Dark is arguably the best armor set in the game...slot dark regen with a theft of essence +end proc asap and build for defense/recharge. Your survival will be very good.
Fire is all about damage...it is likely a mid range set for survival. My preference leans toward dark personally

I have an Elec/FA that has become a very fun build, indeed. Lots of exotic damage to be handed out, and it's a pretty solid farm build, too.
Fiery Embrace and Burn on top of all your AoE attacks... DELICIOUS.

Both pretty much rock the house. If you want a lot more damage, go Fire. If you want to be a lot tougher, go with Dark.

My experience with an elec/dark brute was disappointing. It may have been different if I leveraged the mitigation aspect of the layered stuns. I didn't however and found myself consistently in the middle of a long animating attack when I needed to fire dark regen off.
I assume that it was mostly user incompetence.
My Elec/Dark was a scrapper, but I usually tried to fire off Dark Regen immediately following Lightning Rod so that a) I could have a lot of enemies around for both regaining health and triggering the +End proc, and b) so I could take advantage of the knockdown. Of course that doesn't always work, but the telenuke+heal combination was nice when I pulled it off.

Hello there, I'm starting a Brute, mainly to casually level and run solo and some grouping stuff.
My concept wants elec as a primary, I was wondering if I'd be better off with Dark Armor or Firey Armor as a secondary. I've heard FA is a beast with Damage, whereas I've never heard anything good about Dark Armor.
Was just wondering what my options are, any help is appreciated, thanks.
