/dark and id love to keep my current powers, but im having trouble slotting for positional defenses without losing all my damage in my powers, any advice how to reslot?

    If powers needed to be changed for the better of the build, just shoot, Im getting better at doing builds, but still not the best thats for sure.

    That is why i said am i thinking too simple... and it seems at the moment that Oppressive is taking charge over cloak and seems to hit more often, i see more stunned than feared, and i can see how you would put magnitudes over each other.. im pretty end heavy at the moment, but cloak also has -acc, so I don't know... I just have never played dark melee or dark armor before, ijust heard it was end heavy and an extreme challenge.
  4. It there any reason to get both of them? Since they are both mag 2 stuns/fears they will only stun/fear Mins, so if you stun them with OG, then the fear is useless, and if you fear them, the stun is useless? Or I am thinking too simple? Im leveling a 26 Dark/dark Tanker at the moment, i love every second of play, have slotted for end, and he play wells, just not much damage at the moment.

  6. So I made a Dual Blades/Fire Shield awhile ago, I have made a build, have several people look at, they like it, and i like it, but im not too sure.

    I've been playing brutes/tankers/scrappers my entire COH career and they make up most of toons, I love just bashing things in the head up close, no wimpy blasting away from range. But I've also been the one to be different than everyone else and always have a different build, and prove you don't have to be a Elec/SD Scrapper or SS/Fire Brute to be able to be an able body melee farmer. So I tried this out, and Dual blades is great! The cones are awesome for damage, I dont really mess with combos too much, and im Mostly a farmer/AV team person on this toon, so I saw no need to grab a travel power with ninja run. I got my S/L defense up to 45%, and got my fire/s/l res above 45% as well, not too hard with fire res, but just stating. For some reason though, I feel like its not as good as it should be though, Any Advice on how to improve? I have everything on this build already slotted on my toon, so i dont know howd it take it off to sell it, but any advice how to make it better or how to sell massive amounts of enhances off a toon to make room for others?

  7. And, ive also looked into making a Corr Sonic/rad, because i looked at another post earlier and was alarmed at HOW LOW defenders damage really is... But, i still wish to have him as good debuffer, because defenders still have a debuffing ability than corrs correct?

    So First off, I dropped Fallout, I feel like soul Drain might be more worth it on this toon, but im not toally convinced of that yet, I moved some slots around, took some out of irradiate, put some in enervating field, got three in lingering radiation, two in hasten, swapped basilisks gaze for neurotic shutdown, got 2 Hos in tactics and in RI... looks like an improvement.

    As for the last question, that's really a question of playstyle. I personally prefer to be a debuffing machine even if it means I solo a little slower, because I enjoy being a very potent debuffer when I get on teams. Due to the nature of buffs and debuffs in this game, a debuffer has a force multiplier effect while a damage dealer has an additive effect. You contribute more, in other words, by going the debuff route. I have a more blaster-ish build as my alternate for when I solo, which is somewhat rare on that character now that he's got all his Ouro badges (came in very handy there though).

    As for choice of Epics, there's a lot of choices now that you can go Rogue and get the villain ones, so it really depends on what you're going for. I like Power Mastery for two reasons - Force of Nature allows me to pretty much be a Tanker for a short while, which has been pivotal for me more than once, and Power Boost is a very handy thing to have in your toolbox. I took Power Mastery mostly for Power Boost. Power Boost allows me to do some impressive things: first off, my Rad/Rad has full Leadership (Tactics helps Choking Cloud hit), so Power Boost+Vengeance is a very powerful buff and can often prevent a teamwipe. Also, Power Boost combines very well with EM Pulse. If you hit Vanguard Medal (an Accolade that boosts holds), Power Boost and then EM Pulse, you have a very potent 'pause button' that will hold pretty much everything in a wide radius around you. This is great if some one aggros an extra mob or two onto the team.

    So that's why I like Power Mastery, but it's far from the only valid option. I have Dark Mastery on the solo build I mentioned, for pretty much the exact reasons you mentioned above. Soul Drain works nicely on that build, and if I die I can resurrect myself and hit everything around with a Mag 30 Stun, gotta love that.
    I see why you chose Power Mastery for sure! I actually must have overlooked that ability under Power Mastery, Ive never really played a Troller/fender either I tend to play mostly Melee toons, all 10 of my 50s at the moment are all Brutes/Tankers/Scrappers excluding my Earth/Thermal Troller which i never play.. I love to dish out the damage in Close range.

    Id like to also say, I dont enjoy having two builds, I dont like expending time on buying the enhances for both....Unless Im unaware of this and you can trade enhancements inbetween (because ive never made a second build before and really messed with it), but besides that point, Id prefer a build thats applicable for mostly partying, which i enjoy, I solo on rare occasions.

    Now I have one final question and ill start to make my final build. Since I have never IO'ed a troller/fender FULLY out, what should i slot my totals for? Im used to have to slotting for s/l def or melee/ranged/aoe def, but what should I go for when im slotting? Like acc or to hit buffs or something?

This is EXTREMELY helpful, I have looked at other places on the forums and havent found much on Rad/rad defenders, Im just wondering though, how should i directly slot my secondary attacks and primary debuffs? Should I slot for Def debuffs in my attacks or go for damage? And in my debuffs should I slot for tohit debuffs or def debuffs? This is all from a leveling perspective, Not when i Fully IO out my character when I hit 47.

    I also heard that being an Up close debuffing defender requires you to pick up tough and weave if possible... Is it necessary? Also, what epic should i think about grabbing If i do? I was thinking dark for the possibility of getting soul drain to buff up my attacks, but im not sure whether i should be damage focused on this build, virtually what i'm asking is should i be a debuffing machine that kills very quickly, virtually a blaster with debuffs?
  12. I have made a rad/rad Defender and It seems fun, and Ive heard they are great at debuffing, and i enjoying seeing things drop quickly and always being wanted as a toon in general so i decided to roll my first rad ever, any leveling advice as to which powers to pick and not to pick?

    Hm, Ill be honest I didn't look at that i Thought power sink was stamina in my mind for some reason. My Mistake. But this is what i crunched out on your toon. I gave You one more attack impale and moved some slots around to accompany your new power because I see stealth as a waste consdiering your going to be soloing alot, no reason for the extra 4% in all def when I can slot it with sets, and you don't need less threat either. The Force feedback chance for recharge is such an iffy enhancement to pick up because you will have a one of 1/10 chance when you hit someone with ripper that youll get a rec boost. Youll have to tell me what you think of your build overall, with the changes I made, I gave ya a bit more Defense overall, and moved some slots around. I think the change is for the better with keeping your def decent across the board.

    I have money, but not the kind needed to purple out this build, nor do I have the desire to do such. It will be expensive enough as is. BTW, I left out fitness pool since it will be auto. I am hoping that one slotting a regenative tissue %regen and Performance shifter %recov will be enough. I assume that with the electric armor set, recovering stamina should be no problem, and my regen will already be pretty high. So keeping my fingers crossed. If not, I'll have to rob a slot here and there to compensate.

    From what I can see, this would deal good multiple target dmg and hopefully be able to take some punishment even if small purples are used to supliment.

    I put this together at work and haven't really studied this as hard as I usually do. However, I wanted to get some feedback from the experts Please outline shockingly stupid mistakes as well as any small ones. Or any advice you may want to add. Again, I solo alot and farm. Keep that in mind.
    Just one simple question to start out, do you plan to be farming mostly Energy based things? Or do you want to be survivable against EVERYTHING? Its useful to know what a person plans on doing most of the time.... Ive changed your build a bit on my side but i want your input before i make any dramatic changes if need be, I have rolled an Elec Armor brute before and many Spines scrappers but not this build, i'm sure i can give helpful advice... I just noticed as well, yyour end usage is higher than your end recovery.. your gonna need to fix THAT if you wanna solo for sure.

    Some points from looking at your build:

    Don't use KM sets. SD's strength is on positional defense and ideally you want to be softcapped on all positions.

    Max out the defence in deflection, that's far more important than what tiny bit of res you get out of it.

    Max out your +hp in true grit, again that's more important than the tiny res in there.

    I would use 5 Scirocco's instead of Obs in dragon's tail, due to the end burn.

    You want near max rech on BU, so you can fire it off whenever SC is up.
    Edit: or throw in a full Gaus set as its perfect for capping pos. defence.

    I'm not sure if it's really worth slotting eye beams with Apoc's, I know that my scrap has her chain filled with just 4 MA attacks.
    Yeah i just threw out LBE and put in Phalanx fighting for the Moment... but I'm sure not sure what you mean KM i think Kinetic Combats? What do you suggest i Slot in place of them?

    Alright so i slotted a build, I want to go for a softcapped scrapper that can dish out alot of good single target damage, I didn't go into PVP IOs yet, I didn't know whther this build could be good at pvp or not. But this is a relatively cheap build other than the 3 apocs in LBE. I feel like this build is decent, but could use some work. I'm not one that likes to pick up grant cover, just seems like a waste, even though people do say it helps with raising your resistance to def debuffs. I also didnt pick phalanx fightning, just seems not worth it, unless someone tells me its really needed. I team a decent amount, but only seems applicable if you are on a team of mostly melee toons... ADVICE!

  23. Thanks for all this input guys, its great.. ill change my build more so when I19 version of mids comes out.
  24. So I made a Martial arts/ Shield defense in hoping for a a different scrapper other than the generic Elec/SD scrapper. I was hoping that it could do something substantial with the buff on cobra strike, and it hasn't seemed to really kick in yet. I'm level 45 and im not familiar with either Martial arts or shield defense.
