...Wait, what was this thread for again?
  2. Oh, niiiice LJ. I love the amount of clean detail you managed to get in in such a short amount of time.

    Me? Not so clean.
    >.>
    <.<
That is not what I meant!
  3. Well, it is still "pending approval" but I think this may be (a smaller version of) the final product.
  4. >.>
    <.<

    ...WOW am I running behind.
    So sorry, folks.
Anyway, I have this here background rendered out... Now alls I gotsta do is make him Peacebringery. Like, Aura-wise. So, hopefully once I redownload my tablet's drivers (because for some reason the thing has gone a tad wonky, but I've been messing around with my video card a bit, too, so I'm hoping it just needs a refresher) I can pop that aura in there and we can be all set.

    *Crosses fingers*
  5. Fixed the banner link for ya, there.

These forums don't support image posting.
It's always gotta be a link.
  6. CANNONBALL!!!

    >.>
    <.<

...Of course, now I have to draw him.
  7. I heard somewhere that Golden Age superhero costumes were designed with the Medieval Knights' Heraldry color system in mind.

There are seven total "tinctures," including five "colors" (Blue, Red, Green, Black and Purple) and two "metals" (Gold/Yellow and Silver/White).

Any two "colors" can be used together--but not more than two, and only one "metal" can be used with the two "colors."

There were, of course, several exceptions to the Golden Age superhero-with-heraldic-colors system (Captain Marvel being an obvious one) but by and large most of the original costumes followed this formula.
    >.>
    <.<
...Spider-Man is a Silver-Age hero (as is Flash and many others) who sort of follow the code, but with some tweaks (Peter wears the red and blue "colors" but uses black (the spider emblem and the weblines on his costume) as his "metal." I don't think the white eyes count as much as the black outline around the eyes.

    Just my 2inf.
  8. >.>
    <.<

Ok, so I want to do more a background of some sort, but for right this moment I threw on a basic black... Otherwise, I think I've pretty much finished the character coloration, although I'm not ruling out a few tweaks here and there. Also, I need to give him that glowy-eyed aura thingy.

    So... So far so good?
  9. Well, I had a long day at work today, and on top of that it was my brother's birthday, so I didn't get to spend as much time working on this as I would have liked...

However, I did get a little time to shade in the lower body a bit, so, "Progress!" Just, y'know, not much.

Also: long day at work tomorrow, too... But it isn't anyone's birthday, so I should be able to get some time in the evening to get a bit done.
  10. Damn that's hawt!
    *Fans self*
  11. >.>

    Progress!

Of course now it's nearing bedtime, so I may have to wait until tomorrow after I get out of work in order to work on it some more.

Cool.....wait! does that mean we get the blame if he doesn't like it

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Entirely.

Also: Update! Cleaned up a little bit and defined some of the lines a little more... Next step should be shading.

I am still waiting to hear back from Captain Pride, the Costume Contest winner, however, I have a handy screenshot of him in his winning outfit.

I've also made several (very) rough outlines of positions for the picture while waiting.

    That first pose is awesome.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I spoke with our winner.
He asked that I use another character (which is fine, since he won the commission, and not the toon ) so he sent me reference shots of Izik Dragoon.

Now, obviously there are enough similarities between the two characters that I'm completely justified in recycling the poses (and since he said specifically that he had no posing preferences) so I started to flesh out the one both Sov and fuzzywuzzywombat endorsed.

    More work upcoming.

  17. I think the Interview With the Artist section is great, and Scarfy's an excellent choice for the first interview.

I also like that one of her pieces was featured right next to the article. (Although, as the Featured Artist, adding another, different piece of hers for comparisons would be cool, too. )

My concern, though, is that, in this issue, you had chosen eleven (did I count that right? Eleven?) pieces of art for the "This Week in Art" column, as well as highlighting two contests. Obviously, you wanna advertise as many contests as you can because it makes it more "interactive" and fun for new potential artists, but I think you may want to limit the pictures chosen to about four or five, and possibly describe things about the picture/artist you really like.

Also, I hate to say it, but, with as small as the Art Community is here, it won't be long before you're recycling artists to fill in columns, if you have too many featured pictures per week, and I think some people may get a bit jaded seeing the same styles week in and week out.

My suggestion, basically, is to highlight a few pieces each week, with diverse styles, to keep it "fresh." Just my 2-inf.
  18. I know Ex is not allowed to verify this, but it is strongly my impression that there is a very small number of people repeatedly hitting the "notify mods" button.

If I had to guess, I would probably say that (with a not-miniscule number of exceptions) the majority of reports are being made by fewer than ten people.

I think those people need to refamiliarize themselves with the rules.

If I clearly break a rule, hit Notify.
If I sorta break a rule, wait and see if I do it again, then hit Notify.
If I'm carrying on a discussion with my friends from in-game that happened to spout out of another discussion, well, that is not breaking the rules so do not hit Notify.
If I quote from someone else's post, but did not clear out the three other posts that person had quoted so that the current count of layers on the quote pyramid is now five or higher, hit Notify.
If I start a thread bashing the current political climate of the government, hit Notify.
If my gaiety gets to be too much and I cross the "T for Teen" rating, hit Notify.
...If you do not agree with the opinion I expressed, Step Back and then Move On.

I am currently very angry with the way this is being handled by some people (and not a one of those people is Ex, she's doing a great job trying to get this issue both into the light, and past us).

The only problem here, really, is that a very small number of people (as I see it) are trying to dictate what is acceptable to the vast majority of posters here. They do it in threads by trying to "correct" other people's behaviour, and when that doesn't work they run off and tattle because they aren't getting their own way. They are trying to nitpick and micro-manage to the point where no one is having any fun unless it is on their terms.

I would be shocked if Ex came back and said "No, Aerones. Of all of those reports about modding needed in Protector, less than half of those are from the same group of ten people or less."

I am currently very angry with several of the people here for trying to dictate their own rules on the rest of us.
This is the most mad I have ever been, with anyone, while here for over three years.

I am not a child who needs someone else reading over my shoulder to be sure I don't write "poop" on my homework.
And yet that is the way a small number of people here have been treating both myself and many others.
Those people need to grow up.

    I. Am. Insulted.
And as of now, in this thread, I am done.

I have said my opinion. Repeatedly. The problem is not the content of the threads here. The problem is that a small number of people are not getting their own way while in a larger group, and so they tattle.

    I work with 3-year olds.
    They act more mature.

Btw: How did your "co-artist" do? I'm curious to see her interpretations.

Well as you know Aeronnes she is nine years old and changes her mind quickly. She got bored with what she was drawing and when I walked back in she had done This

I threw it on a background for her.

I think when she gets a bit older she is going to crush me. Like when shes ten

agreed. frankly the more this thread goes on, the more I boggle. Go read some of the server forums and come back.

This is entirely, utterly, inanely ridiculous. This whole 'crisis'.

We don't need a damn thing. Tell the mods to do here what they do in the other forums - ignore the Flags.

  21. GG, I went and did a "bad."

I posted using QR instead of actually replying to one of the posts I was referring to. The problem was that there were several of them to choose from, and I just didn't feel like picking a specific one out, so I simply responded to the thread in general.

You and Lance, while I don't fully agree with what you have said, were making your opinions about the subject known. Other people (more than one, and from a couple of places I didn't expect to see them come from) decided to veil insults to the two of you.

THAT is how the flamefests begin. And if I am not mistaken, it is the flaming that often gets reported to the mods.

Case in point: I don't think Beka was upset with how the "Fact:!" thread was going until someone else decided to say "You guys can't do that in here" and then complained to her when other people didn't follow their suggestions. It was the flaming that resulted from trying to dictate what other people were allowed to post that was upsetting to her, and which caused her to ask for the thread to be closed down.

If I am wrong then so be it. If Beka comes on and says "No, those silly Facts that people were just making up on the spot were what was upsetting me" then I will gladly apologize and move on. However, at no point in any place I have seen did Beka ever comment on the "Facts" that were being posted. She commented on how the last few pages were upsetting to her and not what she intended the thread to become.

I would like everyone to realize that this part of the Forum is where we, as the Protector Server Community, come to spend "in-game" time with each other when we cannot be "in-game." This is pretty much a glorified chatroom, here for our community to interact when we cannot be in-game to interact.

Yes, some threads rightfully deserve to not be led off-topic. But those threads tend to get Stickied so that they are "flagged" as being important. Anything else is, and really should be, pretty much "fair game."
  22. And now several (I bolded that for a reason. Don't anyone try and think I'm talking to them specifically) of us have started to resort to "correcting" each other and "implying" (I would have said "name calling" but no names were actually called).

People, please, if you don't like what someone has said, ignore it and move on. It is simply an opinion, and trying to make the other person look insensitive by implying that their opinion is invalid is just insulting.

    Knock it off.

I agree we can manage ok, but what I'm getting from you is that the problem lies with overly sensitive people and nothing to do with people coming out right and attacking others, is that what you are saying? Like I said fun and games is one thing, attacking someone (and for example so I make myself clear, calling names and attacking a person "you &*&%$ you suck you n00b" and the like is what I am referring too) is not so much a problem with the person being attacked in my eyes as much as it is with the person saying that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

THAT I would have serious issues with, but I have to say I do not see it very often. Yes, it does happen, but not nearly as commonly as it does elsewhere. As a matter of fact, the times I see it most often here are when someone from here posts in another (specific) section of the boards and trolls follow them back here from there.
  25. Oz is a perfect example of my earlier post in which I said "I've seen a drastic decline in posts from certain players." His was a name I would see, well, not necessarily even on a daily basis, but a few times a week at least.

I don't even remember the last time I saw a post from him before now, though... It's been a while.

    Edit:

    >.>
    <.<

...Of course then I searched for his most recent posts and see that he's had like 6 in the last two days.
