With petitioning they can reset the rent counter but it doesn't always fixes when the next rent notice after that shows up. It could very well start again shortly after they reset it.

Until they fix it, there's a reasonable workaround, at least it's working so far for me.

    1. Pay rent on the 1st of the month (every 4 weeks...exact hour doesn't seem to matter)
    2. Ignore the upcoming rent notice and don't pay till the next month.
    3. Repeat from #1

The power hasn't gone out yet so far regardless of when i get the rent notice by following the above steps. And it does vary among my bases, some a few days after paying.

Paying on the 1st, is just easy to remember but i guess any day would work as long as it's consistent, though i haven't really tested anything else heh.

Thanks seeing as its the first I'll give that a try.

Seems lots of people have been doing that.

I hate to feed a troll, but I'd like a little bit of clarification on this. A lot of people have been doing what? Leaving the MMO genre in general, or CoX in particular?

    [/ QUOTE ]

And I really hate to reply to someone who starts a question with an insult.

For the second time in this thread, I'll point out that this is an MMO. If it was an FPS I might agree with you. If you lack patience in an MMO, you might consider trying a different type of game.

Seems lots of people have been doing that.

it's cute that you think I still waste my time reading your drivel.

Was that meant to offend or provoke pity ? Anyway the reply was to illustrate the stupidity of the comment and I am glad you reinforce the point.

P.S. A great book for anyone wanting to avoid the goats pitfalls.

If you want to appeal to patient people troll the Chess forums or the Go Boards.
  6. [ QUOTE ]

Whiners? You wonder why you need these threads? Its this attitude that is why the doubter wont ever change their minds

I mean come on, is this really reasonable?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The flow of the market, the levels of pre planning and resource management needed to make effective use of it suits some people well.

If it doesn't suit you well and you aren't happy about it well you must be a whiner.

What the market crumudgeons don't get, is that they are a minority and the devs are moving the game towards the majority. Instead of proposing useful ideas (To be fair some have a market merger would be a very good thing) they keep shouting at people "YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG".

They never get the fact, that people do know how to do it correctly they just don't like it. So what happens ? Every issue we see another ham handed nerf to the game untill the marketeers will be a left with a market that is about as enjoyable as PVP is.

Common salvage gone, well that makes life easier for most people. Can direct purchase of recipes with tickets be far off ?
  7. How much do you want to spend ?

A blaster with about 1.5 -2.0 billion in sets can outdamage just about anything and live to tell about it in PVE.

    With SOs not so much.

In general if you aren't alive it really kills your DPS.

The trick is to get your high damage attacks on very high recharge and in a way you are survivable.

Bosses/AVs/Gms forget about the melee attacks get to range get to very high recharge, and ranged defense then go to town.

For fire its no problem at all to have an attack chain of AIM+BU+(Flares+blaze+fireblast)^3 then repeat untill aim and uildup are up again.

This gives you 1200 or so points in 3.67s second from the initial attack. The second iteration is a bit higher from defiance about 1500 on the third you will be much lower as the fireblast won't get the buff from aim and buildup.

Hello Blasters players, I'm lookin for 2 builds:

    1. Assault Rifle (to help on farms, TF and Normal Team mishes)

    2. Primaries/Secondaries good for pvp zones .

you can post your mid builds for Advice, tips and such, Thanx for you time.

If you want a good PvP Blaster, make a Sonic/Energy.

    This.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I love fire too much and AR not much at all, but I don't think it's as simple as Chaos says.

AR has a lot of cones and does a lot of AOE damage. On paper AR looks quite good to me. AR/Energy is a good, if nonintuitive, combo that reaches out startling distances with enormous built-up cones. In practice, it makes a lot of noise, annoys my wife and I have more than enough projects in this game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Farming is about kills/time.

AR is very nice for the wall. There is nothing like having an 80' cone and enemies that stand in a 50' line. For other maps though it becomes a bit problematic. The time it takes to line up the cone so it hits the entire group can slow you down if you aren't very good at it.

Not a market "hater" per se, just feel like maybe it could use some work or a different system.

Unless you're a fan of merging the markets, or abandoning the lame half measures of merits and tickets, we don't have much common ground.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *Looks down at Goat's feet*

Hey, that ground is the same ground I'M standing on! lol

Yes! Yes! Oh for the love of HALLE BERRY yes they need to do something about the merit situation, and in MY opinion, the ticket situation too.

And for now, lets just agree to disagree about the market I guess.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They did. They decided that some content awarded too many merits and some awarded not enough and they changed them.

They also saw that MA was over rewarding compared to the goals they set for it and changed that too. The changes made things take longer. That is the direction the devs wanted and the direction they went.

They did the same thing with merits. They went from the 10-20 minute Virgil/Katie/Eden standard to the 60 minute ITF standard. While it made the painfully long and boring content slightly more worthwhile the real goal was to increase the time it took to get the shineys by roughly triple on average.

Chances of making it quicker, as you want, or as it was during the Meow farms are pretty clearly NOT the direction the devs are heading now or any time in the near future.

    [/ QUOTE ]

On the mood of the devs probably so. There are loopholes available that can get you considerably more merits/time so they may not be all of one mind on this.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Can I get all the Basilisk's Gaze set pieces in the Bronze Tier ticket rolls? I got one recently, but it wasn't one of the two I specifically want, the Acc/End/Rech/Hold and the Acc/Rech.

If not Bronze, are they available in Gold or Silver?

And what level range should I pick to maximize my chances of getting BG? I got the piece I rolled (Acc/Hold, iirc) on lvl 25-29 Bronze.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Roll gold rolls or convert tickets into salvage sell buy your pieces.

Barring that save merits buy expensive things that you know what they should sell for, sell buy what you want

Rolling randomly for one particular item you will grow old before you get what you want

    Mini Shark Rant

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I was just on my tank and entered RV and was jumping around and all of a sudden I see 3 sharks coming at me and I hit my heal that capped my HP and I thought I was in the clear. Then out of nowhere 3 stalkers, 1 bane, 2 forts, and a brute all send a school of sharks at me and I died fast. I know it was a lot of them against me and no AT can take that much burst damage, but it still suck that every baddie has the same type of patron because the damage is insane.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Those pvp players go for 'damage' and not character conception...which is why they are all clones. They have no imagination and don't care that they are making lemmiwinks builds.

My defender has had the same epic pool since PvP first came out.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No [censored] they go for damage? I'm sure part of the reason they changed PvP was for those butthurt RPers who cried because their flying FF/Energy Defender with Jump Kick, Flurry, and 4 travel powers wasn't getting kills.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So true and in I14 we get another round of destruction courtesy of whiny RPers
  13. [ QUOTE ]
You're extending the analogy to the point it's not functional. The reference to treadmills is to make clear that it's a time-consuming activity. Inf on the market is a proxy for time. You can do other things and get the stuff randomly, with merits or with tickets, or you can earn inf and buy it on the market.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They are different activities. The market is key to equiping your character with top end gear. I took a look at one of my wealthier characters a while ago. The badge progess indicator had shown earnings of a little over 100 million inf (Does prestige factor ?). My total liquid on that one was a little over a billion and assets of maybe another 2 billion or so.

I had put in 400 hours + of play time on that character, By the time I would have achieved that by just playing the game would be over.

So yes I had to use the treadmil before I got my weights.

    [ QUOTE ]
It's outrageous and dismissable to take exception to things taking time to achieve in an MMO. It's fair to argue about how much time, but only to a point.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Once again how much and doing what ?
  14. [ QUOTE ]
But admitting it would mean admitting a large part of the reasons for hating 'ebil marketeers' are utter rubbish. Can't have that, must have best shinies for no effort all the time!

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is true but only as far as it goes. I have an item that I have been flipping, buying it for around 4000 and relisting it for around 200k. Small time stuff but it makes seed money for my lowbies. The anybody who could buy it would have to either bid more and wait, or hope to get it at my price when all my orders were filled.

Good luck on that, I have a pretty good handle on how many come to market and I have no trouble keeping bids out there for them.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

Not if everyone lists the item for a certain amount, and that is my fundamental problem with the Market. I can list what I WANT to pay till I'm blue in the face, but if no one sells it for that, I'll never get it, even if it is a reasonable amount.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You don't get to define "reasonable", that's up to the playerbase as a whole.

If you leave a bid up for a good while and it still doesn't fill, you aren't valuing the item correctly and other people are.

I can bid 100k on a LotG recharge and never get it.
Because that isn't a reasonable bid, however hard I wish for it to be.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And the person that flips the LotG (Example only for prices) buy buying them at 30mil, and re-listing them all for 100mil has artificially created that price knowing that eventually people will want them enough to pay that much.

Its the sad reality that greed affects MMORPS where the money isn't even real.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That price exists independently of the flipper. If you were a selller and everyone was selling lotg for 1 inf and you wanted to sell yours for more, you could just list it at a very high price and let the inevitable shortages when there were 0 on the market make your sale.

This is not saying what the flipper does is beneficial to the community as a whole. He does raise the average selling price and takes a piece from the seller and the buyer doing it.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Now, I think we can have constructive arguments about how steep the treadmill should be and how long you have to run on it before you get that next shiny. There's certainly plenty of disagreement on that, and the devs have to make some choice, knowing that the choice won't be ideal for many or even most players' entertainment dollar.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This absolutely.

    [ QUOTE ]
But if someone isn't entertained by running on a treadmill chasing the next cool thing, then perhaps MMOs aren't for them

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd say on that score it may not be a question of liking not liking treadmills. Its more a question of our game is like gym, that has weights, treadmills, stair machines and rowing machines. There are if I interpret it right people objecting to having to use the treadmill before they can use the weights.

My arc is now tagged 'Very short and silly'. Combined with 'Rikti Monkeys', I *think* it says everything that needs to be said about the arc without saying, 'Hey, you're going to be fighting some monkeys in this one and probably won't get a lot in the way of merits.'.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, actually it doesn't. A lot of people just can't comprehend that people would deliberately create and play missions for reasons other than rewards. Unless your description clearly states "very little in the way of tickets and xp" expect some low ratings.

If you don't care about ratings call it whatever you want, I doubt a mission that gives almost no rewards would have any complaints against it taken seriously by a GM.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ever see the movie tankgirl ?

I got dragged to see it when it opened. The friend I went to see it with loved it and I thought it was complete crap. Turns out she wanted to see a movie, that was little but goofy fluff. I thought the movie was going to be scifi with a decent amount of explosions.

If you are going to make an arc that has no rewards SAY SO. That way you set expectations correctly.

To be honest I don't think they care how long it took you me or anyone else it did to build out their characters. They just want to do it quicker and with a more enjoyable way of doing it. In real life I laugh at that attitude but this is a game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I laugh at people who have that attitude in an MMO. The entire point of persistent worlds is that you keep what you get, and therefore it takes something to get it.

The whole point of entertainment is that its entertaining.

That doesn't stop people from arguing them.

Your plan is frankly doomed to failure, as are all Utopian daydreams.
Anti-market zealots are not amenable to reason.

    [ QUOTE ]
What bugs me is that people think that they shouldn't have to put in the same amount of effort that I did to get where I am.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Right. I just checked, and I have 5160 hours invested across all of my characters, about half that time playing my 50s, plus plenty of time on the forums and in Mids' and spreadsheets.

So when someone with, say, a couple hundred hours in the game and one level 50 thinks they should have everything that I have, I start feeling like they want to get paid for one month of work the same as I get paid for two years of work. And suddenly I start getting a little cranky. I paid my dues. I earned what I have.

And frankly, you CAN have what I have for only a couple hundred hours invested. You just have to invest that time wisely, and some of those hours may well include activities you don't find fun. Or you can just keep doing what you find most fun. You'll get there eventually if you're willing to put in the hours. And if you aren't willing to put in the hours, don't expect to be at the same level as the people who are.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To be honest I don't think they care how long it took you me or anyone else it did to build out their characters. They just want to do it quicker and with a more enjoyable way of doing it. In real life I laugh at that attitude but this is a game.

Blasters peak too early. Or to put it better, they look great at first, then become Vengeance Bait by end game. they do enouh damage to attract attention, don't do enough to protect themselves, and have no defense. They've been at leaqst tossed a small bone with mental manipulation as a secondary, because all of the other secondaries just suck. I hate blapping, I want to blast, but the game and especially the secondaries doom someone who wants to play a blaster, not a squishy, defenseless scrapper.

Crashless ranged nukes, blizzard, and building for ranged defense Rehab blasters in the late late game. With blizard and the crashless nukes just build for recharge

Only stupid griefers brag about doing it. So if even if they get banned, it doesn't make much of a dent in the jerk population.

They need to go a step further, do some datamining, and ban anyone who habitually 1 or 0 stars arcs they haven't even started.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ehm.... Some people give Missions that brags about being a farming mission an 0 before goin inside (along with Reporting it).

In general Farm-busting is already worrying enough to do as is, since people - in some cases - need to go inside the illegal mission to be sure. Let's not get the wrong people autobanned.

In general we need a cataloguing system, not a rating system.

Rating systems can only end up as fail.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can think of no group that more needs an auto ban than those you speak of. They are little more than griefers that have found targets of opportunity. Once the farm in MA situation blows over they will move on and find other ways to annoy people.
