Until we meet again...

Well it was bound to come to this sooner or later. I am quite sad that it is happening MUCH sooner than I expected.

I was first introduced to City of Heroes through my older brother who bought it back in late December of 04'. I instantly fell in love with the game and basically hijacked my brothers account for several weeks. I was lucky enough to get my own copy of the game and created my account shortly after the new year of 05'. I am not ashamed to admit I spent my 20's playing City of Heroes.

My first official character on my own account was a Wolverine clone, named Raging Wolf. A Claws/Regen Scrapper who I played up until Regeneration saw it's first major nerf. After that I created two characters back to back. The first was my second and favorite Scrapper, Patriot America, the second was an homage to my favorite DC hero, Dr. Fate. Interestingly enough, Mystic Fortune was the first character I logged into after they introduced the global chat systems so that became my global. It has remained Mystic Fortune ever since.

I joined up with a great group of players who called themselves THE UNITED POWERS OF PARAGON later that year. I didn't know it at the time, but those great individuals would grow to be like a second family to me. I have been a member of the UPP ever since that faithful day.

Over the years I saw my SG mates leave CoH, some of them returned every several months, some others left permanently for other games or different ventures in life.. but we have kept in contact.

Nearly 8 years have passed since I joined City of Heroes. It has been an extraordinary experience, and I wish it didn't have to end... but as they say all things must come to an end. It feels me with great sadness to bring this post to a close. This game meant the world to me and I feel like a part of me will die on November 30th.

So I say, to our development team, and to all those I have interacted with in-game and on these forums. "Thank you, I am a better person today for having been a part of something great for the these last 7 some odd years."

"Until we meet again, may your travels in this world be safe..."

My Friend, Mystic

Thank you for all the wonderful times we have been able to share in our beloved city. As time gets closer to the coming storm of 11/30 I want to let you all know I am still around working on different projects here and about. The Sentinel of Liberty, American Valor will be ever present in Atlas with any and all our fellow heroes.

I will be holding the torch until they shut off the lights. I was here when this city launched and I will be here when it closes. This City has helped us all grow towards the heroes we want to be. It has helped us beconme the heroes we are.

I will continue to look for the hero in all of us. We are out there and we are many. I am American Valor and I approve of this message.

I wish i could say I stood by your side till the end.

I have been playing on and off for a while until issue 22 or 23 maybe. But with the time difference, and growing up and stuff, I found myself stranded, and pretty much alone when I found time to play. And unable to join you for the old all-night gaming session.

I've started playing during the beta, bought the game a month or two after release because I missed it (forgot about the game between beta and release). I've never, ever, found another game with people like you, another game where I felt both at home, and yet totally free. I don't think i ever will.

I want to thank you, every other member of the SG, and every member of the Liberty community I ever had the chance to meet for bringing me everything you brought me, and never disappointing.

I hope we will cross paths again, hopefully next time I'll be able to physically shake the hand you always extended my way.

Doc.

Where do I start.

When I joined the UPP it was my 2nd day of playing technically because I was up playing all night waiting for Edge to get off 3rd shift. We all got together and went to the hollows, where I learned that you don't fall down the hole if you are low level. Over the years Mystic I saw toons that you made that looked like they were action figures fresh out of the box. We were all proof that there was no excuse to have a name like Iron_dUDe_138. Even 8 years later we were getting great names and making even better costumes for those names.

I will always miss those members who left years ago, I honestly think I can remember them all. I will always remember the stompings we gave those dirty villains when bloody bay opened and in sirens call. We were truly the force to be reckoned with. But the all around best member we ever had, as far as names, backstories, concepts, designs and builds was you Mystic (sorry Edge ). From the UPP to Exploratory you always amazed me. Maybe that's why you got the favored buff named after you.

I know we will see each other soon, in either ESO or APB, but for anyone else trying to find me my Steam ID is either ECGhost or you can find the Dead West with the Adam Strange avatar.

I will miss this city for sure, but not nearly as much as I will miss it's protectors, lone wolves and super groups alike. You all made the last 8 years of my life meaningful and fun.

Thank you all.

Was always a blast teaming with you, Dead West and UPP. Still recall your jawdropping base that you took me on a tour of after that CC (that I brought the original Blue Eyed She-Devil to). PM me here with you're contact info, Steam, Diablo III, e-mail, or whatever and I'll try to keep in touch.

In the end, I leave you with this:

May your road be long and enjoyable, your companions be good company and never leave your side*, and may you have a warm fire and a hot bath at the end of the day.

And, as it seems appropriate, the ending to Dr Strangelove:

~Raven

*Unless they're kender, in which case, they'll be great fun and major pains in your backside all at once, and leave you're side OFTEN to go find some big barking dragon or orc horde to bring back to you to "share". Much like my two cats. Well, minus the fantasy monsters, anyways.

Even against certain death, it matters not how or if we fight, only that we do.

Most amusing complement I've ever been paid on an outfit, from @Ukase regarding my Blue Eyed She-Devil Anson Maddocs "Fallen Angel" homage:
"She gives my ex-wife a run for the money."

Mystic. It has indeed been a fun ride. You have been a Liberty stalwart, and a gem of creativity on the server. You have a great costume design sense and a similar grasp of the game and how to play it. It's been great crossing paths with your myriad heroes in numerous scenarios. I wish you well beyond the war-walls.
