Question about buying VIP time through master account

I want to buy only 1 month of VIP time through my NC Soft master account but for using a credit/debit card I see no option whatsoever to purchase 1 month and prevent recurring charges. There is an option for that, but only if you're using Paypal and I don't have, want, or need a Paypal account.

When I go to my NC Soft master account and select "upgrade account to VIP" it says on the page for choosing payment methods "Important Notes: Credit and debit card payments will automatically recur until deactivated."

Then when I choose 1 month and card type under credit card plans it says this "You have selected the 1 month billing plan. If you do not deactivate your account prior to your bill date on the Billing Summary page, you will be billed $14.99*." On this page at the bottom I have only 2 options: click the checkbox to 'put my card on file' and a limit on how much money can be spent each month on my card (to prevent fraud in case my card is stolen I imagine).

I would rather buy a VIP time card but if I remember right, my local Gamestop (no other place close by that sells them) only has a 2 month time card and not a single month and I only want 1 month of VIP time so I can spend my reward tokens I've saved up from buying points to get the Mecha Armor costume pieces.

Would I be able to say, purchase 1 month of VIP time through my master account with a debit/credit card and then immediately cancel my membership keeping the 1 month I payed for and NOT be billed the following month? I won't have any more money on the card to cover the cost and don't want to take my chances that either my bank will cover the charge and charge me 30 something bucks for an overdraft fee or not cover the charge and NC Soft takes action against my account for failure to pay because I forgot to cancel my sub before it expired.

That is exactly how you have to do it. I might actually wait a day to cancel, but it's otherwise correct.

Well, then, deactivate it.

Yes.
Subscribe, wait until you can log into the game as a VIP (usually a matter of minutes or less), and then cancel your recurring billing. You'll get a notification on cancelling that you'll be able to play any remaining paid time, and that you'll automatically downgrade to Premium when that time expires.

Depending on your bank and the type of account, I'd say that there's a fair chance of this happening. Cancel the subscription as I described above, and you won't have to worry about it.

This won't happen. If your account tries to auto-renew and the card is declined (for any reason), then the system cancels the recurring billing, and you get an email telling you what happened and why.

Now, if a payment goes through and you're successfully resubscribed, and then you file a chargeback or otherwise force NCSoft to give back your money, you'll get banned. If it's a result of a bank error, it can sometimes get reversed (though the one time I heard of it happening, the person was locked out of their account for about two months before they got it resolved). But they'll never ban you for not paying; they'll just shift you back to Premium.
