It's the only way to get rid of them. I urge all legitmate players of the game to report AE farms when they see them. Something must be done and it's up to us as players to help the devs get rid of this blight on our game.
[/ QUOTE ]
hey look, a junior Kontent Kop!
You know what works better than ratting out fellow gamers who enjoy a different playstyle?
Playing your own game and letting the professionals clean up their own messes.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem with this is the person being replied to is only going to gain greater enjoyment from the distress and chaos they are causing. -
Arch/Ment
AR/EM
Fire/Ment
Fire/Fire
Ice/Ment (but it needs work especially recharge)
Personally I have never enjoyed farming with a fire/kin. Just don't care for the rythm.
Edit key powers will be
Ar/ment ROA+Psy Scream
AR/EM Boost range, Full auto, buckshot and flame thrower
Fire Ment, Fire Ball, Fire Breath Psy scream (this order)
Ice/ment Alternating chains, Ice Storm, Frost Breath, Psy Scream and frost breath or icestorm, blizzard

And maybe that is the best point of all, if he can't do it outside of MA, then maybe that shows why MA has to be treated differently than normal content when looking at the potential for abuse through farming.
I guess he proved something afterall.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to disagree with you on this. If he had of kept to the stated intention of pushing what can be done without exploits this would have been a very interesting thing. He would have shown a fundamental hypocrissy on the part of the developers and that things are alright for some people in the game and not all.
He failed in the first and now he has just reduced it to a PL service. Its as if the revolutionaries at the Boston Tea Party decided not to throw the tea overboard, instead just rob the ships and the nearby warehouses as well.

[ QUOTE ]
And the funniest part is. You have people now debating about how one might theortically fix the problem that the OP doesn't see as a problem, but rather a chance to exploit something in the game for his advantage. (In this case he wants to PL people for Inf, which is kind of an odd thing for someone who is such a market-guru to be doing. As far as I can tell anyone who is even making half an effort at marketing has Inf coming out of their ears and really doesn't need any more)
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you missed the really funny part here. The boards guru of economics has so poorly priced his services. 350 million inf for a 1-50 power level in 6 hours works out to be about 21$, the RMT people charge about 5 times that so he has in effect valued his services at a rate less than that of third world coolie labor. -

One of my bigger pet peeves (I have many)
[/ QUOTE ]
First problem... way to high strung if you have many pet peeves in a game.
[ QUOTE ]
When I invite someone to a team, it is assumed that that player is competent
[/ QUOTE ]
2nd mistake. never assume anything. People from 5 y/o to 95 play this game, new player or 5 year vet, people with great reflexs and those who forget where the keyboard is. Its a big enough job to take of yourself without micromanaging others.
[ QUOTE ]
If I invite a Tanker, I assume that s/he's going to be capable of getting all but a small amount of the aggro and staying alive through it without much help. I don't assume that the Tanker is going to be lacking half of the powers from his primary, have every power in his secondary, and need help surviving being attacked my more than 3 enemies because he wants to be a Scrapper in Tanker's clothing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why not? Doesn't a well seasoned player like yourself know how to highlight a toon, right click, and see the powers selected? Even if a person has the "perfect" min/max build doesn't mean they know how to play; or how to play "your" way.
[ QUOTE ]
If I invite a Scrapper, I assume that s/he's going to capable of dealing damage and not needing much help staying alive. I don't assume that the Scrapper is going to need the constant attention of every support toon on the team just to get out of a group alive.
[/ QUOTE ]
Great after reading these last two my I "assume" that if my defender on your team won't have to waste my time buffing/healing the tanks and scrappers leaving me more time to not use my energy blasts.
[ QUOTE ]
If I invite a Blaster, I assume that s/he's going to be able to throw out enough damage to speed the group along. I don't assume that the Blaster will slow down the group's speed because s/he wants to see all of the mobs scattered because it makes him feel more powerful.
[/ QUOTE ]
Is it ok to slow down the group with a */Dev blaster setting traps, or are your scrappers in too much of a hurry to allow the Dev Blaster set up time?
[ QUOTE ]
Anyone that has a playstyle that actually inhibits team effectiveness is inhibiting my enjoyment of the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey that's why I pay and play for your enjoyment. You can thank me later *wink*.
[ QUOTE ]
When you join a team, there is a certain assumed level of contribution. If you're not going to meet that level of contribution, whether by being a Tanker without a taunt aura or shields, a Scrapper without mez protection, or a support toon that doesn't have or doesn't use those support powers, let me know before I invite you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you go into a big speech before you start each and every team? If not how am I to know what "level" that "you" assume I have brought to the table? Should I explaign that my toon is poor and I have only SO's and no purples?
Judging from your rant, I guess you don't like concept toons. People taking a power for (shock) because they just want it.
You don't have a right to control others. It seems that the only common problem with all those bad players is that you "assumed" something.
But hey people telling other people how to play their toon is one of my pet peeves. I just assume people aren't [censored].
[/ QUOTE ]
You have every right to gimp yourself all you want, but none to expect others to carry you when you do -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh good for you you can find a sewer team.
All I can seem to find is lvl 50's and 30's looking for farm teams.

I'm just wondering when this changed from "facing the Toughest in COH" to "Facing an enemy tuned for me to beat easier than other enemies I could have built"?
Not that I'm surprised...
[/ QUOTE ]
Link please. That's not what I can find in Smurphy's post. Unless you are talking about Keep's and my posts.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I don't want to get you in trouble by actually talking to you. (Maybe you should think about how pathetic it is that people think this would actually mean something to me?)
I don't need to be quoted for the other 99% of the forums that just lurk to see the truth of a thread whose title includes the quote about fighting the "toughest in CoH".
This obviously doesn't even live up to its title.
I'm sure it won't stop the sycophants from trying to hand wave away the difference. Do carry on with your worship.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is pretty sad. Could you imagine the reaction in real life of someone not only putting their hands over their ears but then going around shouting don't listen don't listen -
Break out the whips and the hairshirts
Somebody made a story that gives good rewards -
[ QUOTE ]
Let's not bring that here. Psychic Shockwave has been in the mouths of people for years same as Smoke Grenade once was. That's all I'm going to say about it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well its things like that why I am always leary about a set getting help. Its kind of like the government helping. /dev still underperforms every other secondary in terms of speed and damage output on teams. /psi which was the brass ring for dominators is looking like it will be very ho hum.
I'd like to have better snipes but not at the expense of seeing Ice rebalanced, fire looked at or arch and assault rifle being readjusted.
Just take a look at MA the last time I checked the customs were running approximately 10% more hp than regular critters. This was very nasty for blasters soloing spawns -
[ QUOTE ]
Assuming they can be run concurrently, I don't think the tiny amount of defense you get from running both is going to make much of a difference. Even if you're immobilized, if you're hovering out of melee range of mobs, you only have to worry about ranged attacks (which will come whether or not you can move around) or attacks that ground you. Since you are en/en, you have the tools to keep people away from you even if you get grounded. I personally don't think immobs are that big a deal for a ranged archetype, but others may disagree.
[/ QUOTE ]
They do run concurrently. The combined bonus from both is 3.6 % ? Its not noticeable if you have no def sets but if you have gotten your def into the 20s or 30s its very noticeable. -
The immob res is very nice. If you haven't IOd out to have defense yet you probably won't notice the addition.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Nobody has anything in the way of "built in" mitigation. Tankers have to run their armors or choose passives when leveling up. Same for scrappers. Controllers and Defenders need to actively use their powers against a boss. If anything, Blasters have the most built-in mitigation as, without using any kind of power selection or activating any kind of power, they can ignore mezzes to a significant degree as part of their inherent.
[/ QUOTE ]
One built in refers to primary or secondary powers, as opposed to CJ, acrobatics, and health.
Two if you mean having less than 1/6 of your powers available and still getting a death sentance more often than not when mezzed, yes. -
[ QUOTE ]
I agree, though that if it is giving an unacceptable rate of reward, they need to do SOMETHING about it
[/ QUOTE ]
Interesting statement. -
[ QUOTE ]
Blasters just don't measure up to other ATs.
[/ QUOTE ]
They measure up quite well against defenders. Then again is there anyone who thinks defenders don't need some buffage ?
You are quite right though about blaster reaction to higher hitpoint critters.
If you look at the hit point distribution
Minion: 430
Lieutenant : 855
Boss: 2570
Blasters deliver good damage as long as they alive, well to kill a boss you have to stay alive six times as long as a minion.
Seeing as blasters in general have little in the way of built in mitigation and as you go up in level it gets harder and harder to land your damage playing a blaster gets harder and harder. -

Simple solution: Stop trying to fight them, and let people make all the farms they want. Then allow people to tag their mission as "Farm" or "not Farm". This will allow people to filter out farms if they don't want to see them, and everyone can play their own way and be easily able to find the types of missions they want.
[/ QUOTE ]Problem: Apparently the DEVS don't consider Farms and Farming in MArch acceptable. Period. You're going to have to convince THEM, first.
(I'm using Farms and Farming in the usual, high-reward/minimum-time usage, not in the "anything can be farmed" usage.)
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL the only way the devs will ever get rid of farms in MA, is they implement another round of reward/xp nerfs.
But they don't seem to be interested in reality -
After seeing what was done to psychic shockwave I am really not sure I want the kind of tradeoff that comes with this buff.
Do you really want a higher damage blazing bolt if it means blaze gets nerfed -

No one's perfect. In this case, Mod8 has been very, very wrong to let this continue. At first, it was funny, but he really should have deleted it by this point.
If it weren't against the rules to call you a forum troll, I'd call you the biggest forum troll in forum trolling history.

I wasn't aware of what was considered in those beta tests, but even so, seems a little overpowered to me too
Goes to show a lot more people are happy with the status quo than I thought and maybe appreciate the fact they're not as easy to master as some ATs
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't make that conclusion based on the forums. Not saying its right or wrong just that the forumites are an extreme and very biased sample -
Well reasoned post, problem is it will do about as much good as a well reasoned argument during Crystal Nacht, Samhein, or the bonfire of the vanities. The anti-farmers are enjoying being the south ends of northbound donkeys and they won't stop saying horribly stupid things untill the dust settles and everyone is worse off for where this has gone.

My answer to this is that *bad* blasters faceplant more.... I'm also one of those
silly guys that said "Defiance is dumb" from the very minute that they raised the idea.
I'd add that blasters who frequently get to the point where defiance even applies....
are playing the AT poorly (imho)...
Further, I'd also wager that they are, unsurprisingly, most often the ones who end up
padding the faceplant statistics...
[/ QUOTE ]
Color me baffled.
Defiance comes into play every time a foe lands a mezz on me - that's pretty often. My Mezz resistances are high enough that I typically can continue blasting away with 3 solid attacks (thanks to Defiance) without using a Break Free.
Oh, incidentally, I hardly ever go down (only happens when I mess up against an AV, really).
[/ QUOTE ]
Well even if he is just talking about the damage boost its off the wall. Unless you are a one shotting spawns you are going to be seeing defiance come into play in a big way. -

With one addition, this could be awesome.
Let this be the case for a month, and then when all the farmers are settled and easily identifiable by their tags, the GMs can have one weekend of mass account-banning.

Sounds good to me. You probably won't like the aftereffects. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yep.. When there is a group of self-appointed "farm police" going around looking to report as many arcs as possible that don't meet their standards, and on top of that petitioning players who even mention the word "farm" in broadcast, I have little to no desire to bother with MA.
[/ QUOTE ]
There are still fun and enjoyable missions of types the developers don;t bother to make. All boss high difficulty mission are lots of fun. Massive spawns of ambushes are loads of fun. Then there are the danger rooms that throw everything you can take at you and keep doing it till you dropp
Enjoy it while you can, if the developers give the idiots free reign you know its time to find a new game -

Fix the defendable "objects" then mate. It is an outlier and should go the way of the other outliers. That is specific and needed, the rest of the suggested by the OP is feldacarb and is not.

In this case I really hope you all don't get what you are wishing for. While it would amuse the heck out of me to see authors going nuts because a nice feature got nerfed at their own insistence, I happen to enjoy fighting waves of lieutenants or bosses around objects.

I have not seen anyone use the term "any kind of story", I have used "a story" and there is a difference even if small.
Quick example of "any kind of story" that would most likely be banned:
Lewt City: Run the map get and many tickets as possible, click glowies etc. HAVE FUN.
BANNED.
Quick example of "a story" that would most likely NOT be banned:
Lewt City: Mynx is being held somewhere in this ruined city. You and your team of heroes have been called to rescue her asap. More story more story etc.....
NOT BANNED.
Same map, same objectives different story. Not rocket science here.
[/ QUOTE ]I completely agree. I've just seen posts implying that even a token story would be sufficient to prevent banning. I don't believe it either, just being cautious in my phrasing.
[/ QUOTE ]
This gets funnier. Now there are schools of criticism associated with M.A. ?
What are the criteria of literary success here ? Or are the people that go around giving 4s and 5s to missions to ignorant to know they shouldnt enjoy them because they are farms.
