Torrad, Brute, Dark Melee/Dark Armour/Mu Mastery
-
Id argue that but my build was dark/dark and these powersets will either compliment each other perfectly for you or drive you insane.
Bouncing into the middle of a bunch of mobs with Cloak of fear, waiting a second for the fear to stick then working your fury up, at about half fury good positioning will let me drop 2-3 +1/2 mobs (if well positioned) in 1 move... one move... worth thinking of. But again its personal opinion, but after running my brute since i started playing this game i've learnt to use this power properly (as i'd call it) and i've gotta say, that whilst at times the 3 second animation has caused me to face plant due to unexpected dmg its also saved me vast amounts of endurance and let me tell you when u hit 3-4 mobs at once with it, it'll give u a tingling feeling
In that sense i guess Shadow Maul is like Marmite, you either love it or hate it! -
now that was helpful! thats what i was looking for but now i need help with Dark Armour lol. Although i know what pwrs im going to pick and i know the build im going to try now, but its the slotting i think i may struggle with.
Do you know of any equally helpful guides to Dark Armour?
P.S. I've realised what i was doing wrong with slotting my attacks and the complete lack of hasten in my build (which id be thinking of picking up since i hit lvl 40 back months before I7 hit) but this is making me wonder if im slotting my armour incorrectly :S
thanks again Chaplain -
This is my build, and it works amazingly well for me in PvE...
To save time i'll make all the important ones italic...

Shadow Punch
Smite
Shadow Maul
Touch of Fear
Siphon Life
Dark Consumption
Soul Drain
Midnight Grasp
Dark Armour
Dark Embrace
Murky Cloud
Obsidian Shield
Dark Regeneration
Cloak of Darkness
Cloak of Fear (or oppressive gloom)
Soul Transfer

Hurdle
Stamina
Patron
Ranged high dmg power
Ranged AOE Immob power -
dont mean to sound ungrateful here chaps but this toon is practically level 50, im fully aware of the pros and cons tomost the attacks of DM, what im looking for here is ideas of PvP builds, specifically powers and methods of slotting them to make them strong in certain areas.
You talk about Dark melee like its easy to play, saying how it acc debuffs but i'll tell u this for free, it doesnt work like that in PvP. Dark's main weakness is its supposed strength. 1 Acc debuff is all it takes.
But maybe you know something about slotting i don't? This toon is fanastic in PvE but so far as i can tell is so weak in PvP its unreal, the only thing i can fight is tanks, everything else seems to just debuff my acc and then own me. -
Ok the topic says it all, basically need advice with powers and slotting for a dark/dark brute. So far as preference goes the following is a list of powers i cant see me coping without....
Dark Melee -
Smite
Shadow Maul
Touch of Fear
Dark Consumption
Midnight Grasp
I'm really stuck as to whether to include siphon life in that list as well...
Dark Aura -
The 3 resist auras which i cant remember the names too. The obvious 3.
Dark Regeneration
Other than that im not sure. I'm faily sure CoF is decent in PvP but i dont know if its best to go for the stun aura over CoF and then pick up the Dot Aura etc. Ideas for combo's is basically what i need here, and most importantly ays of slotting them so that its a fully effective.
Fitness Pool -
Hurdle, health (unslotted or would it be better to go for swift instead?) and stamina
Travel power -
Unfortunately i have to go SuperJump so...
Combat Jumping
Super Jump
Acrobatics
Patron - Sirocco (Mu)
Ranged attack is decent (top of the list and wouldnt mind keeping it)
Electrifying Fences (handy but only good in PvE i'd imagine?)
I'd also quite like to pick up Hasten if possible.
Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions anyone might have. -
I'm feeling really bad for all the COH players who say that performance in COV is bad...
Issue 7 will bring COH graphics to the same standard of COV, whatcha gonna do then? :O -
hate to sound like im picking but...
The first rule of writing is make your first and last sentences good. (Before i buy a book i read the first and last sentence of it)
"Angelica White is often being wrongly discripted as a woman obsessed by a demon."
discripted? - described?
'as a woman obsessed by a demon' - im not sure what you mean here, do you mean a woman possessed by a demon or obsessed with a demon?
Im only commenting on this because of what i said at the start of the post, after reading this i stopped reading.
Proof read and spell check in the future -
somethings which are maybe also worth remembering is that some typo's/grammar inconsistences may be part of the specific mobs 'personality' Might be worth to remember that somethings may be intentional
-
I would love to help you, i've seen countless typo's, spelling mistakes, and in some cases completely nonsensical sentences in story arc dialog. Only problem is i can't remember any of them.
Perhaps also using the location of the contacts which have the grammatically incorrect text would make life easier? Like for CoV you could list contacts in Port Oakes, Sharkhead etc?
I'll keep my eye out for Sharkhead + Zones in CoV as my stalkers there atm. -
Well the way i'd build it i wouldn't take CoF. Using a DArk/Dark Stalker for hit and run i'd rely on AS, Hasten, ToF, AS, Placate, AS (providing they get a placate skill which is almost certain right?) Of course that combo would only work for a 1v1 situation.
I might be wrong and i've only had 2hours sleep so if im talkin poop or something be gentle -
Tbh i don't have any major concerns with accuracy except when i have to fight CoT. I can fight +2/3 level critters on my DArk/DArk brute with ease.
Then i get a CoT mission, and oh boy does my face turn red. If I fight EQUAL level nerva demons and im as good as dead, i have no way of defending against they're 3-4 -acc debuffing attacks/heals and the second a D/D brute is -acc i cannot heal, dark consumption, hit with basic smash attacks, use my soul drain (buildup/Powerup move) Because they're all based on accuracy. all i can do is die, and hope that my self res keeps the damn demons stunned for long enough so that i can kill them before they start debuffing me all over again.
I mean seriously, what genious makes matching 'theme' based powersets which are so heavily reliant upon accuracy have a +acc move which requires u to have the damn accuracy increase before u can use it?
I said earlier that other mobs other than CoT aren't really a problem, thats not entirely true, i just cant remember which mobs i struggle with, but any which use -acc and especially COT who (whilst being strong against the melee smash dmg in the first place) have the ability to spam u with -acc making me nothing more than a high level Fan, maybe i'll get lucky next time and they'll catch a cold and drop dead whilst im on my way to the f***ing hospital! -
Badges can unlock "secret/hidden" contacts for special story arcs. Some badges unlock gladiators which is a pet based PvP zone accessed through the arena, other than them two things I cant confess to know of anything else which they unlock.

ive got a lvl 40 MM called Xylax thats interested. Global @Xylax

Well, from the POV of a Dark/DArk brute i'd say ins are fair game. I won't leave the zone to go get them, but i sure as hell need ACC ins and some Cabs/Respites or im done for.
1 Acc debuff will most likely make it impossible for me to heal (DA Heal = player based) Regain Stamina (again player based) use my version of buildup (yup u guessed it, target/player based) or utilise my main strength (sirens is lvl 30 malefactor zone so i rely on fear, most importantly the accuracy of my fear)
In short if i dont have acc ins i may as well exit the zone and safe myself the grief :P
Dueling in Sirens - that is arranging a 1v1 with no disruptions - is another story, and some ppl i've dueled think that because they have a full plate of ins, (normally regen scrappers) and that they pop a load of Lucks, Dmg/Acc ins and then use buildup fast healing etc that this is a fair fight. But i can't do jack with it except to kite around and fear them for a minute so that they've effectively wasted them :P -
Well im Dark/Dark so i kind of had to go superjump to get knockback protection. I'm playing with the idea of not getting any of the patron powers when I7 hits (unless there is a ranged attack one) and picking up SS/Hasten, CoD and Air Superiority
But my build is up to level 30 is...
Dark Melee
Shadow Punch
Smite
Shadow Maul
ToF
Dark Consumption
Soul Drain
Dark Armour
Dark embrace
Murky Cloud
Obsid Shield
Dark Regen
CoF
Travel Power/Other
Fitness - Health, Stamina, Swift
SuperJump - Combat Jumping, SJ, Acrobatics
I figure when Villains are in control i could use web grenades to snare the controllers etc, would this work? -
Ok i fairly enjoy PvP - i can handle most Scrappers and Tanks on my DM/DA Brute.
But... i have real difficulties handling people who fly/superspeed and controllers...
Anyone who plays a brute have an idea how to take down a Controller using a knockback aura (like hotfeet on a dominator i believe)? cause i cant get into melee with them, i cant fight ppl they're teamed with because they just get close enough to them to allow them protection from their aura as well.
Since Doms are few and far between in PvP teaming to get past it doesnt seem an option so do i have to continue running, like when i see a specific type of blaster heading towards me? -
Yo Kinslayer wouldnt mind getting these badges on my MM. I've got you on one of my toons friends list somewhere :P i'll drop u a line
-
Most helpful as always Max - ty
-
Ok - i have no idea what im doing.
Travel power? Will i need acrobatics? I was thinking of going SS and getting hasten. Is this advisable?
Fitness pool - Will i need Stamina/Health?
I have no idea how the post level 40 powersets really work as ive only played CoV up until today, so any advice here would be welcomed
Ty for any kind replies :P -
He means only the strong survive
Yea Check me out on either @Xylax or Torrad, Xylax, Tyroque
Were fairly active - got some new lower level members at the moment also, around lvl 9 i think so grouping shouldnt be an issue. Plenty of active/casual high end members also. Maturity is common in SG chat but if you venture onto our Vent server expect me to say random and controversal stuff to get a laugh... or try too -
Surely they're shouldnt be any weak powersets...
-
Ok, i hate to sound off like a complete newbie but... the difference between infamy and influence? I'm fairly sure i've got about 10mill on Xylax but i need to hold some back for when they patch with I7.
So i guess we can just arrange to meet and when i get bored of clicking etc then we'll count it up :P -
Yea i can help ya out. How much you wanting? I can handle losing upto about 3million on Xylax - only problem is i wont have Hero's until next week (working day delivery sucks) but i might be able to coerce my Hero mate to hold it for a few days
-
I think your'll find that if u team - that is to say help other people complete their missions also, that there is more contacts than you can handle.
If you chose not to team the way i handled it on my MM was to run paper missions constantly when i entered a new zone - take for example Sharkhead. I would unlock a contact, take the first mission then go back to paper missions, doing them by killing as little as possible. Then when i had all 3 contacts for the area you run the primary missions for all of them - until u can call all 3. By the time you've done this the chances are you will out-level some of the later missions in 1-2 of the arcs but then they'll give u a new contact each when you hit the level requirement, using this method my lvl 40 and lvl 39 brute have tons of missions left and some which i've skipped entirely.
