Help Agent Martin in: A Favor for Liberty
AE arc #381565
My 1st. Video: Agent Martin in the new tutorial zone.
It changed over time, but of course my first kept toon, an Elecx3 blaster Electro Breaker. Back in the day I used to do some amazing things with him, not sure how looking back. I must have used some magic I couldn't find a second time.
Can't leave out my Elec/Elec stalker Camnarok. Crazy amounts of fun and durable. Among all my toons it never failed, some one would compliment me on how strong he was every time I used him.
Looking back at my other main addictions- my Stone/SS tank was uber and my first 50 and second made toon, my Inv/Fire tank I made to farm with in the days of family farming(crutch for farming on dial up cause I couldn't die), and my Kat/Regen scrapper was insane because he was my first crack at regen and all but unkillable.
Almost forgot! We all waited for staff fighting so long so my Staff/Nin stalker Vekron, my most current addiction, has to be included here. First guy I soft-capped, built for enough recharge to not use hasten if I don't want to, and good regen with enough recovery to never run out of endurance. He made Vorpal my favorite Judgement move, gotta love shadow you's kicking things to death.
Going to miss this game and it's friendly community. I've had many friends over the years help me out from lending my inf to get my first guy SO'd to helping my plan builds. Can't forget the global channels where you could ask any stupid question and get a, maybe sarcastic but not rude, answer. Been a fun ride guys.
Liora Kate, Earth/Fire Dominator. My one character that I splurged for purple sets and zillions of recharge bonuses on, and it shows. She was doing 315 DPS the one time I cared to clock her, when she was significantly less powerful than she is now. Sure, I have a softcapped Scrapper, but Liora can lock down multiple x8 spawns at once... mostly. In those situations, a single screwup on my part gets me killed in seconds. If a softcapped Scrapper is like driving a sports car, Liora is like riding a motorcycle with a jet engine duct taped to the side.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

That's a very tough question! My Virtean Hybrid is way up there on the fun scale (Water/Psi/Lev Blaster), as is my other character PowerGuardian (shield/SS/Energy Tanker). Guess I'll pick... both!

Ode to Joy, my dark/dark/dark defender. She has by far the most time spent on her. Ode to Joy Beaumont is a ton of fun to play. I cannot get enough of dark. I have several dark miasma and dark blast characters.
Joy has a special place in my heart though. I will miss her the most. Her mama was not a nice woman. She made a deal to have a demon's child for an increase in magic ability. Ode to Joy was born. Joy had a great childhood. Her mama protected her from "bad" stuff. She decided to search for her papa once she hit 18 and spent the rest of her time tracking the demonic prince she called papa. She finally completed that search just as she hit 50. Now she has been a complete superhero, happy in her identity and happy in her hero-ness.
It was -all- good with Ode to Joy. I will miss you Joy.

1.) My human Warshade.
2.) My Archery/Mental Blaster.
3.) My Fire/Mental Blaster.
One of my very first characters, Earthjet, a MA/SR/Body scrapper. Back when I was still new to the game and coming up with all sorts of crazy ideas, she was a bastion of slightly-less-crazy. Even though she was a Natural Origin human, she quickly learned how to focus and concentrate her chi to boost damage, make mid-air course corrections, and eventually fly. Eventually she learned enough to hurl forth blasts of her own chi in a massive Energy Torrent! Ms. Liberty may yet rue the day that Earthjet reached security level 47 and she taught young Earthjet this ability.
Then I quickly got tired of the Energy Torrent animation and colour and was going to recolour it in I24. Hm, slight hitch there...
...quickly rising through the ranks, and equal favourite, is Dragongrace, a KM/Nin/Fire Stalker. Just don't call her a stalker or an assassin. "I'm not an *assassin*," she says. "I'm just a bit... pragmatic." Now security level 39, she hopes to get to security level 45 and a decently enhanced Fireball. Because really, being an invisible girl who can throw massive fireballs sounds awesome!
Soft Serve, my Ice/rad corr. Never got past 40 (I have lots of 50s), but had so much fun with friends in game with this one.
Debacle, my dark/EA stalker who has a screenshot kill of Twixt, I will treasure that always.

Agent Whitefox, my namesake. An ill/rad controller, I just love him to pieces. It's very safe, it's fun, and I feel like I can just leverage a -lot- of options, I find myself hard pressed to ever run out of tricks in the middle of a fight, whether it's a solo play beat down with phantom army and my debuffs or it's locking down spawns with my AoE holds and Spooky or boosting allies with accelerated metabolism and my heal. It's just an extremely flexible character with a lot of power and support strategy.
And he's my most traditional 'wizard' type character, I've always liked magic type characters and he's the purest 'caster' to me.
My first main and my second character was Technerdoc...
She was more a cyborg, a technical test object. So I tried to use always some from the parts on others costumes, this was hard. Technerdoc was a controller with gravity and empathy in a time where the servers was full with players. There was three character you need in every team: A stone tank (Must be a stone tank! What, you got a fire tank and want to tank? Ha, Ha maybe in you next life...), a kinetic-toon (Because the stone tank can't move then) and an empath for healing (A rad-toon too was the jackpot in this time). So I have a lot to do and don't had to wait long fo a team offer. Later when the game changed I found out that I was absolutly useless. Everyone can rezz and teleport, endu problems wasn't anymore the problem. But I had a problem. I can't do anything by myself and help was hard to find on the german server Zukunft. No chance in doing the Dark Astoria act and a lot of other missions. Hard that even SG mates didn't wanted to help me, they concentrate on her own things. I also didn't want to transfer her anywhere else, because you are always thinking that someone can come back one day and well... It was her home server... So I concentrate more and more on a other toon: Lina Moonshine.
Linas home server was Defiant and I build her in a time where we didn't know anything from Going Rogue. The Isles was full with this "I-am-evil-toons". Everyone in black with horns on the head coming right from the hell. So I was thinking about to do something new. The story was that her father is an inventor and Lina is sneaking into the lab, steal the robots and equipment and become Line Moonshine the might superheroine! She was the first (and only) superheroine on the Rogue Isles. Blow away buildings to make room for a supermarket (We have to go forward with the buisness you know?) and fighting the evil forces from Dr. Longbow (Hey, they wear red, so they have to be evil!). The cossie in pink and with the F10 keybind "Full Moonshine Power", I always had mysterious comments: "Hey we are on the Rogue Isles here!", "I know, and the Rogue Isles really need some heroes!". Oh damn, this was a funny time. When Going Rogue was out I wanted her as a real hero in Paragon, so I changed the sides and the story a little bit. I had a bind on left-shift-key to change the cossie with a flash into the "Moonshine Power Suit" with rocket boots and activate the fly power too, this was great. The robots all had names from moons from Saturn, Jupiter and so on, the big one was Luna of course. The moonshine power she always was talking about was just force fields, also a technical gimmick. The powers was just perfect. Good to solo and great for teaming. No wonder that I was thinking about to made this one to my new main...
This are characters I will really miss, because I can't re-build them anywhere else like this...
Tough call, but I think it has to be Perfect Dork, my dp/dev blaster. Yeah, I know, it was a mediocre power combo, and one of the ones which would have benefitted least from the snipe changes, but it was just so much FUN.
Also liked nrg/dev, and my dark/dark defender and dark/dark tanker. And, of course, axe/fire brute for recreational farming. That force feedback +recharge proc? Awesome.
Hard pressed to think of just one... But looking back, the one character I remember being broken by ED to the point of not being fun anymore, and this affecting my enjoyment of the game significantly, was my Fire/EM blaster.
6slotted Hasten and 6slotted FoN kept FoN up a lot - I think it had either a much longer duration or a much faster recharge too at the time, and you could have it perma or close to it. With Blaze being 20 feet at this point I'd get up close, at a time when people (on Vigilance, anyway) believed a blaster should play at range and only at range, and soloed AVs, despite a terrible "attack chain" of "whatever is up", consisting of Blaze, Fire Blast, Fire Ball, Total Focus and, yes, Power Thrust (I think AV regen was also lower at this time, and that it was boosted right about when the RSF was introduced two issues later), when those same people believed soloing AVs at all to be impossible, let alone doing so on a blaster. I remember being so enamored with the character I made an avatar of her using Total Focus on Dreck, even though this sort of thing always struck me as super cheesy.
In I7, my main was an EM/ELA brute. Loved it. Used to lead RSFs and act as sole tank quite often, while at the same time even the US boards were filled with complaints about this TF being either impossible or only possible with 1 granite brute and 7 rads... Ha. To be fair, we did often end up with (and even push for) numerous corrs on the team, and stacking -res on top of those high base damage numbers was possibly one of the most fun things about the combo, frequently hitting super fast 3k damage ETs on the final AVs. That character not only remained at the top of the charts for Freedom Phalanx kills (those little kiosks things scattered in Paragon City that used to give you information about number of kills per day and per month), but also managed to have more of these kills by herself than every other character on the server combined; no doubt due to the hard work of my corruptor buddies rather than anything else.
By I13 or so I made and played a DB/inv scrapper for a while. It was quite enjoyable as it was such an underdog combo at the time, either powerset considered terrible by most people who cared to express an opinion. I didn't see anyone else sporting the combo for months if not years; even better, I did get numerous people telling me they rerolled this combo because of me.
Finally, by I19 or so I played a SS/fire/soul brute. Complete 180° here as I was shamelessly following the crowd, but damn it was fun to play. Could never get into the whole "I'm punching a dude, now I'm dropping flames at my feet, now I'm throwing a skull at somebody, now I punch again" concept, but the sheer power of that character, and the convenience of it all made it a blast.
...Somehow, it seems I can only remember alts as fun not only based on their performance, but also in relation to the playerbase. I guess I'm an ego monster. :|
Awesome costume, Rylas.
There have been many but I would have to say Zanco my Fire/Shield Scrapper is the one I have the most fun with. My first 5050 was an Empath. He is the reason for my Global Elfin. The name just stuck. From him I went to Scrapper that I had lots of fun with for a long time. Hells Elf was a Spines/Regen Scrapper. Played him dor several years. There were many others but Zanco is my best and the most fun.
Justice Server Global Name Elfin and Elfin Too #savecoh
I could name my 50s but why? Universal Heroes SG I love this game.
This was becoming my favorite toon:
Bat Uzza
She's a Magic Origin, Street Justice/ Regen Brute.
She was Praetorian that Became a Hero.
She sees herself as the Daughter of the Arabian Goddess Uzza.
There was a lot more I was going to write about when it came to her. . .
By far, my necro/dark/soul mm, Blood Speaker. The first character I rolled more than 5 years ago.
Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas
Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.
Itsy-Bitsy Spider hands down. I created him the moment the SoA character type became available and have loved every minute I have ever spent on him.

It's hard to pick just one that I really liked to play. Each one could do some really cool stuff. However, on the top I would have to say these few:
Allatrope my Kin/Elec armor stalker. I liked the close combat, but I mostly really liked the high DPS that he had. After the most recent stalker updates, his single target DPS was insane. First, with ATOs, I had it set up so I would fire off an Assassin Strike from Hide every 10 seconds, and this damage output was high enough that I could solo a trial AV. After the AS update I developed a new attack chain that was... about 7 steps long. But, with that update I managed to get it so I was nearly permanently under the effect of Build Up, and with a couple of procs it made it so Allatrope's damage output was just plain insane. As soon as the battle began against any AV or EB, it was an intense but short bout. My proudest achievement with him was soloing Chimera in the Belladonna arc at +4. It took two tries, though, since I had no idea that he was going to gain levels and I didn't come adequately prepared. On my second try, however... I plowed through him and won. BTW there's a huge hole in your chest.
Second is my grav/thorn dominator Vespila. Gravity is an extremely fun set to play. I took Lift, and never got tired of throwing enemies into the roof. Worm Hole was my favorite power from the set, though, since it allowed me to relocate, stun, and scatter enemies all at once. My favorite thing to do was, in open air maps, to wormhole an enemy group high into the sky and let them plummet right on top of us. Each time I'd do it, I'd say "It's raining men!" in local chat. The team always found it hilarious. But usually I would wormhole enemies into a corner along with thorntrops. A couple of procs and then the DoTs could really accumulate. I'd say my proudest achievement with her is defeating Black Scorpion at level 54 in the incarnate trial arcs. This is amazing since she is specced for recharge and has no innate defense and only so-so damage output. It took 5 tries, but by golly I got him!
Third is the chilling black winds of the thunderous Obsidian Gales. He was an ice control/storm troller, and the fun never ends with his powers. The coolest thing about them was his ability to throw enemies around like ragdolls, which I used quite effective in my keyes video guide in my signature. Ice slick and freezing rain both had a nasty knockdown ability that stacked, causing entire enemy groups to be heavily debuffed while bouncing hard on their butts as I slowly killed them. Thunderstorm was nice since it, too, threw enemies around, and if used in conjunction with Tornado it was mass havoc. The interesting thing about Gales was that, at first his damage output was really low, but as time went on it started growing much higher. Once multiple lightnings storms, tornado, Jack frost, freezing rain, and all of the ice control powers were out, his DPS really skyrocketed. My proudest achievement with him is when I managed to solo AV Ghost Widow at +2 during the SSA #7. I left AVs on, thought "hey, why not give it a shot?" and then I beat her on my first try.

Lot of awesome characters all! Several MFing Warshades popping up in there too
Thought I'd toss another character's story in to the pot. My namesake, John Printemps. He was what I rolled on my first day in the game and I remember everything about that first experience in the game. I didn't know anyone else who played and CoH was my first MMO, so a lot of what I was doing was totally on wild guesses. I didn't really know where I wanted to start, but Scrappers seemed like the most fun, and trying out toon to mimic a comic character seemed like a quick way to initiate myself into the game. I never realized that your first character (back then) was also what your Global ended up being. I rolled a Claws/Regen and gave him one of the most horrible costumes ever (black leather with red tribal overlays and a cigar). After the game spit me through the tutorial I loaded into Galaxy City (inorite?!) and took my first real look around, amazed at the sandbox environment I was being dumped into. Sitting not too far off from where I loaded was a DM/DA Scrapper, level 15, and toggled into darkness. They warm-heartedly welcomed me to the game, offered me 50,000 Influence (which I had thought generous, no knowing anything about Inf) to get started and gave me a few tips. They were one of the original driving inspirations that pushed me to make a Dark Armor Scrapper (which ended up being my ~4th or 5th toon). Shortly after my conversation with them, another flighty player offered me to join a Super Group and I spent the next two hours running lowbie missions in Galaxy. The community in this game has been awesome since day one, and that I will never forget. Incidentally, I struggled to get my first character to 20, used at least two respecs on him, burned the lvl 24 respec trial on him, and several more freespecs up to 29 before I ever really understood who the character was. What kind of personality he had, what drive to play the game there was. He spent a long time at level 29 collecting dust. I probably earned about three or four fifties before I went back to him and pushed to level 46 where I level-locked him for a while as a Bridge (remember those days?!). Eventually he became my eighth or ninth 50, and right before Enhancement Converters is when I finally worked out his ultimate build and slotted him up. And this: I Promise this isn't a Rick-Roll is my favorite piece I've done for him. |
Without doubt GRETA-001, my first character in my first MMO, she was and will always be the first character to experience things new to CoH. First and only to skate down the frozen Red River in the Hollows or to leap over a rock following the star ... and land waaay down in the Gulch to get instantly splattered by an Ogre's boulder. First to make her player nearly fall out his chair when a Council Boss went all Wolfie on her on a bridge in IP. First to learn how annoying the Snipers in Founders Falls could be for a level 30'ish character trying to reach the SO store contacts before they showed on the maps. First to face an AV, the Clockwork King, while sidekicked on an all scrapper team early one morning in PI. First to look upon "the big glowing blob" sitting on that badge she was after in the Hive while learning just how far a mito could fire or to look upon that large flying saucer sitting in the old Rikti War Zone and wonder ... .
Now she faces what might be her final first. To look upon her world as it ends.

"And also with you", Father McKenzie.
My favorite toon to play was a fire/dark corruptor based on the priest from the immortal Beatle's song, "Eleanor Rigby". In his early levels, he felt so powerful with his combo of tar patch and rain of fire. In later levels, he felt like every team-mate's best friend with buffs, de-buffs and amazing damage.
I took him through the incarnate trials, and he only got better and better. I will really miss patrolling with my angry, judgemental priest. Bless you (and curse you), Father McKenzie.

My main, Hyperstrike (Inv/SS/Energy) has given me an absolute ***load of fun.
My Fire/Rad, Vortex Core (and her level-locked-for-marketing predecessor "Flamin' Trolla") have been freaking great, ESPECIALLY for the friends my Fire/Rad events have introduced me to.
My first villain 50 was actually NOT my first villain. I decided to try a Stalker out after laughing at a person running around on a stalker named "Stabby Poke". DB/Will/Soul and Stabbitha was born. To this day, she's been an absolute BREEZE to play on Hami raids. She scraps out with the yellow damage team. Then she goes hold-crazy with Soul Storm on the greens. Then she snipes out the blues with Moonbeam. I'd been planning a rebuild on her to toughen her up a bit (min-maxer me!). But, honestly, she was so damn tough ALREADY, FRANKENSLOTTED, that I just never got around to it.
My Ice/Ice tank, Brownian Cessation, was one I started, then left alone for a long time. I finally moved him to another server to have something there for Tanker Tuesdays. I put a couple more levels on him and he became a completely different tank. I got him up to 50 a while back and he's been just an absolute durability monster. ITF? Energy attacks? How...quaint...
I have JUST gotten an Ill/Rad (Morrigon) up to 50 and, once I'd started ramping up the recharge, started to absolutely LOVE it.
A couple of my toons took some major rebuilds to love. My PB (Eclipse Phase) and Warshade (Inion Iomlain Gealai) among them.
Also, my Fire/Fire blaster (Blastion), which I rebuilt a few months back because he was doing so much damage he was ripping aggro off pairs of tanks. I rebuilt him as a defense-capped hover-blaster. His overall damage came down, but it started to become tough to find situations that could actually kill him before he killed them. And I was EAGERLY anticipating i24 after transferring him to beta and watching what a monster he became.
Hell, I even had fun with my Demons/Dark MM (Indiana Lovecraft), once I had the binds down to shut the damn demons up...
I loved my TW/SR and my PB both were the most fun I had on the game for a long time and the DM/BA brute I had planned would had ranked right up there.
I did like my SS/Inv (i7) brute.
My favorite, dang what's her name? Ah yes I remember now. the WP/SS tank. Good concept, and good solo toon.
The TW/Regen brute is up there too. Easy to get into character and more than easily got the solo 1-50 job done.
Good stuff. It was fun while it lasted. Still have to come up with a storyline to end it.
The Elect/elect tank Lu Dontiz- lab got shut down by the feds for doing "unethical" experiments on the villains he caught and fled to Italy.
Old Bat- Fire/WM tank died of a heart attack (born Nov.13 1902-diedAug 31st 2012) and finally able to join her loved one in the other world.
Elec/elec-Angry- brute moved to Miami to wreak havoc.
Larry "The Pike"- got arrested from old racketeering charges and will spend 20 years in the Zig before being transfered to NYC to face a murder rap.
The WS finally was able to gather enough parts to fix her ship and went home.
Pinky Spider-caught cancer from her own venom grenades and had to retire from life of crime. She might lose one of her spider legs.
Personified Evil- Is still Evil. Moved to Colorado with the Blakes. No one believes in werewolves over there so he can take many victims without notice.
Still working on the ending for the rest.

When Cold was first introduced... I was panting to try it. Little did I know, I was about to be introduced to my first, true "Main".

Tatyana Korsakova [nee Stepanova], born in Solnechnogorsk, Russia, USSR in June 1957. At 19 she was "recruited" to a top secret project for the soviet government. At 26, there was an accident in the facility and she was transported to an alien dimension.
The accident also triggered latent mutations. She survived there, by learning how to use her newfound abilities, for nearly two years before being discovered by an exploratory group from Paragon City.
It was quickly determined that the transport had included temporal, in addition to dimensional, displacement; 25 years have passed since she was last on this earth. Now, with her country fallen, her knowledge out of date, and her family deceased; she helps those who rescued her and tries to regain her place in a new world.
