one of the most successful game launches of the year, Guild Wars 2 delivers an unparalleled gaming experience set in a magical world of high fantasy. Like its predecessor, Guild Wars 2 features a subscription-free business model that allows players to enjoy the entire online experience for just one initial purchase.
Also making it available to Mac users ,so if I read this correct they are doing it F2P as well from the start.Watch out for the closure in about 9/12 months Can you really trust this company.

Well, look at the original GW. It was a buy once, no pay after, and it is still going. Besides from that, its a fantasy style rather than modern/sci-fi/futuristic MMO, as the majority of the MMOs that NCsoft has killed off previously have been....They are keeping the fantasy style MMOs going, and killing off any that don't mesh with that. Plain and simple. Chances are GW2 will keep going for a long time as a result. Or until NCsoft drives itself out of business, remains to be seen.

It has always been subscription free, even the original Guild Wars is.

The Mac version is similar to how CoX is done (transgaming i believe are responsible for that, correct me if i am wrong).

*shrugs* You might not be able to trust it, but they have had success with their business model in the past, and it seems to be working now.

Eh, I think their gem store will work out well enough. You can buy gems with real money or you can use gold ingame to buy gems. Gems are what is used in the real money store, like paragon points. You can also use gems to buy gold. I personally won't spend any real money on buying gems for any reason, but with it being relatively difficult to make gold in that game, I can see a fair amount of people dropping cash on it.

I also don't see it closing any time soon, considering GW1 is still running, that would be closed before GW2 got closed.

It was designed from the beginning to not require a subscription. They purposely crafted the game to not have one.

As long as Arenanet produces successful products, I suspect that they will keep GW2 and GW1 around. Unfortunately, Paragon never got deep into development on a second title that NCsoft was keen on, so Paragon isn't being given the luxury to continue CoH under the aegis of NCsoft. Hopefully it will continue in some fashion though!
