Quote:Well, then, I'm genuinely surprised that we don't get regular posts of doom from players complaining about this.I'm telling you, I have a screenie I need to upload that had that precise configuration of Fake Nemesis spawns, taken only a few days after Issue 10 went live.
When the all-lieutenant bug was happening, there were regular posts about it.
It could be an intermittent bug. Or a one-time bug that has resurfaced. -
Quote:Happened to me, too. Read about my travails above. Need to request an IP unlock on your computer. It's a solution we shouldn't have to deal with, but, I'm sure that will work.once I finally got customer support to believe I wasn't a criminal they sent me that link to change my password and security questions but of of course as soon as I do then log out and back in to test it I get the error messages and no matter how carefully I fill out the CAPTCHA form (I know I had the answers to the security questions right!). Feeling suicidal I went ahead and tried it five times but failed each time and got locked out of my account yet again.
-
I've never seen or heard about such large FN spawns until now, and that's going all the way back to Closed Beta for Invasion.
I'm sure it's a bug in the way Nems are spawned in general, and a recent one at that. -
Like the times we see maps spawned with nothing but Lieutenants... that's a bug. It may be a one-time bug, a bugged-map bug, or a patch-that-causes-that-spawn-in-multiple-places bug.

Quote:UPDATE:
I received by email a link that allowed me to reset my Main Account Password and give the answers to two new challenge questions. I then had access to my account.
Then I tested it: I logged out. Put in my account name and the new password and got this error message:You cannot login to this account from your current location at this time. If you believe this to be in error, please contact Customer Support.
I tried clearing all NCSoft cookies... nope.
I clicked on 'forgot password' and then correctly answered the two challenge questions and a Captcha to get an email with a new password. I cut and paste that password into the login screen... nope.
I believe that when the system locked my IP out for too many attempts previously, that that lock out still continues. I sent support another email about this. We'll see.
And Mods: My feedback on this remains the same.
UPDATE:
They cleared the IP block and I was able to log in and out and in again to my Master Account.
So... with all the trouble I had... I WAS RIGHT.
I did not put in any bad information. The old make-up-your-own-challenge-and-answer was borked. Attempting to find the 'right' answer, which I knew all the time (how many ways are there to type in "Boots", the name of my friend's dog) locked my IP address. All subsequent fixes didn't work, because they didn't clear that lock.
While the Support Staff was helpful (aside from the veiled threat that helping me in this case was an 'exception') they were also wrong in going about helping me. My emails to them made it clear I was locked out from trying to get in. That's an IP lock. And none of them in helping me recognized that or cleared the lock until I told them to do so. They should have known. Or, to give them the benefit of the doubt, the reset links they sent me should have automatically removed any IP locks -- which may be a more likely scenario since we have seen a huge FAIL in the coding of the website.
Incompetence. Incompetence. Incompetence.
It's time for me to start trashing NCSoft's reputation on all the game sites until they issue a public apology (not specifically to me... to all their customers) and roll back these measures. -
Ummm... most redside GMs can be spawned by player action. This theoretically gives redsiders *a lot* more chances for Merits from GMs than bluesiders.
And while the Ghost of Scrapyard is not player-generated, he spawns so often, that they'll be thirty of him for each Paladin that spawns.
And speaking of Paladin. Since the badge is for stopping his construction, theoretically, that lowers his spawn rate. Also, if a Paladin is not killed, a new one won't spawn, and he doesn't unspawn on his own except for server resets. So, if you log on and watch your event channel for "Unusual activity in Kings Row", and there are already 3 Paladins hanging around, you'll never see an advert for him.
Generally, redsiders do very well for possible GM Merit. -
Quote:UPDATE:UPDATE:
I was asked to provide these:-- What first and last name did you use when you created the account?
The only one I didn't have was the original Unique Account ID because, you know, SEVEN YEAR OLD EMAILS.
-- What physical address did you use when you created the account?
-- What date of birth did you use when you created the account?
-- What are the 20-digit serial codes for all games you added to the account?
-- What is the Unique Account ID for all the game accounts you added to the account? (This was sent to you via e-mail on the date your game account was activated with a subject header of 'Game Account Activated'.)
-- Original billing information: If activated using a credit/debit card, please provide the last 4 digits of the credit card used ONLY. If activated using a game time card, please provide the 20-digit game time card code used to activate the account. If activated using PayPal®, please provide the Transaction ID or the Invoice ID associated with the original activation purchase.
I gave them 10 serial codes for my two accounts. There's more, but, I figured that should be enough.
I get the email back:At this time, we would like to assist you with logging into this account as an exception. For future inquiries, you may be required to provide additional information to verify ownership of this account.
Thanks? As an exception? Is that a veiled threat you won't help me again unless I pony up everything you asked for?
So, they cleared the passphrase question.
I go to my Main Account. The challenge page has just Date of Birth and the Captcha.
And I keep being told I have the wrong information.

I think I know my DoB. I've entered it into my Master Account at least 50 times with all the purchases I've made.
Well, I sent another email back saying I still can't get in. We'll see what happens.
BTW: All the information they asked for to verify who I am could be found in a hacked email account. If they're only going to verify ID based on access to an email account, they could have done what is the industry standard: sent a new password to my email account.
Tell you what, let me use my credit card information to 'buy' access to my account for $0.00. Then you'll know it's me. At least my credit card company can remember what my date of birth is.
Dear Mods: Can you please pass on my feedback to the people who made these changes: "Sheer idiocy and gross incompetence."

Back when buff pets had aggressive AI, it was funny to watch mine charge a Cimeroran Boss and 'tank' him. Various buffs and debuffs kept it alive for awhile.

Quote:Well... as a sphere, it's as tall as it is wide. How big is the sphere? How high does the flying toon have to be to not get people below killed?

You see how wide it is by the size of the blue 'cracks' in the earth. Half that is the radius of the sphere. So, the effect is radius length high above you (if you stayed still and were at the center of the effect) and radius length below you.
So, even if the sphere was as large as 40 ft (as big as Steamy Mist's sphere of influence), then it would only extend 20 ft below you. If you hovered at 40 feet (a typical short range of many cone effects, e.g.), that give players on the ground 20 feet clearance of no effect.
Seriously, if any 'flyers' are flying and hovering with their feet grazing the heads of the foes below, then they're doin' it wrong. Just move to the distance of your shortest ranged attack and it will be fine. -
Quote:Check this out.Launcher "works" but after selecting "Play" it brings-up a "Just-In-Time Debugger" that has to be dismissed twice before it launches City of Heroes.
After that, all seems well.
What bothers me is that...well...outside of hacked-together Access scripting, I've never seen a user dropped into a debugger. I mean seriously, a good programmer should have trapped for that.
This on XP/SP3, and just checked, have all the latest patches. -
Quote:Kudos! Excellent! Wait... how many kudos in a quatloo?Yep, was what I was gonna try when I had the time and patience to dig up the real object url - knew it was findable, just didn't remember how off-hand.
Stand by.
edit: Obviously worked - much thanks to Gangrel and Z-Man.
Would any of that have been so difficult for "support" to tell me?.. Oh well... You guys get the kudos, not them. -
The "patch" is a sphere. It is not columnar.
You can get hurt being under one if it's too close to the ground. But you can easily get to the limit of your blast powers and leave lots of room for others to run underneath them. I've never had someone on the ground get hurt for being under the BRoD that spawned in my flight path.
The "do not fly" rule is unduly removing a excellent survival mechanism for squishies who would melt under Sword bosses. Swords have no ranged attack. The ranged attacks of the Champions have no mez. Flying is a huge benefit to ranged ATs. And if they get hit by a BRoD, the -fly drops them out of it to safety! -
Quote:This is my experience, too. I know I answered the challenge question correctly. After about 5 tries, it locked my account.
When I tried to use the 'reset my password' route, that was blocked because... my account is locked. (Never mind that this is the industry standard for verification.)
I've used Support before, so, I have a Support Account already... which has my main email on file. But I can't get into my Support Account because... it has locked my account which is associated with that same email.
It did give me the opportunity to reset my password for my Support Account... and never sent me the email with the new password.
So now, I've created a new Support Account with a different email (really, I need to maintain extra email accounts to deal with Customer Support?) and am waiting to hear from them.
This should be good... the level of utter incompetence displayed so far should provide some continued entertainment.
Though, nothing would be as entertaining as trashing NCSoft's name through the mud in every gaming website in existence if this doesn't get fixed. Great way to appear as stupid as SOE.

Quote:Urf. The NCSoft launcher has, three times, completely and utterly failed to update my CoH beta folder. It found Beta and Test okay, but then started to download the entire installs over again. And again. And again.
Every time my internet connection hiccups, the NC Launcher starts the downloads over again.
I went to bed, having it downloading the Beta, woke up and used the restroom, checked on it to see that the download had only 2 hours left (of the original 14), and went back to bed.
Upon awakening the Beta had NOT been installed, and was about 10 percent of the way through downloading the 4.3ish gigs worth of files. Again.
It doesn't seem to ever want to resume downloads, or retain its progress.
I wonder if your registry for Beta and Test aren't pointing to the same directory. That would cause it to change it to one, then change it back to the other and then back to the other, etc... -

There was a patch note back a while ago saying that missions won't be showing up in the Oportal or the Vanguard Base portal.
It obviously wasn't full implemented, but probably is keeping some missions from show up there. -

Maybe we should move the User Agreement around more often to get people to pay attention to what they are actually accepting and agreeing to...
It pops up entering the third mission of the Lady Grey Task Force.
It pops up when you click on a Train.
It pops up when you click on Brawl. -
While doing multiple Sister Psyches and Apexes for the Assist Badge, I was flabbergasted at all the responses such as, "Can you use a Blaster?" "Is a Widow OK?" etc...
Sheesh. Maybe people think that Apex is like a LRSF, but to be concerned over AT make-up on a Sister Psyche?!
I changed my recruiting calls to add: "... All ATs welcome." -
Yeah, your emote/animation table was corrupted.

...kept repeating it until I got the Partner Badge.

Did I miss the thread when Going Rogue came out about the peer pressure to abandon your 50s and end-game content in order to roll lowbie alts to play in Praetoria and try out the new Power Sets?
