To The Freedom Horde Group - A Thank You

This is aimed at all the wonderful people who have come to the Freedom Horde Events over the past 3 and half years.

What Exactly Is the Freedom Horde?
It's a wonderful collection of players who have faithfully shown up for events every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. It's not a Super Group, but instead a group of players who just love this game and want to run the content.

How Did It Start?
I blame Roxona and Mr E-Man for being my inspiration. I started the game back in February of 2008. Sometime that summer I stumbled upon a thread on the forums announcing a weekly run of the Task Force Commander TF's. This was setup by Roxy. I started attending and met a solid group of players there. Roxona, Marvel, Silverx. I am still friends with them in real live to this day. When the run came to an end I was saddened that I wouldn't get to hang out with these cool people every week. Roxy introduced me to Mr E-Man and drug me to one of his Master of Attempts. It was a Master of Statesman Task Force. I had never run the TF before period. But we got the Master of Badge that night. Mr E ran events Every Wednesday and Saturday nights. I was hooked. After about 6 months of attending his events, I decided I needed more. I wanted that weekly sense of community. I wanted to play all the content, not just the high end content. So I started asking for input on these forums and scraped together a group of players who were interested. That first week we ran Positron and had 6 players show up: Myself, Mr E-Man, Xort, Scruffy, Master Blade and Jah Rasta. The second week we ran Synapse and had about 12 show up. It's been 2-5 teams every Monday ever since.

How Did We Get the Name?
I blame 1st. Son for that one. A few weeks into the events, I made some random comment about everyone hanging on, I have a horde of players to get onto teams. Well he stated we was the Freedom Horde and it's stuck ever since.

What Have We Done?
Every Task Force in the game, at least once. We've failed at sewer runs. We've had week long Positrons and Doctor Q's. We've Raided the Mothership with just our group on multiple occasions. We've slogged through some epically long nights because I was a bad event planner. We've made friendships that have endured and grown to include real life.

What Do I Enjoy Most About the Horde?
The chatting about everything, the epic weekly gatherings, the anniversary events where we had multiple groups going in one zone. That fact that I knew I could always count on you guys to have my back.

What Will I Not Miss?
The few people who have griefed us over the years. The stress of forming up 2-4 teams when I don't have enough players to meet the start numbers.

What the Horde Means to Me...
You guys are my best friends and family. I am a shy person in Real Life. But in game I can let that drop. I can chat freely, and give hugs and tease friends. I can let the stress of my real life drop. I can escape my real life for a few hours. You all have made me a better person in real life. You've given me the courage to be more outgoing, to make more friends. You have comforted me in times of pain, even if you didn't know it. I had always thought that if my life was to fall apart, I'd have you guys around to help prop it back up.

Thank you!
For the people who mean the most to me, I have been in personal contact already. I love you guys as my friends and I'm not giving up on those friendships. Hopefully you know who you are and how much you mean to me.

To all the team leaders we've had: Master Blade, Mr E-Man, Myrdinn, Megpie, Alter7en, Goldberg, Gintoki.... Thank you for always helping lead this huge group of players. Thank you for helping to guide me when I was lost!

To Xort, Paragon, Marvel, and Turg thank you for always having my back and being such smart and helpful players. You all have been a pleasure to team with.

To the hundreds of Player Who Have joined us, Thank You for giving us variety each week and new things to chat about.

To the Current Batch of Weekly Players, THANK YOU for sticking it out to the end. This means a lot to me.

What Does the Future Hold for Us?
As I've stated before I will be here until the end. Hopefully we find a savior and the end is many years from now. In case that's not the case, I encourage everyone to contact me on here or on Facebook with ways to keep in touch. We're in discussions on the Facebook group to see what games people might want to play. I'm willing to lead weekly teaming on other games if it means some of the Horde will stick together.

Please know that I will always be here for you guys both in game and out. You are a quality group of people and it's my honor to know you all.

Much Love and Respect,
Luna/Sue

Thank you so much, Luna! *HUGS!*

Thank you and all of Freedom Horde for welcoming this little stray. I'd randomly joined an event here or there last year. Then when you let me join Round 6 of the Hero TF schedule, it was a City Of Heroes dream come true.

Thank you so much for the hours of fun each Monday! Many a week I got through by bribing myself with that Freedom Horde playtime.

Tears of gratitude,
~Llydia

Thanks for those words comments Luna. It’s really hard to say goodbye to everyone. I first got into this game in May, 2004 right after my father passed away. Three weeks later my son was born. Needless to say it was a pretty stressful time and I needed something to get my mind off of all of it. So shutting down CoH is bringing back all sorts of stuff. One of which is how much all of you have meant to me.

I played off and on for about four years but never really found a steady group. About 5 years ago I got back into the game for what would turn out to be nonstop. I was really liking my PB and I had never done an MO run, so naturally I wanted to do the MoSTF on my PB. Well, I can tell you how many groups were looking for a PB for an MoSTF run, especially back then.

But people kept telling me that some guy named E-Man would take anyone. Eventually, I was able to get on one of his runs, although I think I ended up switching to my rad or something. We didn’t get the badge, but we sure had a lot of fun. No one got upset or started calling anyone out unlike any other Mo group I had ever been on. No one was trying to set any sort of record, etc. It was always about having fun. (Although we sure got our share of badges).

That was when I first met Roxy, Luna, King Sac, Scruffy, MB, Turg, and Morna among others. As Luna detailed, that eventually evolved into a steady weekly TF group, which eventually evolved into the Horde. That was always the cool thing about it; no one said “Hey let’s start the Freedom Horde.”

And what a group: Meg, Myr, Play time, Goldberg, Scataloni, Salt, Pepper, Marvel, Miss Heavenly, Paragon, Sevenpenny, SiverX, Angel . . . . .

There have been so many times you guys have gotten me through the rough times in life. About 2 years ago I went to work on Monday and lost my job out of the blue. I didn’t see it coming it all. That night running with the Horde meant everything to me I can tell you. I think it was just some random flashback arc we did, nothing special. But its things like that that get me through life.

Thanks for all the great times and I will never forget any of you.

And let me apologize for that one stupid pull that wiped the group on Lanaruu that one time, Sac I'm sorry for all the times I nuked right b4 you did, sorry for being that one guy on a particular MoSTF run who said he could stealth to the tree when he couldn't, for going back inside the Reichman's mish and getting killed on that MoKhan run and many, many other screwups

Thank you Llydia and Xort. You guys made me cry, but in a good way =)

I'm not giving up on keeping this group together someway. No matter what the future holds, we have new adventures ahead of us... New time to spend with friends... new times to chat about life and new times to forget about life.

Ghosting the Forums again.....it's the only thing I have since my laptop won't really run the game and my main computer died a while back and I haven't had the $ or time to fix it.

Anyway, I wanted to say Thank you to Luna and all who ever led a team on a Horde night event. I enjoyed more than anything in this game,......your company.

I dunno if I can do this without choking up....

When I first started playing CoH I had created a toon on a friends account just to get a feel for the game, shortly afterwards I setup my own account and have been playing on and off for 4 years. In the time that I have played there has been so much that has changed in game that looking back at it all I am very amazed. CoH became an escape for me... a way to forget about all my troubles and to try to save the world, even if it was digital. CoH made my life bearable, because I could become someone that didn't have limitations and not be held back due to health issues.

Most of you folks have some idea who Sevenpenny is and I will forever be grateful that you welcomed me with open arms into your group. You are my second family...if it were possible to pick those who you wanted as your real life family I would have to say each and every one of you would make the list.

If the lights are shut off and the door bolted on this game NC Soft will never see another penny of my very limited income... it is a shame that they are willing to throw away millions of dollars in pretty much guaranteed money, then they shouldn't be allowed to exist as a company.
