You do realize that they upgraded the servers a few times since ED? Right? Right? That what used to be two dots is now one dot?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Counting though guardian was more dots then freedom then. I would have to say we had more. Are we had bad server ether way i joined b/c it WAS the freedom of its day.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to bed. You remind why trying explain something to a brick wall is useless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A singing pig will fly over your head on a bicycle with a fish, before brewha will get it, good night
  2. It's a simple fact, dude. Dots are meaningless today as they were then.

You may have logged on at a time when one outnumbered the other, but I assure you Freedom was always the most heavily populated AND load bearing of the servers, since the start of the live game.

<-- checks date - yup, been playing DAILY since then, during American Prime hours, so I've seen the servers light up.
  3. No, it wouldn't, and if you are going to say that you need to produce FACTUAL information backing you up.

Petitions go to Game Masters. They are the guys who work 24/7 to help people get unstuck, find glowies, and get enemies out of the woodwork.

Bug reports go to the Dev Team. They are not going to be dealt with on an immediate basis, like the Petitions are.

And - obviously, your whining about something not holding as much as something else needs to be backed up with facts. If there were a thousand people claiming an issue with theirs that doesn't work AS INTENDED, they might look into it. If it's just you, or just one person of any complaining bent, they'll chuckle and wonder what it is you're smoking to get the results you are getting.
  4. Petitions are different than bug reports. If you would read a little more carefully you would know this.
  5. No, Freedom was the freedom of its day. It being the Beta server and all...
  6. lol Oh yeah I forgot about the RWZ for zoning.

Back in my day, we only had two trams and no stations in Founders Falls...
  7. I remember someone - redname - saying that pretty much all but one or two stayed with the studio. Remember they were short handed even then, not as dramatically as before, but still.

I agree with the OP. With certain games coming out with 100 times more customization then CoH Ever will, the Devs might want to step it up a bit. It doesn't help that the people designing 'that' game created this one, and know how to top it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Actually, no. They didn't.

The City Of people have been working on City Of. They all stayed with NC when Cryptic split away from them to work on Marvel. The people working on Marvel were, to my knowledge, never the same as those working for City. Plus, the hirings at Paragon Studios have ensured new blood coming in, whereas we do not know who the developers are of CO / Marvel and might never... They might be experts, they might be complete and total nubs. To my recollection there were very few if any crossover employees.

And still remains the fact: just because they might be doing something - regardless of how cool you might think it is? Doesn't mean this game must do so to "keep up". That other game - and any future releases for that matter - will have to keep up with City of Heroes. Which, I would like to remind you has a 5 year *live* history, and devs who actually are responsive and very real people.

I can't say as much about any other game.

Oh - wait, one of my friends does work for Blizzard on WoW. But he was hired only a couple years ago, and wasn't on the dev team.
  9. You will want to read and perhaps repost this in Sexy Jay's costume thread up in the Dev area. They do read that thread. Not so much here. If you do a search for some of your ideas, you'll find many of them have explanations as to why they aren't in the game.
  10. 1 - Yeh, that would be nice. However, I strongly suspect it will require the re-doing of the entire hero-side mission method. I don't envy the dev who gets that assignment...

2 - The trams are fine the way they are. If you're not in a supergroup with a base transport system, you're missing out. Get to level 10, make a sg, pad it a little, or join one with the existing units. You can literally go anywhere in moments.
-- Also, Oroborous transport does this, to certain zones. Very quick, very easy.
-- Also, Pocket D transporter with the GVE edition accolade, gets you to major zones with conections to easy other transport options.

3 - No. Why? Why would they need that when there are more than enough people on every server pretty much at all times of day to form a tf? Or, better yet, a forum (here) where you can PLAN one and get people in advance? There would be absolutely no reason to implement something like this.

4 - There are plenty of threads about co-oping the Shard, it's not something I'm against but it doesn't make a lot of sense unless they put some heavy duty story into villains being able to get there.

5 - Search for the reasons we don't have those already.

6 - ... Do you not know you can get temporary powers and craftable recipes for some things? And, "team recall" - vet power. Got it. They'd be fun, but frankly with the vetran rewards that many folks are coming up on, 3 of those are moot - team recall earlier, and the 60 month vet reward which allows you to choose a travel power without the prerequsite.

Anyway, some good ideas, but mostly stuff that's been hashed out already. You might want to hit Paragonwiki for the information you're missing.
  11. But it still fails to be a good idea no matter HOW many 50s you have.

** By leveling individually, and not being allowed to powerlevel (too much anyway), each character represents a chunk of time spent by a player. Players must spend money on the game. Therefore, allowing players to skip that time they'd normally spend in the game, would be ... skipping money. No profit in that, sorry.

** By leveling a bunch of 50s, if you're not already *good* at it, going past the lower levels won't help. If you ARE already good at it, the lower levels are great for drops, salvage, and making sure your build is what you want it to be without burning a respec. Or two. Or three.

** If you've got a 50, and spend some time at it, by the time you're ready to level another character (provided you aren't just alting everywhere like a lot of us are) there may very well be new content or changed content that you missed the first time around. I know that I outleveled pretty much everything every time I started a new dedicated character - hollows? Winterlorded through it. Striga? Just missed it with that same character. Croatoa? Already 50 on that toon, too low to get there with anyone else. New Faultline? Thankfully I slowed myself down to get that content on my 3rd 50.

So... those are just a couple of the many, many reasons why it wouldn't be a good idea.

yeah it was so evil seeing all my old friends come back to the game. I hated it so much, those evil bastards in daoc! How dare they make there game fun!

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, the point was that it wasn't fun. It didn't work. It FAILED there.

So to the OP: /no. Just ... no.

    A movie

.... Several years ago the COH licence was already picked up for a movie. Search is your friend, even if you have to use Google for it. No progress seems to have been made on said film, but the licence is already out there.

    Lyrics? Here you go -

    When the going gets tough
    And the stomach acids flow
    The cold wind of conformity

    When some trendy new atrocity

Come with us we'll sail the

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh GREAT, now I have that bass line going through my head. THANKS.
  15. Well, I think "glowing chest emblems" would be good - whether you get them at 10 or not, not so sure.

Level 10 - can make a supergroup, can properly sidekick someone, very little else. (I usually wait until level 10 to get my Halloween salvage costume slot.)
Level 20 - new costume slot, cape mission.
Level 30 - new costume slot, aura mission.
Level 40 - new costume slot
    Level 50 ... profit?

SOMEWHERE in there would be nice, though I would say it should go with the gaining of a new costume slot since the other effects are done that way and it might confuse people who are just getting their character built up. Level 10 isn't really very high, so much more of the game is ahead of them. I'd say 40, really, because there's not much more else after that.

And shouldn't be FORCED to buy transfers are start over to get same Game Play

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Um... yeah.

    Right.

You get the same game play as everyone does. Time passes. Things change, if you don't change with them, that's not our fault nor the game's. This is not a static, single-person flash game that is always the same whenever you play it. It's grown. You haven't. If you want a team, make one.
  17. Because you are supposed to do what Mod8 has told you, and discuss this in the FARMING THREAD he started for that purpose. Or did you miss it? His name's in red. It says official.

    Go play there.

Triumph is my home. Yeah we have a smaller population than Freedom but man we are fun. Beside, we have the title of the pantless server! I'm very proud of that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This, combined with Eis' post before yours, make me worry.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Not just that, but it also included text you might have typed up to that point. It wasn't uncommon to see people saying "wwwwwwweeeeeqqqqeqwesssssdsdadddHi" in globals.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which was also funny. Reading other's binds was pretty amusing, because sometimes it would add whole new meanings to their comments depending on which key they had their chat bound to...

Why have lower servers when its peoples fault that they chose champion or protector

    [/ QUOTE ]

    "Fault?"

    *ahem*

I chose Protector back in october of 04 as my true home server after bouncing around on Freedumb, Infinity, Triumph and other servers. I chose it because a group of us from my store, customers and coworkers, had all gotten into COH and realized we could make a great fun supergroup there for just us.

Supergroup's still there, got a nice base, only a couple active players, since a lot of us broke up after a while, and the person who suggested the group has passed away. I keep his character in the group, in honor of him.

I find no fault here. I love my friends on Protector, I love the fun that we have there, as an intimate family of silly people. My server was heavily represented at the first hero-con (well, the meet n greet that prototyped it), far more so than anyone could have imagined. We've got a happy couple that met in the game and proposed at the next hero con, about to be married next week. I'm extremely proud to be on "lol protector" the little server that could.

    Fault?

    Feh.
  21. You realize that there already ARE AE buildings in almost every zone in the game, right?
  22. Hehehe, yeah I keep thinking I should try more in that game. I made a fighter but I didn't save or log it in, so I guess I'd have to start over. I'm more a kind of Boomshine or Clickz flash type.
  23. I think you aren't able to understand the word "fair".

If others get on teams and do missions, they get xp and drops.

If you get on teams and missions, you get xp and drops.

It's not a race, this is not a game where you must get to the top in order to do anything.

It's fair that every team has scaled drops that go according to their size and difficulty. What in the world does that have to do with whether YOU can get yourself on a team or not?

You are extremely confused, about how the game is designed to be played. You're also confused about the other people playing - some of us like the pace at which we level. Many don't feel that leveling to 20 is a 'grind' in any way. Because we're having too much fun running around beating the crap out of enemies and dinging every couple hours at least. Hell, every few minutes if you have half a clue how to street hunt while going to missions.

Street hunting isn't very possible inside the MA is it! Finding non-farm teams IS harder but won't be any more. People played this game the 'long way' around for 5 years. We can handle it now, with or without the MA, and with or preferably without the farms.

There is no need for readjusting anything for 'smaller' servers. You don't know how many people are on any given server, the only thing that is important is exactly the size of your team. Doesn't matter if it takes 5 minutes or an hour to build a team, once that team is going, you get what everyone else with a team that size gets. Fair.

Changing the numbers to meet your desires to powerlevel without a big team? Unfair.
