Slotting Distortion Field? (Beast/Time/Fire)

All,

What would be the better way to slot Distortion Field on a Beast/Time/Fire mastermind? Should I go for damage procs or non-damage procs?

Isnt Beast Mastery light on AOE damage? From that perspective, I could see going with 2 recharge IOs, 3 damage, and then a 4th either as damage (at level 50) or maybe (pre 50) the hold proc or an end reducer.

But from the perspective of global recharge and ranged defense, I could see 4-slotting Basilisk's gaze (including the proc) and then I would throw another recharge proc and the hold proc in there for the proc crowd control action.

Which would be the best approach?

Below, I will post my build for reference.

Thanks,

Lewis

If you need the set bonuses I would say keep it as is. However one thing I wanna point out that might be interesting, is if you are getting the sorcery set. TPing into a mob with the Time Toggle Debuff is very effective.

Personally I slot distortion field with PROCS, and I am usually not one who is fond of procs. But in the case of time the ability to have 4 procs in an AOE patch that is otherwise kinda meh (personal opinion) works. I frequently see several different numbers over the heads of enemies on initial casting. For last 2 slots I END/RECH/Hold from Lockdown for dmg bonus with the proc, and then End/RECH/slow from one of the slow sets. Or some variation there of, and I generally use that on all my time toons, not the optimal setting for sure, but a helluva lotta fun with 3 dmg procs and the hold proc. Not sure how that changes with the PPM change but I think it would be even better, if Arcanaville could just explain it to me in a way that my no supercomputer brain can handle cuz I look at the formulas and suddenly feel like I should be a tex avery cartoon twiddling my lips

I have a currently Low lvl Beast/Time and she is doesn't have it fully slotted yet but she shaping up quite nicely.

The lockdown proc is great if starved for slots. I see your using it for def and rech. I assume you LIKE fireball..but..Power boost + farsight is just flatout amazing..and you would not need to much def to soft cap it.

I really like your slotting for Distortion Field. The +2 mag is golden and -recharge debuffs stack, mathematically at least, better than any other stacking in game. For my Beast/Time I went all procs in DF but it's hard to argue with your slotting.

Although your question was specific to DF, here are a couple of other thoughts:

Your Farsight is easily perma. I'd make the Red Fortune some flavor of LOTG for the acc bonus.

Same goes for Fortify Pack. These two changes will allow you to ignore this next point.

Accuracy bonuses aren't high enough for Time Crawl to hit 95% of the time against +3s (the benchmark I use in Mids). With the 2 acc bonuses from LOTGs above, you actually do hit 95%, without those changes you may want to use a basic Accuracy IO.

Your high global recharge, combined with Agility, gives you some flexibility in Slowed Response. Taking out both of those Underminded Defenses takes recharge from 22.01 seconds to 24.12 seconds. Perhaps 2 Lady Greys, including the proc + debuff/recharge, would be good.

Since you're in the Heat Mastery epic, I do want to point out that Bonfire with the kb2kd proc, even post adjustment, is still very very nice. I'm inferring from your post that the "problem" you're solving in this pool is aoe damage, so Bonfire instead of Fire Blast would provide aoe damage and control.

Those points are all nuances, except for the Farsight point, which I think is important.

Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)

Ooo, /Time....I slotted Distortion Field with 4 Basilisk's Gaze including the proc for the recharge bonus, but don't have enough slots for the rest, though the Lockdown proc addition may make me change my build a bit...

Question, does Farsight stack?

(Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes...)

I will look into going for all LOTGs for the bonus. I could also think of a way to sneak a Kismst in the build.

As for the fact that I am skipping Power Boost and going with Heat Mastery, it is a character concept thing. This character is intended to emulate my Pathfinder (tabletop RPG) goblin sorcerer, who focuses in Summons and on Fireball.

I could possibly switch Fire Blast to Bonfire tho, I hadnt thought of that. That would let me get some AOE damage (in addition to my Fireball and my Ravens) and that'd probably be enough to focus the Distortion Field on the control/recharge aspect. That saves me a slot for a Kismet, and I can still switch the 2 Red Fortunes out to LOTGs, which should compensate for the accuracy loss in Fire Blast and still get me up to a good value for Time Crawl (in terms of chance to hit).

Thanks to everyone here for all the comments. Also, I have no idea if Farsight stacks. I assume not though, at least not from the same caster. But that's just an assumption. But if it did stack, you'd think you'd hear more about that.

Here is my modified build. How does it look now?
