(wtf is fparn and why would any sane person use it)

This is a cool story. But I gotta ask - you were in marketing. Didn't you just twiddle your thumbs all day and occasionally eat the heart of a kitten to break up the monotony of doing nothing? :P

    I...

It is so not wrong to cry, man.

Hey, I remember you, you fixed my computer once I think.

/you've probably been told that a million times

... I seriously just did the slash thing purely subconsciously, I'd forgotten you used to do that.
  4. So we've established that you folks don't actually care about the developers of the game - it really comes down to you getting your CoH fix. Evidence: My question elicited responses of "ONOZ THEY MIGHT CHANGE THINGS", not "That'd be freakin' BS! Those poor devs!"

So much for the sense of community.
  5. Here's a question to ponder:

If SOE gets their hands on the game, but decides to ditch every single developer that has worked on the game - do we still consider this a good thing?

And combat was not the only thing with equal footing in the game. Full craftsman or entertainers could have their very own worth and game sessions without a single bit of combat, if they wished)... plus you could combine combat and noncombat professions and very successfully dip in all fields...
So, 33 professions (approx. 3.5 professions on one character)... plus you could drop skills and learn others any time back and forth as much as you wished/changed your mind...
And they announced, two weeks ahead of time, directly after another paid expansion for the game... That it'd be chopped down into just 9 simple professions (really classes) with zero options of different skills within those classes (minor options were added later on, but nothing major).
Whole professions were removed. Including a profession that had a bunch of new features added with the new paid for expansion!

I just like spelling out some of the numbers so there's no confusion.
This was not some overreaction of "They changed the game and RUINED it!"... This was not simply ED.

They took away chess and made it only checkers.

Anyway... regardless of my own boycott of them, they may not be all bad these days...
    *gets garlic*

A part of me would rather see CoH die than have its memory mangled. Death with dignity and all that.

The most perfect example of not listening to the players you can find.
And we're excited about these vampires sinking their venom-laden fangs into the soft flesh of our vibrant little flower of a game?
  8. What happened at SWG that has everyone so turned against Sony, anyway?

Yes, but in this economy, I'm afraid they may have a lot of waiting to do :|
  10. I actually will. I always thought the blue caves were pretty cool looking, even though functionally they were a nightmare. Certainly better than the drab brown caves everywhere else, spacious though they were.

SEE! And people said I was crazy when I said they were nickle-and-diming us when the first booster packs came out!

Everybody laughed then, but who's laughing now?!! That's right - MOI!

    Also, this video was awesomesauceness.

Such nonsense. Why have a ******* F2P option if you're not supposed to be freely playing. You really think most of those people would still have played without the F2P option?

It's like movie/game/music piracy. Most of the people who download would not have purchased anyway. The industry loses nothing, yet they still get the blame for financial collapse.

No excuses here. When you've walked a mile in my shoes, maybe you'll understand my reasoning for cancelling. Honestly, you make it sound like I, a business exec, withheld a tithe from my bonus money that could've saved your damn Grandma. In reality, I, a diabetic college student with thousands in medical bills who needs constant insulin in order to survive, cannot and could not afford to pay for a game that I would not have been playing anyway due to time constraints.

Guess I'll be happy I killed your game too. ENJOY WOW BUDDY BOY

To be fair, if it were really as we see it, then they wouldn't have made the decision. There is some other factor - perhaps the "investment-to-return ratio" mentioned previously. That, I think, is the most plausible of the "money"-type theories.

I know plenty of college students working multiple jobs while attending college full time, maintaining high grades and supporting a family to boot and maintaining their video game habits.
They're not engineering students, I'll tell you that.

Edit: Oh and that $15 bucks is 72 packs of Ramen noodles or 72 meals. That $15 bucks buys me food for almost 2 1/2 months.
You would live on one packet of Ramen noodles per day? Freakin' stupid people.

Also, I'm type-1 diabetic, I have dietary needs that can't be met by a Ramen-a-day diet. Admittedly, no human being on Earth could survive on one Ramen per day, so I think you're being pretty damn disingenuous for the purpose of argumentation.

On the plus side, if indeed I and others like me "killed the game", I'll at least be depriving you of your source of enjoyment. Judging from your posts, that seems like a pretty worthy goal in and of itself.

    Whiny excuses don't fly.
You know what fifteen bucks is to me? A week's worth of food. I'm a college student. I have to pay in thousands and thousands and even more thousands to rent, tuition, books, my medical bills, and other expenses. No whiny excuses here. If I'd sustained my subscription, I would literally not be here right now. It came down to me having about a hundred dollars in the bank when I moved down here to Austin, and that's only because a friend gave me five hundred. So in short, just because you have a "fixed income" doesn't mean you were at the bottom of the rung. I was - because I had no income.
  23. THANKS FOR THE SPOILERS...

I keed, I keed. But seriously, if I hadn't already watched it, I would've been mighty angry.
  24. How do you know "many" didn't? Premium accounts sucked. They were flat out, unadulterated crap compared to a VIP. I highly doubt many people were long-term premium subscribers. And frankly, if the "deadbeats" were really "deadbeats", then they didn't require an ounce of development time because they would never have purchased any of the new sets. They were warm bodies on your teams, and that is invaluable.
