  1. Oh that is awesome! Excellent work!

Can someone point me to where to buy the new booster pack? I can't find it on the playNC site. Or is it only available for Mac still?

    Thx,

Where it says "buy now". It's open for both PC and Mac use. If you're already on a PC, all it'll do is tag your account for the goodies and an extra month of payment, and add one folder to your COH directory which is unused on a PC.
  3. If you're on a Mac, you should probably take this to either the Mac-forum area below, or the tech area (also below). You need to give a lot more information such as which client, whether you're on a mac or pc, what else is running, and the like.

    Good luck to you!
  4. They are pretty big, yeah.

I decided to remake a katana scrapper into a dual blades, the way she was supposed to be but we didn't have them yet.

    Clio the first

    Clio the remake
I used the biker jacket and certain Valk accessories, I really love the Shoulder 3 option.

    Then, here's my Phoenix
I like how the skirt option makes it SORT of look like a feathered tail

Now if only the face options could be multiplied, because while I like the headwings, I want her to have both that and her jester nose/bird beak too.
  5. MMORPG's COH "correspondant" has been very, very slow and very, very confused about things recently... Their last "informative guide" was about something that hasn't been the same since 2 issues ago, so ... a bit slow on the uptake, and/or maliciously trying to confuse things. They're not informed very well, for whatever reason. I was going to try correcting them, but I couldn't get on my mmorpg account for some reason...
  6. [ QUOTE ]
No... He meant that if you used it to create a new account, you would have 12 slots per server.

There are still people who created their account with a basic CoH package after the combo amnesty date.
THEY have 10 slots per server, I believe.

Ex meant that adding this package to your lower slot account will not take you up to 12 slots per server.

ETA: pending further clarification, I might be wrong. . . (see the next post.)
    .

    [/ QUOTE ]

Everyone who plays this game has 12 open slots on every server, with the potential to buy or claim up to 36. There has never been 10 on a server. Only 8 for each COH and COV separately, 12 when you put them on the same account, and 12 ever since they opened both sides to all accounts.

I'm not actually sure why they feel the need to put that information on the page anyway, because "up to 36 characters per server" sounds far better than "twelve". Marketing ... *cough* needs to get on that...
  7. Maybe they're sucking nutrients out of the air like baleen whales take water and filter it...

    >_>

Or they're like tapirs, their mouth is just not quite visible very easily under their snout.
  8. Well here's this. I used Armor Pads and Sinister as the two main sets, and added the Valk 3 shoulder pieces.

I wouldnt change a thing. That costume looks awsome.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think so too. I like the goggles, they're a lot of fun. Goggles up give a feeling of 'well, I'm off duty- HEY!' While having them down is more 'serious business'. I like them both.

Why do you not have both?
  10. Do you have any of the costume packs/special sets you can only get by buying them? (Sinister/Justice, the Valkyrie, Cyborg, Wedding packs.)

Is he huge or normal sized? And is there any preference for skin tone, how much skin is showing, etc?
  11. I think the costume options - as there are way more than just enough to fit "one" - are far, far better than the Cyborg pack, really. Far more of a full bunch of options. I do wish there were a couple more weapons options but really there are plenty of those already and most work very well with this set.

Also, in my observations in the screenshot area, this set blends better with other existing sets, whereas the Cyborg pieces don't.
  12. Two heroes are speeding across IP. One is using 3 speed enhancements and the other has an IO set. Which one of them begs for a teleport to their mission door first?
  13. The pack is cheaper versus "buying another month plus the perk pack" - a month = 15, the perk pack = 10, 15+10=25. Mac pack = a month and perks. The mac pack = 20.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Ok, so excuse the dumbness of me, but I want to make sure I understand this... cheaper to buy the set because of one month of free game time as $20<$25...

How does the one month free work for those of us that are automatically billed each month for playing? Would it just not bill me for the next month? Or would I not really get that perk? Otherwise, I WANNA BUY IT NOW! lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know if anyone else has answered this for you, but it just extends one month in your billing cycle. Mine was due in April, now it's due in May.
  15. [ QUOTE ]

If true, this is a HUGE step back from what we were told. And rather disappointing.

I don't think you'll be lacking for people who will buy the pack, it's clearly a better bargain than buying just the add-ons, and they're cool add-ons. But does this mean that if someone buys the Mac client, they can't use the PC client?

I hope this is not true. I suspect, if it is, it's how transgaming will get paid for their work (which they've done a good job for), but highly disappointing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I just bought it for my PC, my PC works fine. Got the items, etc. No issue with the current client accepting the upgrade code.

I don't know if a NEW client on a PC would be correct. But if you've got a new customer on a PC they should just buy the gve and upgrade later.

For all of you folks wishing to grab the special in-game items that come with the Mac Special Edition

    [/ QUOTE ]

you mean pc users?..im confused..if im not on a mac then wouldnt i be a pc user?

if i buy this for my pc it will work?..and my paid time is up on the 21st..will this go into effect the 21st for the free month?

your words arent clear for me...can i use this or not on a pc for accounts already working or am i buying a new account?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It works on the PC now and it saves $5 over the cost of waiting the 2 months since it comes with a free month of game time. When you purchase the serial code it gives you the option of applying it to your existing account or to create a new account.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Wait wait wait....

I thought it was only supposed to be good for the Mac for the next couple months (hence the use of the word "exclusivity" in the announcement)?

So... a clarification is in order I think.

** Can this 19.95 be used for an existing PC account NOW?
** Does this 19.95 payment include the free month for an existing PC account?

** Or, is this going to be a code that can only be applied to an existing account on a MAC?

....Color me confused, I will buy it no matter what, but I don't want to get stuck with a mac code I can't use on my pc, and I also don't want to help piss off Mac users if I am getting something in advance of what I ought to be if it's a bug in their billing process.

Yeah, that's an interesting subject, Zekiran.
I hadn't ever thought of it from the standpoint of the major sales of original cels.
Heh, I wonder how much of a blow that may have been for Disney (Maybe they'd have to sell off a tiny bit of the world that they own).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think Disney would give up something they've been doing for fifty years if they were making less money in the new medium.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The people at the comic con that year who deal in animation cells were up in arms, actually. It doesn't particularly hurt Disney - but the animators who kept their cell work and such, individually, very much so.

Many animation studios - including Disney - used to either burn, throw out, or scrub and re-use animation cells. So, a lot of those "middle era" Disney films such as Jungle Book and those around the mid to late 60s, have extremely few if any cells left to see physically. Times were tight. Thus, they drove up any price on the few that are left - into the 10s of thousands for certain films.

For myself, regarding how much it's "worth"... I would always give a trump to traditional art over digital. The "complete finished package" is generally great to look at either way, however I can't justify 250$ to *print out a file*. I have paid more than that for individual pages of artwork (mmmm, John Cassaday...) but if they'd worked exclusively digitally there would be no "product" at all.

I remember the days in the early 90s when they were juuust changing over from hand-coloring to digital colors. Some of the earlier books were *horridly* scanned, it looked like a lot of them went through a fax machine instead of a more quality art-scanner. But technology moved ahead very quickly, and at this point I don't even know anyone who knows HOW to hand-color (ie: hand-separate colors to put onto the print platten) let alone use that technique with any talent.

Computers have made it very quick and easy to both color AND print, but I think it's also a tradeoff for the above reasons of having something "real" in your hands to hold.

I like some webcomics, but there are only a few that I'd ever consider buying in a hard-copy. On the other hand, Girl Genius (one of those two or three) I hate how it had to make a transition from paper to web. Sure, they reprint the volumes after the story's done online now, which saves them money... but I would really rather have a monthly (bimonthly... quarterly... biannually...whatever) comic book in my hands.
  18. Except that if they become famous... they cannot make any money with their original artwork sales.

It's like the mistake of going to an all-digital format for Disney movies. They made a hefty bundle selling cells from the movies. Until Beauty and the Beast. No backgrounds available = less profit on aftermarket resales from art collectors. Those things go for a LOT.

I don't know of any current professional comic artist (penciller) that uses a wacom instead of a pencil - I'm not talking about cartoonish webcomics, which I know there are a lot of them which actually have their work published after they've been on the web. But I mean, for actual print in a comic on a monthly schedule, things might have changed since I was working in the industry but I don't know of any fully-digital pencillers. And unfortunately I don't have money to buy any books so I don't bother shopping for them any more, so I'm out of the loop. However with that said: I know that the technology is WAY better these days than it was even 5 years ago when I was running the store. It wouldn't surprise me if there were some, but I don't know any myself.
  19. You can also buy an 11x17 scanner pretty inexpensively online, but the quality isn't always all that amazing for line art. Or, take it to a kinko's or other such office supply type place that has copy machines. They can usually stick it on a usb/flash drive if you have one and ask nice. or ask before hand, and find out how much they charge for that.

Getting even, perfect light is extremely hard when you're trying to use a camera. It CAN be done, but you're looking at having it be angled slightly, or with shadows in weird places, or with a flash burst from the camera interfering with the light level.
  20. Plenty of people use .5 lead in mechanical pencils (I know I do) but I know a lot of artists will use spiffier art pencils of different hardnesses and the like.

Doesn't seem to matter much, since the inker is gonna have to ink over it anyway.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
.. all my books say 11 x 17 for comic ..err.. GRAPHIC novel pages .. but is that the STANDARD?.. I cant imagine McFarlane or Jim Lee making such detailed art work on that size paper ..maybe I just need glasses

    [/ QUOTE ]

Comic book paper is 11x17 with an approximately 1/2inch border around the image area.

Jim and his inkers have always done that much work. They don't work any bigger, and I haven't ever seen them work much smaller unless at conventions, on backing-board paper.

So, "yup" it's 11x17 paper. Comics are shrunk from that size down to their current, so "that much detail" is actually far more than you'd ever realize from the little books.

Go to a comic convention if they have any in your area, and usually there are several sellers of artwork, pages from Jim would likely fetch 150-500 a piece.

*gloats* I've got an original of one of my characters by him, from years ago... xmas present from him.
  22. Yikes. yeah if I waasn't in the negative on my checking account I'd want to help
  23. No one gives money back on mmo's. That's kind of a stretch to presume anyone would.

lol actually it's funny because they're called SO many different things. Cougars, mountain lions, puma, panther, etc etc. When I went to look up Puma to get a reference picture online, all I got was a ton and a half of clothing ads from the Puma company... :/
