I can see it being gray if someone has red rep and tries repping others. But the neutral part wouldn't make since, we all started with neutral rep with the new forum. I've heard others mention that if a person with little rep, gives rep to a person who has a lot of rep, the rep received appears gray.
It be nice to know how the rep system works

Well I know this isn't going to happen. I saw a nice post somewhere that showed good reasons why they will not merge the servers. If I find it I'll toss it in here.
Oh and welcome to CoX. Joining a Super Group and/or your server's global channels can help a lot in finding team members and friends.
