Can Beast/Time skip TempSel, Raven and Swarm?

All,

I am finding that Beast/Time is a tight build, more because of powers than because of slots. I really want to take Chill Mastery for concept reasons (I know it isnt the best) and I happen to hate Ravens and Swarm. I was thinking of taking Hawk for an attack to knock down flying foes and to just help stack my Pack Buff or whatever. But I cant stand the swarm, and Ravens isnt my fave conceptually. I dont like shooting animals out of my body for this concept.

Also, I want to have the Chill Mastery powers. In order to get everything I think I want, I had to drop Swarm, Ravens, and Temporal Selection. I still think this build will be fine. But I wanted to see what your thoughts might be (although whether I become convinced, I cant promise ).

Anyway, lemme know. Also, I have not researched Fortify Pack yet or looked even slightly at other people's builds, so I have no idea if I slotted it in a pointless way or not. I will prob look later whether Def, Heal etc really help, or if 2 generic recharge IOs will suffice.

Thanks!

Lewis

Is Flash Freeze really important to your concept? I think Temporal Selection is valuable for MMs. You can pretty easily keep it on 2-4 pets (or teammates) and they'll get 50% more from your heals, both Chronoshift and Temp Mending. You can take TS instead of Flash Freeze, slot with DW and lose only 1.25% recharge bonus.

You've got Farsight recharging in 73 seconds with a duration of 120 seconds. That Red Fortune can certainly give you another slot to play with. Taking it out still easily keeps Farsight perma. Similarly the LOTG end/rch can be swapped to either of the other 2 pieces of LOTG to provide more def and still easily be perma.

I don't see any kb protection. I assume the empty slot in Super Speed is for a BotZ. If not, well, there you go.

Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)

Temporal selection is probably the only thing in Time I skip. On MMs sometimes I'll take it, though. Flash Freeze is really just a bad move though, and I'd take TS over it.

I'd say with Fortify Pack, while normally essential to slot with lots of def and healing, isn't so with Time. Time has a reliable heal and provides plenty of defense itself, so unlike say Sonic, using fortify pack is optional. You need to pick it up for the offensive bonuses of course, but you don't need to put so many slots in it.

On anything other than Time I'd always six-slot Fortify Pack, but on Time, if you need the slots elsewhere, it wouldn't hurt to just put a couple recharge in it.

Deacon,

Flash Freeze *IS* the concept, despite what we all know about Sleep powers. I want to Ice-Sleep my foes while the pets whack 'em one at a time And I just like the look. I dont care if other players ruin it, or if bodyguard mode and/or "goto aggressive" ruins it.

I do wish we got Shiver instead of Flash Freeze, but hey. I can only work with what they give me. And I can only work with my weird brain.

Also, thanks for the note about Farsight. I might shave that slot and shift things and move a slot back up to Ice Blast.

And finally, yes, I was planning to throw a BOTZ KB in Super Speed, I just forgot to put it in the build.

Thanks!

Mad Grim,

Thanks for the info about Fortify Pack. I will see how it goes!

All,

Thanks for the replies!

Lewis

Forgot to say- I'd slot it with more def than healing. The regen isenourmous, but pets don't have enough health for it to keep them alive. Unlike defense, which they have plenty of.

Swarm is easily skippable because the DoT is pitiful really (also Lethal. Why are bee stings not Toxic?!)

However, I would NOT skip Ravens if you could at all help it. While conceptually I can understand not liking it, Ravens offers a fantastic means of generating a ton of Pack Mentality very quickly. You can easily pop it in a good sized mob and net yourself 4-5 stacks right off the bat. Enough recharge and you're looking at more.

However, mechanically it doesn't work too well with /Time of course, Time's Juncture means being in melee proximity, at which point maximizing your Raven benefits is more difficult. At that point you -could- argue for using Swarm over Ravens, I think.

Still, Raven's a good AoE tool, and it's -Def makes it an excellent place for an AH proc.
