empath i suppose could give a Regen bonus as could pain domination.

Since no one's going to do that anyway... Don't ask for ponies when you can ask for FriesiansThink bigger! Thing status protection
Mag 2 would be fine
More seriously though, that initial example may be put absolutely the other way around, - heat and cold cancel each other out and so neither party has the advantage. (That's how the current system works more or less.)
On the still other hand let's not make the system look like AD&D (or Rolemaster or any early PnP roleplaying, with 10000 rules that are all "logical" taken separately but produce quite... unobvious results together. (What happens to Thief who've read scroll of Mordekkainen's Disjunction and rolled "caster loses his spells permanently" result?Thief hasn't got any spells to begin with. Can he read another scroll afterwards? ) )
-
/signed, although I thought that charges were reserved for accolades... Then again, day job buffs as they are now are next thing to useless, and none of them affect combat anyway IIRC (unlike accolades) so they'd still stay separated.
-
I wasn't clear... By "log out for a week" in the OP I meant "log out for a week in a day job location".
[ QUOTE ]
Bit confused on your question here. The end-of-mission completion bonus is exactly how it sounds like.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, detailed step-by-step on what I did and what I'm thinking is happening.)
1) One of my characters was doing the first Mercedes Sheldon arc. I completed the 1st mission, took the 2nd one (Hunt 20+defeat+glowies) and logged out right in front of Mercedes Sheldon, with zero on my midnighter badge counter at that moment. For a dozen or so days.
Then I returned, and sped through that mission + 1 radio I had taken AFTER the 2nd login. I've got the salvage bonus from the radio, but I didn't get it neither after the hunt, nor after Killdozer and glowies. All that time the yellow buff icon was there.
Similar thing happened to another of the characters, but I auto-completed the mission, so I'm not sure if this is the same thing or WAI.
Now, this'd make sense if the reverse was also true (you can get the mission while your day job is active and you get that bonus even if the buff had expired) but that's not how it appears to work. -

What if the avatar is called "lower case" or "small letter"?
[/ QUOTE ]
Puns in the name only work if you don't need to explain them elsewhere.
(Although my main has his name unconventionally capitalized, and you have to either read the bio or remember something quite obscure to get it... Then again, I don't pretend to be paragon of style either)

Is it possible to make that outfit in the game?

Not really, closest I could come up with:

No multi-coloured belt witth lots of pouches, no baggy chests with emblems, caspes are attached in a different way, googles are a bit off, and I didn't work too much on the face(Uses Valkyrie cape)

Sister Psyche FTW! And she contrasts nicely with Ghost Widow. (Although Kalinda and Ms. Liberty would look nice too...EDIT: But that would create problem with Statesman's costume, - too much red/blue in thwe picture... )

There's an article over on mmorpg too
Linky
Mostly the same info, but one or two extra bits like
[/ QUOTE ]
or this:
[ QUOTE ]
We’re granting full experience (XP) and influence rewards for defeating enemies in player made content. We’re also giving players tickets in place of random drops. They can take these tickets to an Architect ticket vendor and redeem them for various in game rewards, such as enhancements, recipes and salvage. We’re also allowing players to purchase unlockable content with their tickets. They’ll be able to get maps, costume pieces and different characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
and later:
[ QUOTE ]
Players collect tickets as they go through content. Once they’ve collected enough tickets they can go to a ticket vendor and purchase exactly what they want as far as rewards go.
[/ QUOTE ] -
Well, as far as I understand it always was "no completion rewards, no drops" (except for Architect merits), they always promised XP and Inf/prestige for defeats.

Looks at the screenies... Magnifies... "Ambush details"? "Patrol details"? Custom minions? Wasn't there alot of doomsaying on them being unavailable at launch?
[/ QUOTE ]
Another reason for the change from I13 to I14, perhaps
[/ QUOTE ]
They specifically said that they only guarantee custom bosses at launch, even with the delay.
With even most basic implementations of ambushes and patrols, though, I'm much more optimistic that we will get interesting (gameplay-wise) missions. I just hope these options won't be gone by the release... -

Ooh new box going on shelves, Cox: Architect Edition (from the audio @ 42:35)
[/ QUOTE ]
I cant find that button
[/ QUOTE ]
For some weird reason It works in Opera 9.6, Chrome and Firefox 3 but not in IE7. :/ (this box HAS quite a collection of browsers...) -
Cunning linguistical lawyering won't change the fact. Sometimes people neither can (or want) to team with someone, nor do they want to set all 10 levels of hiding/auto-declining/whatever. (Which is quite a chore to do, BTW and tends to behave strangerly after multiple re-logins with different alts. ) Some players are forgetful and leave "not LFT" comment longer than necessary, but that doesn't magically translate into fishing license either.
So, the safe option when you see "Not LFT" or "Soloing" in the comment if to assume that it means what it means, - they don't want neither invites nor /tells for whatewer reason. If you send a tell anyway (and there might be reasons to do that), - don't behave like they OWE you a polite 255-character reply or invite acceptance or a pony. They don't. (although I personally try to write something in reply, at least "no, ty, GTG soon" or something along those lines.)
P.S. Where is that thread derailment crew when you need them most?
 -
[ QUOTE ]
Bother, still can't find that Audio file;
[ QUOTE ]
We've got both a shiny collection of screens and a nice juicy hour-long audio file of Joe Morrissey discussing the various (and numerous) ins and outs of this hugely anticipated feature. Of course, we've also distilled the most pertinent information into an easily skimmed list, which you can find after the break along with the audio.
[/ QUOTE ]
Anyone?

No file but there's a button to stream it just above "Mission Architect's key features" (I assume that's it, this box has no sound.) I -
Looks at the screenies... Magnifies... "Ambush details"? "Patrol details"? Custom minions? Wasn't there alot of doomsaying on them being unavailable at launch?
(I'm not sure about custom minions, but I hope that Ambushes, patrols and "don't aggro X" objectives (like in that RWZ mission) are there. ) -
Is it just me or mission should be both taken and completed while the buff lasts or you won't get the bonus salvage/xp/inf?
So that if you take mission, log out, and log back in after (say) a week, that mission won't give you day job bonus on completion.
Since this is a wild speculation at the moment i didn't include it in my /bug report... (I have just 1.5 cases where this might be so, and due to day jobs' nature, testing that to the standards of "reproducible" as a regular player requires weeks... And I personally just don't include speculation into /bugs.) -
[ QUOTE ]
Bahh i dont even know why im arguing about this, i hope the fella gets his account back quick. Apologies all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Everybody loves talking about money, and banks are places where most of the money are.Even details like IBAN check digits and those routing codes are fascinating... Ok, they aren't unless you're affected by them
P.S I too hope the OP gets his problem with the account sorted out ASAP. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sorry but i have a natwest account and i know for a fact that once you pay cash into your account it is there right away.
[/ QUOTE ]
You paying to someone else's account is different though. Transaction clearing is quite arcane thing, especially with something like NCsoft, a multinational company dealing with lots and lots of small credit card and cash and wire payments... So I'm not really surprised by such a delay, but it's definitely on the slow end and might be some problem with either bank or NC.
[ QUOTE ]
There is no waiting for cash to go through any kind of system.
[/ QUOTE ]
There might be, because the moment you gave it to bank it stops "beinng cash", it's a wire transfer now. Although it all depends on how exactly things are handled by both bank and NC. -
[ QUOTE ]
Villains earn merits at exactly the same rate as heroes, in terms of merits/per hour.
[/ QUOTE ]
They ought to eartn them at exactly the same rate. but it's hard fact acknowledged by a redname that they don't. As for possible reasons (less content overall, need to do papers/mayhems, reds are better speedrunners, blues have more stuff to speedrun...) Well, no one knows for sure atm. -
[ QUOTE ]
1) D&D ripped off a pseudo-medievil setting from Tolkain (although it's not really accurate to describe LotR as pseudomedievil as it had everything from 19th century to pre-Roman)
2) Warhammer ripped off D&D
3) Warcraft ripped off Warhammer
4) WoW became stupidly popular.
All this served to re-enforce the fantasy = peudomedievil cliche.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to mention a ton of books/movies of various quality.
[ QUOTE ]
Didn't you get the memo? All the cool kids hate popular things, like WoW or medieval/fantasy themed settings. A reason is not always required, either. If you don't hate popular things and proudly proclaim this over the internet, you're uncool.
[/ QUOTE ]
^^^ QFA
Vampires seem to be immune though... For whatever reason.
[ QUOTE ]
Meh. Tbh, fair play to Blizzard. I liked Warcraft 3 and Starcraft was ace. SC 2 looks very nice. And they have a lot of money from their success. People obviously enjoy playing WoW, or they wouldnt have that many subscribers, and they can afford advertising and such. I may not like WoW, and I do despise some of the sorts that play it, but thats just me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yea, sure, but we're t3h 1337! Everyrthing what was done more than 2 times is CLICHE! Un-cool!Wait... Aren't superheroes cliche too? Well, nevermind.
Having said that I don't think fantasy/medieval/whatever zone is especially good idea. It was done before, it was done near-perfectly before, in all the media. So, unless that hypotetical zone would be something really outstanding, it poubably would be rather uninspiring. -
[ QUOTE ]
Nope, it's not a technical limitation, it's quite possible, it's simply a matter of creating an alternative animations for using power X with weapon Y drawn.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is pretty much what "techniical limitation" means most of the time. (In an ideal world clever coder would just automate the process of creating alternative animations, and yes, that's quite possible.) But since the dev team neither has 500 BAB clones, nor even a couple of cloned procedural anim gurus, engine and anims stay as they are.
That's not a "rule" in a sense, say diminishing returns are a rule, - it's not a decision needed for gameplay, it's just technical limit devs try to balabnce things around, and get rid of it whenever possible. -
[ QUOTE ]
Currently, the rule is, if you use a power from a different set, it causes redraw.
[/ QUOTE ]
?? Why no redraw on arch/TA then? (was in some patchnotes sometimes this year.) Some powersets being more equal than others?if you meant switching between weapon/no weapon powersets... Well, that's a technical limitation, not rule.
-
Merits shared per account are a nice idea... But unless they fix problem with villains getting less merits, that won't happen, or if it will... Well, we have enough "devs hate villains" sentiments already.
-
[ QUOTE ]
I cannot see devs changing a power called Boxing to (in some cases) kick the bad guys, sorry.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, "no kicks of any kind" is fairly modern (late XIX-XX centuries) rule, IIRC, before that a few vere used. And we still have savate/Thai boxing and I'm sure others boxing-like martial arts where kicks are allowed and common. That said I don't see them doing it either. -
Oh, sure, there are ghosters and therte are those who think it's just running with Hide/SupInvis/Whatever and clicking
Then again, there are blasters and tankers like that too, not to mention empaths
-
Blind invites I can live with... But blind SGing always makes me, well, want to go SiGGy on them
(haven't ever actually done that though.)
-
I like ghosting. It makes perfect sense from in-character perespective ( "Yes, we're on a mission to save the city (bring it to its knees), time is of essence, blah, blah, but let's just take the slower, more dangerous route, you know... for the training's sake." Have you EVER seen reasoning like that anywhere but in games? I think not.) so it can't be really compared to farming or PLing, it's their opposite if anything.
And there is fun in it (for me at least) both as a ghoster and a regular team member. I really don't know why, but thought of sneaking past those oh-so intimindating spawns makes me giggle every time.
Not to mention the whole powersets and ATs made specially for ghosting.
