  1. That picture should be the new load screen with issue 22, instead of the one currently on the beta build. That way players that don't know anything about the SSA will think that one clockwork killed statesman.

Sister Psyche is also missing, odds are he's with her. Also missing are Infernal and Swan, not sure if that has any significance.

Also, I bet 100mil inf that the girl behind and to the left of the coffin is Penelope Yin.

    Great job Zaloopa.
Lol, I mostly just threw the squid in there as a joke, but I could remake it with a squid-lobster-human triforce sorta thing.
  4. I've updated the SFS events on the Protector Calendar up through April. The titles now show which SF will be run on any given week.
  5. Tin Mage went smoothly. We managed to get all the badges except Midnight Dodger, darn Malta and their invisible minelayers!

  7. "Desire for goodness leads to earnestness. Earnestness in turn leads to sanctimonious self-righteousness, which breeds intolerance, upon which harsh judgement quickly follows, yielding dire punishment, inflicting general terror and paranoia, eventually culminating in revolt, leading to chaos, then dissolution, and thus, the end of civilization. We are creatures dependent upon civilization. It is the only environment in which we can thrive."

This quote is usually what I have in mind when I make my villains. None of them want the world destroyed. In fact, in their eyes Heroes are more dangerous to society than any villain ever could be.

So it's always the villains that have to put their personal issues aside and play pretend hero.
I always thought it would be cool if co-op content had optional objectives that are villainous in nature and come with a nice reward, but completing these objectives would force your character's alignment to be villain. Maybe Malta has a bunch of meta humans captured in some kind of power draining machine, you can use the controls to kill them off and infuse yourself with their power granting you a 24 hour temp power similar to the mortimer kal one. But if you want this temp power you have to deal with becoming a villain.

So all those heroes who like to take the moral high ground, but still try to kill off Infernia and Glacia to make the Lady Grey Task Force go quicker, have to deal with the consequences of not sticking with their morals. I know there would be a whole mountain of problems with a system like this unfortunately, but it's still a cool idea.

It actually is, the logout timer is set to 8 hours. I don't always get 8 hours of sleep, and I don't always work for 8 hours at work, so when either of those things happens I find myself still logged into the forum (after a quick Refresh) when I wake up/get home.

Which is astoundingly idiotic, really, since it completely defeats the purpose of the Remember Me function. Might as well just remove it at this point.
I don't mind the 8 hour timer because I never even get to that point. Every time my browser is closed I am logged out.

That's how it's been for me for quite a while now. The issue this morning was something like this: Log in->Go to dev digest and see that I'm logged out. Log in again->Go back to dev digest and once again I'm logged out. Log in again->Try a different subforum and get logged out. Try to log back in but get an error. Try 2 more times. Give up.
  11. I was getting this same issue earlier this morning. It seems to be working right now though.
  12. The way I see it a tauntless tank *can* work, but it requires an excellent player behind the wheel, whereas even a mediocre player can do the job if they have taunt. The problem I think most people have is that a large portion of the players that decide to skip taunt are not excellent players and so teammates that rely on them end up faceplanting.

I personally take taunt on all my brutes and tankers because it lets me be lazy. I can just jump to the back of the group and taunt the front and instantly I have all the aggro. This is especially useful at the levels before APP/PPPs are available and when my set's AoEs have a small radius. Honestly though, I think I use taunt more often when solo than when I'm on a team because of the -range and to grab runners. On a team I just let the blasters deal with runners but solo I can usually make them come back by taunting them.

I almost always join or lead PUGs and there have been several occasions where things went disastrously wrong directly because our tauntless tank couldn't hold aggro. The time that stands out the most is when we didn't realize our tanker was missing taunt till we got to Lord Recluse on an STF. We actually ended up failing because the only one who could stay alive was the tanker and he couldn't do enough damage to take out the towers by himself. Another time I remember was an ITF with 2 tauntless tanks, one of them kept running ahead to solo mission objectives and the other was not good at holding aggro. As a result our ITF that was advertised as a shard/xp run was done in record time and most of the team didn't have fun at all because they spent most of that time faceplanted and in the end they didn't have much more shards/xp than when they started.

    It's official!

I believe he is referring to his post count.

Grats hyper, now do that 6 more times with emoticons and you'll be Golden Girl.
  14. On sunday we ran both the Mender Silos Strike Force and the Apex Strike Force and it only took about an hour! Next time Mender Silos is in the lineup I'm probably going to run it on higher difficulty because it was a breeze this last time. When we started Apex unfortunately one of our team was claimed by real life so we pressed on with a team of 7. Even so we managed to get all the badges to unlock the Master badge (even though we averaged 1 death per minute overall)! Our enemies were so upset they kept sending magic swords to interrupt our screenshot at the end.

Next up on the List is the Tin Mage Strike Force. We'll try for all the badges as usual on that. Also, if we get that done fast enough I may go back to the start of the list and do a Tarikoss SF run. So meet up in the Rikti War Zone next Sunday, January 22nd at 5pm PST/8pm EST!

Note: I couldn't add links to next week's strike forces because ParagonWiki is offline today to protest the anti-piracy laws that are currently in congress.

It's funny, on Protector it seems to be universally accepted that glowies are a "free for all" sort of situation. I've never seen a team leader complain about people clicking glowies without permission and I've never seen anyone ask for permission. This works out quite well until I make an alt on another server then get yelled at for clicking a glowie and told I have "bad manners"
  17. I played around on beta tonight and got to check out the new trial. It seems pretty easy to learn, though all the enemies are +2, not just the bosses. Still, my sorta-squishy dark armor brute was the only "tank" on our league and we completed it without any trouble. I think the whole league was +3, so no clue how it'll go with a PUG.

I had a snappy remark but then I remembered you can't specifically mention other games on these forums. Rest assured it was quite hilarious.

Also, I'm curious how queuing up for TFs will affect things. Will we be able to vote kick like in itrials? Will the team lead be able to invite while it's in-progress like itrials? Will the sewer babies finally move on to another LFG event? Or will the level 15 one be too difficult for them? So many questions!

Yeah, unfortunately some of the really shiny parts don't turn black when you choose black in the costume screen. It kinda ticks me off when I tried to give Zaloopa a mix of celestial and ascension pieces, there's nothing I could do to make the colors match unless I made them all grey instead of black.

My girlfriend had the same issue with her main, she had this costume mixing and matching a bunch of different things and it worked really well. The pants were Armor Plate colored white and with everything else white they didn't seem out of place. But when they added ultra mode and made a lot of pieces reflective the armor plate turned grey instead of white, screwing up her whole costume. Sadly, when I mentioned it in the All Things Art thread the dev's solution was "Turn off reflections, then it'll look like it used to" which was no help at all.

    Ok, done ranting... for now.
  20. Alas, my MM was too squishy to handle the massive ambush and we failed the master run. In fact, one of the 2 bonus screenshots this week has me faceplanted in it. We gave it a good try though and hopefully Ex will have better luck on tuesday.

So next up on the List is the Mender Silos Strike Force, and since that's quick we'll also do an Apex Strike Force. We'll even try for the Master badges on Apex, the only hard one is defeating Battle Maiden quickly anyway. So if you wanna help me beat the snot out of the freedom phalanx, meet up in villain ouroboros next Sunday, January 15th at 5pm PST/8pm EST!

    3. The defense powers are overslotted to little effect
    4. Not enough accuracy in drain psyche
So apparently a friend of mine already had an Arch/MM blaster that was similar to what I was going for. I looked over her build and was able to tweak it to fit my playstyle (and budget) and it was actually very similar to the build you posted. However I did want to explain myself a little bit.

I skipped aim on purpose, I just wouldn't get enough use from it. To be honest I probably won't get much use out of build up either, I tend to forget about short duration buffs like that even though mathematically I know they're extremely useful.

Subdual isn't slotted because I don't plan on using it much, even when mezzed. I have more than enough recharge to spam my first two archery attacks without needing a third attack mixed in there. Also weapon redraw annoys me so I avoid it whenever possible.

Overslotting defense powers is a bad habit I picked up from my more endurance heavy characters. As a result I end up trying to squeeze as much end reduction into toggles as I can while still getting decent set bonuses. But you're absolutely right about it not being necessary here.

As for drain psyche, I'm getting more than enough accuracy from set bonuses to make up for it.

Now for an update, I've been playing this blaster off and on and got her up to 35. I did some slotting along the way and so far I can say the advice I've gotten from this board has been a huge help. This is the longest I've managed to stick to a blaster and once I got Rain of Arrows it really started to click for me. So thanks to those of you who have taken the time to help me here.

I asked on a global channel and 3 or 4 people told me it ended already. But from what you just said your ITF was done before I was on anyway. I'll have to be on earlier next week.
  23. So what time are you guys starting these now? Yesterday I showed up a little after 7 pacific time and someone said it had already finished. I know I have at least 1 more week off work (hopefully more) so I should be able to catch next week's run.
