Rock_Eagle: If you do find characters that think they're better than everyone not to your liking, perhaps GG isn't for you. There's a few characters there with those views, one of my ones before reforming attested that he was superior to mere humans. Though an idea would be to observe for a bit, and then see which characters to approach and which to not.

That's 2 mentions of CoV on its own, and four of mentioning both games.

It's not us 'clamping our jaws down', it's us getting irate when someone doesn't seem to listen to what we're saying and just keeps going on about a glorious rule system lifted from SWG. It's us getting fustrated when we say that there's already one location-fixed community, and other RP SG's out there, and getting no response to that.

We've bought up critisms of the general rules proposed (Based on what we've seen of the original SWG set, players who were part of that and our own opinions), and we've bought up critisms of the GG community as well (That it's not for all types of RP'ers.)

Another example of God modding is:

Character A punches Character B on the nose, breaking it and causing blood to gush everywhere.

The proper way is:

Character A swings a punch at Character B's nose.
Character B ducks out of the path of the fist/Character B winces as the fist pummels his face, nose gushing blood as it is broken.

Deep roleplay? That's not everyone's taste. Some of the best moments I've had in game are the light RP talks between characters, purely social. No saving the world, no dire threats, just good friends and aqquaintences talking. High Quality is subjective, as well. Your definition, mine, the guy in the hat's and the Queen's are all going to be different.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Cause otherwise you just tighten the screws too tight and then get in a right mess when you need to change something inside. Or smack something with a screwdriver and break that. Then you get those little fiddly plastic bits that break and you can't stick them back.

What will? You keep going on about this fantastic ruleset to make RP better, save pandas and cure cancer, but when it comes to seeing this ruleset it's as existant as Duke Nukem Forever. On the Phantom console.

Agreeing with the sentiments so far. At GG, and I'm sure other RP groups on CoX, common sense is the way of play.

Such simple things as respecting others, always asking through a tell before doing something that could really screw a character up, knowing that actions have consequences, asking when unsure of what to do, observing for a bit before really joining in, giving it a few days before deciding whether to carry on or go elsewhere, keeping IC IC and OOC OOC, all those sorts of things that apply to real life.

City of Heroes was my first proper RP experience. I'd done a bit before in Ragnarok Online and over IRC, but since CoH I've pretty much been there since, RP'ing away. No one's perfect, everyone makes mistakes. I've made more mistakes than I can count on digits on my body, but I've learned from them.

As what others have said, a unified ruleset wouldn't work in City of *, it's not like Star Wars Galaxies, superhero/villains come in all shapes and sizes, gaining power from different places. Trying to make a rule about that would just reduce creativity. GM's to move plot along wouldn't work well, having no tools to hand to do so and relying on missions which can't be altered or changed. Claiming a city zone wouldn't work. Really, it wouldn't, and it'd be a silly idea. Heroes live all over the city, from Founder's to King's to Atlas and Steel Canyon. What would happen with non RP'ers in there? Being told to leave as they aren't an RP'er?
