The One That Got Away

Well, I was slowly working on an MA project that I was rather proud of, that I thought would be good enough to show off in here, even though I'd only been in the game a year.

Below is my plan for my "greastest MA arc never published." Feel free to add your own, so we can at least marvel at everyone's ingenuity.

The concept is that it would be for Loyalists who had just transferred to a Primal identity. Mr. G would contact you, wanting to use your relative anonymity as a "lowly" twenetysomething super to fly under the radar. The three main components of his scheme involved agitating the Luddites and setting things up so that they would go into a crusade against the PTS at a vital time, allowing the second phase to go off in the chaos. This would be an alliance with King Midas, aimed squarely at Aeon. In the confusion of the PTS going under, the Goldbrickers, backed with some choice Praetorian tech, would raid Aeon Corps labs, stealing lots of useful goodies for the benefit of both sides. The final part would be relatively low-risk and yet one of the most dangerous parts- through misinformation and selective reveals of actual plans, fan the flames of the Mediport Conspiracy's lingering bad blood, convincing both the citizens and low-level heroes that their access to the system would be "deprioritized" during the invasion, leaving them to die in order to save the high level supers.

Hopefully the effect would be to show that someone like Mr. G was a far more dangerous threat than another squad of Praetorian robots, since he actually plans and pulls lesser resources together for a stronger effect. Guess I'll never know if I could have pulled it off properly in homage to a great villain now.

I was moving very slowly on this storyline, mostly because I was trying to get all of the lore correct as I went along. Thanks to everyone out there who helped me with my incessant questions.

I had a retro-scifi one where the player is playing a commander of the lunar base who gets asked by Space Command to go check out that happened to Mars base, who's radio transmissions stopped a couple of weeks ago. In true Lovecraft fashion, you arrive to find it empty and discover field notes about the now-gone Martian civilization. That barbaric race had a religious ceremony that transferred the minds of their dead to new host bodies... you guessed it, spaceman zombies! It was about 80% done when I gave it up for lost due to the way NPC dialogue spammed when you first walked into the base. Title: The Catacombs Of Mars.

Another was a "fairy tale from the Rogue Isles" about "the most frightening $AT ever, $name!" In a simply told story, it detailed (in 3rd person) how $name met and hoodwinked The King Of Monsters (written to sound like a cranky four-year-old) into helping $himher do a couple of jobs. Then $name stole the King's gold and then still got him to help $himher steal "the Secret Of Fear" from some (renamed) Redcaps. Title forgotten. Featured my fave line: $name meets the King dressed as a business man but without pants. "$name complimented the King Of Monsters on his costume but asked where his pants were. 'Bah, pants are stupid!' >" I'll miss that line. It ended with a miss and the threat to "go sleep or I'll really give you something to be afraid of!"

I had some notes for at least half a dozen others, but those were the best of them. I'll miss the ol' MA> :/

CoH...IN SPAAAAACE!!! You're the captain of a starship with a ragtag crew including a purple-skinned space babe, a robot engineer, and a tribute to Zapp Branagan. With the aid of a thinly-veiled future!Crimson and future!Indigo you fight a Malta-like conspiracy that has infiltrated the heart of the Terran Empire.

A Malta plot in the Shadow Shard. Based on the premise that a god is just a meta they haven't figured out how to beat yet, they sent operatives to the Shard to figure out how. It was going to include pet supers with dimension-transcending powers (born out of the original Superdyne experiments) and some vague theories on the nature of the Shadow Shard reflections.

The Second Coming of the Megamech v2.0. Basically a three-way war between Arachnos, the Council and the Sky Raiders, and the Cult of the MegaMech. It was going to be level 25-30, with an epic battle on the Striga bridge map and lots of explosions.
