When people have surgery and are given anesthesia, there are two components. One deadens the brain enough to 'sleep' and the other is essentially a memory-blocker so that when (not if) someone wakes up on the table with their guts in parts, they may panic or whatever, but they simply won't remember it.
I don't know how close this is to that effect though.
I just think it's a darn shame that people even WANT to remove fear - memories? Yes. Taking actually *emotionally traumatic* moments I can see (I've got a few). But fear? Fear and pain are far better teachers than parroting and 'book learnin'. If we want to evolve ourselves into a species of ... I dunno, idiots who perpetually claim "hold my beer, I'm gonna show you something" ... oi. People SHOULD be afraid. We are NOT at the top of the food chain, we just happened to have killed enough of the rest of the food chain off that we LOOK like we are.
I'm not even a conspiracy theorist in any way, but MAN this idea bugs me.
Stupidity should be painful. Pain should trigger fear. Fear should make you learn not to do stupid things. *shrug* -

Man, and people are afraid of the robots being taught to feel pain.

Yes.
Be sure to watch the making of, too. -

DAAAANG. Very pretty!!
Last night was probably the worst bunch of tot'ers I've seen, in quantity anyway. Same group of 4 kids from up the street - and that was it. FOUR. Kids.
Not even four GROUPS of kids, which we had last year.
So now I'm stuck with candy neither my mom nor myself can eat (snickers... oh how I miss thee, snickers, but you have milk products in you).
I AM DISAPPOINT. -
I suspect it looks better in motion than in stills, though. There have been a good number of things I've seen stills for that turned me off, but then you watch it in motion and it isn't as distracting.
They ARE a little anemic though.

Quote:Oh that was definitely the original plan - once Star Wars had become a hit. It was as self-contained as it was because they didn't KNOW it would be but still, there it is. Very shortly after the release it was obvious, and the ball was rolling. Pretty much EVERY interview (paper, I mean, I didn't see any video ones) from pre-80 would refer to that idea.
For the Trilogy of Trilogies thing... I know I saw an interview with Lucas when I was like 5 or 6, and he said then there were supposed to be NINE star wars movies. The 3 that were already out were the middle 3, there would be 3 before and 3 after.
I always hated Empire though, because I felt betrayed and let down by the story... but that was because I read Splinter of the Mind's Eye so many times between SW and Empire's release that I had hoped it would be more like that. -
One thing I have to say is I'm really glad these are happening BEFORE Halloween night. Because even though there aren't many kids in my neighborhood any more, they DO come and they DO interrupt quality game time

hehehehe. Some of the old glowy effects were certainly... um... less than spectacular.
The one thing that I REALLY, honestly wish would happen?
James Earl Jones goes back to re-dub the line, "I was once the learner."
STUDENT, Darth. The word you're looking for is STUDENT of the force. *headdesk* -
Indeed. All I really want is the "uncut" version to be cleaned up. I don't want the added scenes that were INSERTED into the movie later (though I liked seeing Anchorhead as an actual space port, instead of just a dusty town, and I loved Han and Chewie running into the corridor filled with troops instead of just a blank dead-end wall). I just want the print cleaned up and made presentable.
To my knowledge that Jabba scene was never in any of the original releases, but they did show it off a LOT when they finally got down to add those other scenes digitally. I still think the scene was absolute garbage even WITH modern CG tech. -
The way that I have generally enjoyed Star Wars, is that I believe everything you ever needed to know about the entire universe is right there in the one movie. You don't need history, you don't need an epilogue. Even the other two in the original trilogy only served in my opinion to screw it up.
However WITH that background, like I said it would make the prequels at least make a little more sense. However... lol it's been how long, and the prequels stank anyway. too late to make sense of it for me, sadly. -
If you do a search on Deviantart for "custom MLP" or like that, you'll find a huge assortment of modified and customized ponies. The are almost all completely awesome pieces. Even people who don't at all care about the MLP "thing", can appreciate them because they really are cool.

Oh my, yes do please pass hugs and well wishes to her. I don't think I've ever played with her but that's no reason not to hope for the best.

My Grr Argh costume is ready Nothing much to it, but hey, it was the first thing I thought of, and I like sticking with it. So if it does happen, I'm ready, if not, I can still lol.

Quote:Okay I'll take a guess... the one on the right kinda looks like Gordan whats-his-face from HalfLife?
The left one, Bryan Fury? No idea on the bottom ones.
Heheh. Well you mostly got it. It's Gordon Freeman and the Gman from Half Life 2, and a headcrab from the same. -
