  1. And I'm looking to start a new scrapper.

Already decided on one and that's a Kat/SR, but I'm stuck between 2 secondaries to pair with Willpower: These are Fire/ Spines/, looking for something that stands well solo and can also decimate groups when I need to generate Inf.

I know that Fire/ probably has the better single target attacks and that Fire Sword Circle is an awesome mob killer, but does the combo of Spine Burst/Quills out shine it?

That confirms what I was thinking then, i'll head back to the drawing board and start again...cheers for the quick reply.
  3. I've decided on a Elec/WP Superspeed scrapper and was toying with builds in Mids, trying to get as much global recharge out of sets as possible....but i've reached 40% and it won't go any higher. Looking at the totals, its saying that i've exceded the 5 limit on set bonuses and that they've marked them as cap'd.

But I don't see why i've reached the cap limit, for example: it says that my Obliteration sets are over the cap, yet I see it as only having 3 sets. Does it count the rule of 5 as anything that carries the same set bonus, for example: 2 different sets on to different power types carry a global recharge of +5%...so that counts as 2 of the 5, because they both give the same bonus.

This is the build i've gotten so far (Its incomplete):

If someone could look at the build and explain where its gone wrong, its would be great...also any suggestions to powers/slots/sets are always welcome.

    Cheers.
  4. Was looking more towards a constant stream of HP, rather than all of a sudden giving a boost to HP.....so looks like its gunna be Willpower, which was my first choice anyway.

    Cheers.
  5. Basicly i'm wanting to build a scrapper whos sole power is insanely increased metabolism, giving near umlimited health and endurance....now I know the 2 front runners here are Regen and Willpower, but was wondering which one would be better?

They both have Fast Healing, Health and will be taking Physical Perfection....so to me its really down to Intergration or Rise to the Challenge (not including Instant Healing as wanna see whats better without without extra clickies). Would a slotted Intergration be better than a slotted RttC surrounded by 10 minions, or vice versa?

Also to me, Willpower seems to have more versatility when it comes too IO sets...possibly leading to +regen set bonuses.

Here's my changes. You are softcapped to everything, have 45% S/L resistance and an extra 12.5 recharge. Nothing here should be terribly expensive, except for the rare salvage required for the BotZ pieces, but you can get those for AE tickets.

(edit) Took out red fortune in Battle Agility to put some slots in health.

I like this ....if you don't mind, I would like to use this build.

This is the reason, why its always a good idea to ask questions.

    Cheers.
  7. Right, i've had a little play and seem to given myself a headache (i'm not a numbers type of guy) and have come up with a build that has all the powers that I want, reached soft-cap on all 3 positional defences and given myself little extras here and there....mainly Recharge and Accuracy (altho I have no ideas on how much it'll cost).

This is by no means perfect, I expect....but feel free to tear it apart and make other suggestions:

I tend to use Taunt quite a lot when teaming, or atleast like to have it there if aggro goes awry...its the first Tanker i've made, so didn't want to risk missing it.

Would Phalanx Fighting be skippable till lvl42? I could swap it with Weave at lvl35 and get that at lvl42 instead....but i'm assuming Weave would give the better defence buff at the cost of endurance.

I'll download Mids at some point today and see what I can make up....should be intresting at least, I have no idea on costs of sets...so will probably end up costing a gajillion inf
  9. Well I haven't got a planned build yet, haven't got the hang of mids....and because most of my toons just have basic IOs, I tend to wing most of my builds.

But the powers i've taken so far are:

    Super Strength:
Jab, Haymaker, Taunt, Knockout Blow and Rage.

    Sheild Defence:
Deflection, Battle Agility, True Grit, Active Defence, Against all Odds and Grant Cover.

    Other:
Swift, Health, Stamina...Air Supp, Fly and Kick.

I suppose I could drop Grant Cover for Sheild Charge and take Tough at 32, Weave at 35 and Stomp at 38.
  10. Cheers, I've already got kick from the fighting pool and was planning to pick up tough and weave at 32 and 35...pushing back stomp and shield charge to 38 and 41.

I'll stick with the current game plan then and try and build on my inf reserve and merits....see if I can get some recovery in there at some point.
  11. I've been playing my Shield/SS tanker a lot recently and I absolutely love it....the look, the feel (and the 2 handed shield uppercut), but does kind feel a little underpowered defence wise....probably not, but it feels that way to me.

So i'm thinking about making this toon the first one that I try to hit the soft-cap on defence, but have no real experience on set bonuses and when they should start being slotted. I'm currently sat at lvl31 and on basic SOs, was gunna swap to basic IOs at 32....so I could get the lvl35 ones.

Would it be better for me to invest said inf (about 100million'ish) into set bonuses now or hold out on IOs and tough/weave till the late 40s?

Also...how much would a build cost to reach soft-cap (like I said, no real experience)

    Cheers.
  12. DSorrow has sold me, was thinking of Invuln as its something i've never tried on a scrapper and reading through your guide has just convinced me that its an awesome thing to try.

    Cheers peeps.
  13. Been thinking of rolling another scrapper and decided to attempt a Katana build, this was the first character I tried nearly 4yrs ago...got it to lvl20 and never played it again, since has been deleted. The original was a Kat/Rgn...but would like to try something other than regen this time (already have a 50 regen).

Kind of limited myself to either, Willpower, Invuln or SR...I already have a high lvl Invuln Brute and a high lvl SR scrapper, so I know how those sets play...highest i've got for WP is a mid 20s brute. Just trying to get an idea on whats going to work well with Katana?

It's going to be purely PvE and solely built to play storyarcs...would like to try for as many merits as possible, as well as actually read the stories (something i'm still yet to do)...so in my mind I see it as a mainly solo toon, with occassional teaming for TFs.

So what are the pros/cons of either Invuln, WP or SR teamed with Katana?
  14. It seems to be taking ages to recharge, despite having 3Rch SOs in it....i'm sure that they used to effect the recharge time, have they changed it?
  15. Just dusted of my old MA/Rgn after a year or so of not playing him and was wondering what the best slotting for MoG is now, purely IOs and purely PvE play.
    Currently 6 slotted with 3Def 3Rchg.
  16. Awesome, i'll move Achilles and Lady Grey into the Mercs....would Soldier or Spec Ops be better suited, currently have soldiers slotted 2Acc 2Dam 2Heal (to help with O2 Boost) and the Spec Ops are just 2Acc 3Dam at the mo. I intend to move to sets once I reach about lvl37...currently lvl33.
  17. Just played as my Merc/Storm for the first time in a couple of months and noticed that I have a couple of 'Chance' procs slotted in a few powers and was wondering if I should use a respec and move them into other powers, I have:

Impeded Swiftness: Chance for Smashing Damage, slotted in Snow Storm...but can't say that i've ever seen it do anything.

Achilles Heel: Chance for Resistance Debuff, slotted in Freezing Rain...would this stack with Freezing Rains standard Resistance Debuff, or would it better slotted on one of my soldiers...say Spec Ops?

Touch of Lady Grey: Chance for Negative Energy Damage, also slotted in Freezing Rain...same as above really, i've seen it proc a few times...but would it be more suited in Mercs?

Explosive Strike: Chance for Smashing Damage, which I plan the slot in my Comando once I get the spare slot.

The main ones I want to know about are the Impeded Swiftness and Achilles Heel.
  18. Gratz to the runners up, but mostly to the winner KFC...t'was an awesome cossie.

    hello people

Wahey mate...good to see you back, the groups been dead without the drunken rabblings of a Scotsman. Catch ya in game.
  20. Cheers for all the response, Ice sounds like it'll be more up my street...Granite always looks cool, but honestly don't think I could live with the lack of pace.

Are there any powers that could/should be avoided within the Ice primary?
  21. For a long time, Tankers have been the only AT that i've never really been able to get to grips with...so once again, i'm going to give them another crack and see what sticks.

I've narrowed it down to either Stone or Ice primaries, as i've had the other sets on either a scrapper or brute and kinda want to play something new, but no real experience at these two sets.

What i'm kind of asking is, which of these powersets would be better/easier to get the hang of and introduce me to a world of tanking? Will be a PvE only build, SOs to start with possible frankenslotting at the late 30s...no expensive builds or sets.

I know what the secondaries are like, but plan to go with the primary counterpart (Stone/Stone or Ice/Ice).

    Any advice is welcomed.

Yup, awesome work...found a picture while you were replying, it goes to figure that the parts I was missing were in the only pack I don't have

I am surprised more people have not posted what they have made with the new pieces. For what its worth here is mine.

Alraune: The Plant/Thorns Dominator, now working for the Unity Vigil. The German girl is a blond bombshell, and makes the most of her figure hugging costume to draw the eye before delivering a thorough amount of whoop-tushie. Less is most definately more this season, and with all that skin bare there's plenty of places for her to sproud thorns and vines.

I'm trying to find this outfit, but blowed if I can see it, any help?

Come to think of it, there's a few costume pieces that I can find, looking at the PlayNC game page, the only one i'm missing is the Wedding pack...have they released other that are not listed there? (The main one that springs to mind, is a sort of cross between the one mentioned above and Angelic I think...may be wrong tho, only seen it once and never got a screenie.)
