Archery/MM Defensive Build
The simple stuff
I would take one recharge slot out of concentration and put a 5th slot in Rain of Arrows for the global recharge bonus and an increase in damage for RoA of course.
Change the Flight in afterburner to LOTG + Recharge for another recharge bonus increase.
You get about a 2 second increase to Drain Psyche, which I know you would like to get perma.
World of Confusion, I get totally why you did it. I just am not crazy about World of Confusion and how it works or sort of works sometimes. I wish you could put some other sort of AOE that would give you range cap. Unfortunately getting rid of WOC for something else really messes with your set bonuses beyond Range defense cap. Your recharge drops as well.
I agree with your S/L thoughts as your going to have to get into melee to pull it off so one purple inspiration and your just about capped and ready to Drain Psyche / ROA at melee range.
If you removed 2 slots out Aimed Shot and put them in Explosive and Fistful you would cut your recharge on Drain Psyche from 38.76 to 37.26. But your Range Defense Cap would drop down to 44.2. Your Original recharge for Drain Psyche was 40.57 just as a comparison without having to flip to MIDs..
Beyond all of that it would require a build from scratch to see what I could change. But at that point I'm just thinking modifying the DP/MM builds you see around here to fix it into Archery. Since much of the ground work has already been laid out.
1. Why Soft Cap is Important : http://dechskaison.blogspot.com/2011...important.html
2. Limits: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Limits

Change the Flight in afterburner to LOTG + Recharge for another recharge bonus increase.

Is there a reason you don't do this with Arch/NRG, with boost range making Arch's cone a lot better and giving you the best defense in the game... out of range defense. Enemies have a 0% chance to hit you if you are hitting them from outside their range. That's just a thought.

Going to be blunt you are missing must haves on that build
1. No aim
2. Subdual isn't slotted enough to be useful. Its one of the three powers you can use while mezzed. It is also your only non smash/lethal attack
3. The defense powers are overslotted to little effect
4. Not enough accuracy in drain psyche
Here is a build with minimal changes to yours.

Going to be blunt you are missing must haves on that build
1. No aim 2. Subdual isn't slotted enough to be useful. Its one of the three powers you can use while mezzed. It is also your only non smash/lethal attack 3. The defense powers are overslotted to little effect 4. Not enough accuracy in drain psyche |
I skipped aim on purpose, I just wouldn't get enough use from it. To be honest I probably won't get much use out of build up either, I tend to forget about short duration buffs like that even though mathematically I know they're extremely useful.
Subdual isn't slotted because I don't plan on using it much, even when mezzed. I have more than enough recharge to spam my first two archery attacks without needing a third attack mixed in there. Also weapon redraw annoys me so I avoid it whenever possible.
Overslotting defense powers is a bad habit I picked up from my more endurance heavy characters. As a result I end up trying to squeeze as much end reduction into toggles as I can while still getting decent set bonuses. But you're absolutely right about it not being necessary here.
As for drain psyche, I'm getting more than enough accuracy from set bonuses to make up for it.
Now for an update, I've been playing this blaster off and on and got her up to 35. I did some slotting along the way and so far I can say the advice I've gotten from this board has been a huge help. This is the longest I've managed to stick to a blaster and once I got Rain of Arrows it really started to click for me. So thanks to those of you who have taken the time to help me here.
So I'm pretty much new to blasters, though I've made about 6 of them and never kept one past level 25. This time I thought that if I had a build I could get excited about I might keep it long enough to have fun with. I made this build in Mids with the idea of softcapping ranged defense and using hover. I took scorpion shield to have some added defense to s/l.
I was hoping someone with more blaster experience could check out this build and let me know if I've overlooked anything.
I just realized that Mids let me take summon spiderlings but I shouldn't be able to without taking another skill in mace mastery first. I'll have to tweak that, but the rest of the build should still work.
Notes:
Ranged and Energy defenses are softcapped
Negative Energy defenses are at 35%
Smashing and Lethal defenses are at 31%
Should have no problems with End usage
42% global recharge (without hasten active)
+48% global accuracy
World of Confusion is mostly a set mule (I did this because the purple confuse set is relatively inexpensive)
