See, Bone... this is what X-COM is about... moments like that. That's why I think the game is a worthy heir to the original.

I'm on what I think is the final mission, and it's pretty tough, if only because it's a big map, and I'm running out of medkits, and one character *has* to survive or you fail... and I'm on Ironman Mode.

Meh, I'll wait.

If you are liking Civ look into Warlock: Master of the Arcane. It is very Civ like in a magical real setting.

Horatus - lvl 50 Fire/Elec Blaster

Whew... just finished on Normal difficulty. I'm going to take a break before trying "Classic" difficulty.

Yeah, I kinda figured from the video that the big ship was the end game. I think my current run is hosed. I got one Psi troop & laser weaponry. Don't see how it would be possible to beat anything tougher than the overseer ship with my current tech situation.

I think I'm going to restart now that I have a better grasp of what is going on. I'll take my time, and just because something is listed "priority" doesn't really mean drop everything else.

My PC is acting up again, so back to my troubleshooting BS

Oh yeah, screw their priority list! Your priority should be:

beam weapons->decent armor->keep putting satellites up->THEN you can think about building alien containment->get interceptors upgraded->get better guns->get better armor

Demo was cool, but way too short and easy. I used nades whenever it would let me; rocket launcher for the hell of it.

How much actual game time did you spend in it?

Added Horatus.

33 hours to my first game win.

Grenades are very effective early on (unless you're in a terror message trying to save civvies), but later, they do less damage than a laser or plasma rifle.

I wouldn't judge the game by the Demo, but it does give you an idea of what gameplay is like.

That's not much. Considering I imagine you play just as awesome at it as you do this game Replayability? Doing things completely differently can still give you a fighting chance?

Never was big on the $40+ for a single game. I might have to wait a bit.

I will replay at a harder difficulty level (and maybe to take my time more), but I think there is an optimal path through the tech tree and you will eventually get burned if you don't follow it.

It also has multiplayer, so that gives you a lot of replay.

I would wait for the sale, but it was definitely a worthwhile investment for me.

I could pass on PvP Multiplayer. Co-OP? LAN maybe but I don't have that option. Definitely a cool approach to that type of game and look forward to not forgetting about it to play eventually.

Bone gifted me the Civ5 copy he had so I have a feeling that will keep me busy for awhile at least. Thanks bone

Signed up for Marvel Heroes as well for the hell of it. Hopefully that won't suck if I can get into it.

In an effort to fix my PC, I did something really stupid... Now, I've built PCs since the early 90s, and I work on HPC linux clusters. So, I guess I'm kinda like that FBI weapons trainer that shot himself in front of a class :P

I bought a new power supply, thinking it may be related to my random reboot problem. I got a Corsair 750 jobber with the modular power cables. I was replacing an old Thermaltake modular 600.

I swapped out the power supply, and plugged everything back in, and hit the power. Something didn't smell right... Oh crap... in my haste, I forgot to swap out the power lead going to my SSDs. I toasted 2 SSDs and my DVD drive. Remember kids, there is no industry standard for modular power plugs in the new power supplies.... each vendor has their own pinouts.

I relate this just as a warning for anyone in a hurry... It can happen to a pro

I have a couple new SSDs on the way, so I'll be rebuilding on Monday. Good thing my last backup Friday, right before I smoked my drives. Cya Wed
