Combat Pets

Just a simple question, not trying to start anything here.
The combat pets: Light and dark fairy, Red and Blue Wisp, Shield, Power Oscillator and Drones.

Was wondering why these pets couldn't be untouchable (like the Incarnate Lore pets) and none target-able (so no exploiting could happen) or shorter life duration?

dont know but that would make them useful. Given that a swat and they are dead kind of less make them very much less useful in combat. Maybe this was the intent? a non combat buff?

To be honest, I think early on when they came out, they didnt want vets having some huge upper hand. With the incarnate system now and all...........they are REALLY realllllly marginal.

I see no problem at all making them non targetable.

I like some of the fun tricks you can pull off with them as targetable, but those are very situational, so it's gonna be pretty minor either way. I can't see em changing them, and I'm cool with that, but if they do, I doubt it'll make much difference to me either.

I think this is the main reason why the vet buff pets were made as fragile as they are now. People have to remember that they were introduced to the game many years before things like Incarnate Lore pets or CoH:Freedom and I think the Devs had a very legitimate concern about vets having an "unfair advantage" with them over newer players, especially where PvP was concerned.

In light of how the game has evolved it might be alright game balance wise for these buff pets to be non-targetable now. But changing them to be that way would probably be something so far down on the list of future QoL improvments that I doubt we'll ever see that happen. Besides as Madadh pointed out there are actually some positive uses for them being as they are now, chief among them is their usefulness as "alpha-strike bait" against MOBs.

I prefer thunder strike ........but yah I could see people using them for that. They are just so small and sweet though......I hate seeing them one hit punched by a mob past my aggro cap
