So defeat badges are grinding? Then all of the defeat badges should be removed? I dont think there was anything wrong with most AE badges but some needed to be changed or removed but not as many as they are doing. Does everyone not want to work for anything anymore want everything handed to them?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes they are lowering the bar so that everyone can wear a badge. Making the meaning behind the badge valueless.
Why remove the badge to rescue 50 hostages? That takes some time but certainly a lot less time and energy than killing 200 toxic tarantulas. They are making MA badges meaningless because everyone will have all of them. Most players dont badge so trying to find and kill 200 toxic tarantulas isn't important, but MA is super popular so all of a sudden those badges must be very very easy to get so everyone playing MA will have them.

So you're one of the 'I have X, you don't: I'm happy' people then.
Eco.

Wouldn't it be so much nicer if all the world were the same ?

2) Disagreed.
As pointed out low-level Blasters bloom very early. As in, you create it and hit the Tutorial and you've bloomed. Early-game Blasters are the easy street going up to the rocky road of the end-game content.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bloom early then they wither quickly -
It depends.
1 how is your global accuracy doing ? If you have a decent level of bonus (45+) you don't need to worry. If you have less you may want more there.
2. Are you trying to get past a nuke crash or be a regen blaster ? Nuke crash you look at the end sets. Regen you look at the heal sets. -

I'm hazy on the precise cause and effect of the NGE, but it was either Lucasarts pressuring Sony to make it more actiony, or Sony making an attempt (and, despite all the bad press you hear about it, succeeding, mind you) at keeping the license by staunching losses.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are swapping combat upgrade, (CU) with NGE. The one million figure came from what SONY was saying for presales of the NGE. -
NGE was the expansion to Star wars galaxies. Its the one that had players protesting on every planet they had defined and had GM's teleporting thousands of players at a shot into space(Which by the way didn't exist yet).
Over their bungling of that incident I think they lost more players than COH ever had. I think the swing was something on the order of from 1 million to somewhere less than 100K . -

I just wanna know what he is talking about. I assumed SWG too. I don't care if he is right or wrong, just curious.

SOE made the blunder of deleteting and/or banning thousands of players across multiple servers for a platinum exploit that occurred after one of their patches messed something up. It was their doing, they pushed the code and people found out about it. Anyone who received any of the gains from the exploit got penalized by either being rolled back, banned or deleted. It didn't matter if the player had no idea that the funds were ill gotten or not. People were trading funds to anyone, spreading the wealth so to speak. It was so wide spread they didn't ask how or why, they tracked the exploit and penalized everyone.

LOL nothing compared to NGE. -

SOE survived the worst blunder in any MMO and I'm pretty sure regardless of the playerbase opinions this game is going to continue moving on.

This isnt star wars.

Who said anything about star wars other than you...

LOL you are either being ignorant or gloriously humorous.
SOE making the worst blunder in MMO history ?. There is only one event that fits that bill, NGE.
[/ QUOTE ]
SOE has made lots of blunders, but the big one relevant to this issue and how some people are viewing devs has nothing to do with SWG or the NGE.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then you aren't talking about the worst blunder in MMO history. Just another quick observation NCSOFT does't have SONY's deep pockets either. The Dot Com bubble has come and gone.
[/ QUOTE ]
I know what I'm talking about and it was a huge blunder that caused thousands of accounts to cancel in the span of a few days ... I have no further reason to justify any point to you.
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL justify to me ? You have been trying to justify your position to yourself. -

I think the reference was to what could have been the absolute coolest MMO out there... MxO... and they (SOE) fumbled it.
Yet, they're still in business.

The S in SOE is for SONY .
They can make mistakes that would sink the entire MMO industry and still be in business . -

Its common sense. No one can say they didn't know what they were doing was wrong... they just chose to ignore it. There were warnings in place people could have heeded.
Stating its a position of arrogance is your choice, but abusing a system claiming ignorance in the face of facts is unexcusable by those who are attempting to justify themselves.
[/ QUOTE ] I'm not gonna try to change your mind, it seems we just disagree on this issue. No big deal.
But I don't get why people feel they have to justify anything to other people(talking about MA stuff). Regardless if someone used the exploit or not, why does everyone feel the need to justify themselves or demonize those that did it? The change was made, some people were punished. Everyone should just get over it and move on.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm in agreement, but those people shouldn't then come onto various forum topics stating that the devs were wrong blah blah blah. They are bringing this argument forth by topics such as these. If they didn't want judgments from the player base then they shouldn't bring their judgments about the devs to the players.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry no punishment no abuse here, just a fair minded assesment that the devs were out of line on this. Whats more if they take action on an ongoing basis without giving guidelines they wont have many players left to take arbitrary action on.
I have said this time and again the forum environment cultivates players for whom a kick in the wedding tackle would be an honor and any scarring would just be considered one more badge to count. -

It took me over 500 hours to get my fifties, and I enjoyed them that way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Good for you. Unfortunately not everyone is you. Different people, different desires, abilities, needs and wants.
Newsflash not everyone wants to take 500 hours slogging through low level content to get to 50.
I'll let you on another little secret, If I had of thought after doing it that way once I would have had to do the same again, I would have switched to online battleship immediately. People talk about burnout from leveling to fast, well its nothing compared to the mass exodus you would see from the other extreme.

But who is foolish when they simply break the rules that are stated? The rules aren't there to hinder your playing - they're there to make the game FUN for AS MANY AS POSSIBLE.
So if a few people start screwing it up for the rest of us, you better believe those people are the ones going to get the smackdown

So do I, the last Hami raid was months ago. There was even a thread in the forums complaining where they went. -

Well the game could charge character upkeep for a start. Which would be a nice nerf to RPERS that hang around emoting or that slow down the game with keybound speaches about their high principles or low ambitions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok LOL i am not an RP'er I have Bio's for most of my toons. Have a few key binds, nothing lengthy by any sense of the word, but wow now we are really getting silly. Charging character upkeep lol? C'mon
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL why not ?? It even makes good sense from a RP* standpoint. You have to maintain your gear, practice your powers, cultivate sources of information. Inf as upkeep nicely represents that.
*This just goes to show you, that you can argue anything for RP reasons even the destruction of RPing in the game. -

The only people who NEED to know the "law" in this case are the Devs and the GMs.

I can't imagine how that statement could be more wrong. But I would suggest you take it up with the level pacters.
[ QUOTE ]
And believe it or not: we do not have the right to dictate what they want us to do.
[/ QUOTE ]
That isn't the question. The question is do they have the implied right to dictate how the game is to be played. Do they have the moral authority to play bait and switch games with their customers. They may be able to for at least a little while, but to borrow from Lincoln "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time." -
[ QUOTE ]
We HAVE it. Now whether you LIKE what we have or not is your own perogative. To say that we DON'T HAVE end game content is just plain silly. I'm counting hours and hours worth of content there, possibly days or month's worth.

My thought was more "how is ignoring warnings considered a vindication for doing something dumb?"
[/ QUOTE ]
there's a difference between glazing over the safety bit in an owner's manual and sticking your tongue into woodchipper after being told it will do terrible things to your face
i'm of the opinion that this falls into the former category since every warning was either out of the way or accompanied by other text that no one really wanted to read
[/ QUOTE ]
Ignorance of the law is not a legal excuse for breaking the law.
[/ QUOTE ]
I get a kick out of the stunningly willful suspension of common sense exhibited by many of the recent posters in these threads too.
For example, how ridiculous is someone saying 'they left it in the game and I may have abused it but its their fault!'.
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL I get a kick out of people who trot out "ignorance of the law is no excuse"
When the law is "You know it when you see it" -

This game is marketed and advertised as a Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game.
That, in itself, should be 'nuff said, but allow me to expand on the thought. Do people in Call of Duty complain about how the devs are too shooter-friendly? Does anyone call up Bud Selig and complain that baseball is too sports-friendly? Have you ever heard of someone complaining at a Texas Hold'em tournament that the game is way too card-friendly?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well then perhaps everyone who doesn't play this as a RPG should just be asked to take their custom elsewhere.
