New Best Farmer - Need help from number crunchers please
I have always felt katana makes a good farmer, but that's me...good luck
Currently Playing:
Rage King - SS/Regen Brute (50+3)
Soulfire Darkness - Dark/Fire Tank (50+2)
Deaths Final Embrace - Kat/Dark Brute (50+3)

....you don't use rage.
The PPM changes to Gaussians indicate that the new proc will fire 90% of the time if you only fire build up once a minute. Given most recharge builds get Build up down to 20 seconds or so when I'm not trying for absurd, you'd get that 160% build-up 90% of 33% of the time, rather than every time.

Updated.
You can also drop RotP and put in mu lightning, drop a slot off of that and 4 slot apoc for the damage boost and put the extra slot into fiery embrace. With 2 slots and boosters you shave 6 seconds off of it. Which on a cave map I'm sure adds up over the course of the whole thing.
I think it will work honestly...You could take flashing steel in exchange for one of the ST attacks if you wanted...but...it should work

The new proc chance is based on recharge amount slotted into the power itself and not global recharge. My current planned build has no slots in build up other then the one it comes with. So it has 0% slotted recharge enhancement value.

So... yeah, not much to worry about on that part.
I'm pretty far from convinced that Katana will be dethroning existing favorites, though. I don't know how many TW/FAs are running around, but they should be at least as competitive for most of the same reasons.
If the Gaussian proc change makes it live as-is, this is a huge, HUGE boost to pulse-damage toons of all sorts.
For example, I have a beloved elec/elec scrapper with build-up time synched to lightning rod. That toon already hits like a deity every 30 seconds, and this change is going to make it SO MUCH BETTER, as that utterly useless Gaussian proc now actually does something worth it's unique status.
I am tentatively pleased.

So for numbers this build has 180 Recharge from sets and hasten. Add in the base and your at 280. Plus another 100 for enhancements and your at 380. Plus another 10 at least from Ageless. For 390 and capped at 400 for when ageless isnt at its weakest phase.
|
Would very much like to know, because my defender has 211% from Sets+Hasten, & 120%(ish) on the long timer powers from recharge enhancements (Spiritual alpha) and I occasionally grab the base buff too...
Apologies for going slightly off topic, but I was curious.

It will be nice to see when all the changes are put out. One thing is with the change to the fighting pool you could drop Tough if its just a farming build. I dont even run it when farming.
That could free up some slots elsewhere, just slotting a LOTG Defense Io in Weave and Maneuvers would get your fire defense back up to where you had it. This may let you slot up another attack power or proc in one of them. My farmer only has about 27 Fire defense and runs at max settings and usually has no issues.
Freedom Server - Main = Lil Bug & way too many alts to list

Good point. I was actually thinking about this yesterday. Wondering which of my toons only take tough to get to weave and who could stand to lose it. Ideally on these newest builds I'm trying to hit 33% fire def without maneuvers to save on some end.
Correct me if I've very sadly mistaken, but isn't the cap +400%, i.e. 500% if you include the 100% base? The wiki states that the cap is +400% which cuts recharge by a fifth - intimating that it's actually a 500% reduction.
|
Edited below
The base is not included so you can go up to +400% (which reduces recharge time to one-fifth of the base). Also keep in mind that enhancements slotted in the power DO count towards the 400% so if a power has ED capped Recharge you don't benefit from global recharge about 300% or so.

Thanks everyone.
How much of a negative aspect would redraw have on farming? SS's biggest things going for it are the fact that it has no redraw plus its ability to make excellent use of the force feedback proc. But while going over the numbers for my tricked out SS/Fire I realized that using spiritual alpha was a waste cause I was so close to the cap. Then I realized the force feedback proc was being wasted as I was basically hitting the cap without it. (For some reason I wasnt factoring in 100% base recharge)
So after going over options I decided maybe I'd roll another brute using katana. Hear me out on this one. With the proc changes coming soon the gaussian proc in build up is going to provide a double build up. So on this new build thats an extra +160% damage every 30 seconds or so. (I dont currently use rage as the crash annoys me. Unless its for ticket farming cause I can finish the map before the crash happens) Also katana's pbaoe is on a shorter recharge and instead of the force feedback proc can use the achilles heel proc. Which provides -20 resistance to all affected critters. Thats -20 res that SS doesn't have access to.

As for damage, 100 base plus 130 for enhancements with musc alpha for 230. another 200 with fury for 430. Double build up (160) for 590. 15 from carnival lore pet buff puts it at 605. Mids says I have 13 from sets so now we're at 618. Whats hybrid assualt, 75 + 10 passive If I remember correct. Thats a grand total of 703. Popping 3 reds for the rest to hit cap is easy. Mind you I would only hit about 600 on my SS. Maybe it would be best to go with radial assault.
Anyways, thats my rambling for this morning. Still havent gone to bed yet so if things dont make sense, there are grammer/spelling errors, or this whole thing is a mess and not brilliant then forgive me. A man without rest is a man with madness? I know titan weapons has been thrown around as an idea so I'm thinking maybe redraw isnt too bad? Then again you dont see a bunch of titan/Fire running around. Or do you?
So if your good with numbers go over this and tell me if everything adds up and if you are knowledgeable on redraw let me know if that completely destroys any merit this idea has. Also thoughts and opinions. Please and thanks.
I'll post the build later. So just believe me on the numbers for now.
